Lion of the Blogosphere

Snowy in NYC

This photograph was taken with an Olympus E-PM1 and a Lumix 14mm f/2.5 lens.

No evidence of rising global temperatures this afternoon in Manhattan.

But what’s that tall building rising above all the others? Is it? Yes, it is One57, which will be the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere when completed.

  1. Why are you touting One57 so much? Involved with marketing?

    • As if any of my readers could afford a condo in that building.

    • Maybe he’s taking the garden gnome approach; as many pictures as possible with one like item in each.

Nice how you have the curving path on the edge like that.

  2. I like the One57 building. Can you get some inside construction shots? Use your connections.

Everything is evidence of global warming, which was renamed years ago to “climate change.” Now even ordinary daily fluctuations of temperatures is proof that the world is on the edge of disaster.

  3. Can Gozer the Gozerian (spl?) be far behind?

“I’ll bet you’re thinking, ‘I wonder what makes the Lion tick? I wonder if he’d be interested in knowing what makes me tick?’ You’re gonna be thinking about me, after I’m gone–”

    “You bet I am!” [SLAM]

  4. That building third from the right, just below One57, is it new construction, or is the existing building (220 CPS) being renovated? It’s hard to tell from this angle.

    • It appears that a building was torn down, and I am sure that’s a prelude to a new building taking its place.

  5. Why are you obsessed with that building?

    • Lion,

I really like these photographs. Please keep posting more. NYC >>> DC (to which I just moved).

  6. It seems Lion hates the building and is showcasing how audaciously ugly the thing is among nicer looking buildings, which were built in an era when decent aesthetics was more appreciated.

  7. You guys need to realize at this point that Lion is a very stubborn person once he’s made up his mind.

He was adamant about the greatness that is Les Miserables, the Hugh Jackman version.

He is adamant about his photography skill, evidenced by his gorgeous pictures.

And he will remain adamant about One57, the new frontier in status among Manhattanites.

However, he is gracious enough to allow posts like this. You’re my go-to wedding photographer, Lion.

    • I don’t really see One57 becoming a lasting status symbol here — most of the properties will probably be snatched up by Saudis, Russians, and new money hedge fund guys.

  8. Starting to feel like we’re in Caveman’s Valentine, in which Samuel Jackson’s character is obsessed with the Chrysler Building.

Does Stuyvesant live in One57 now? =)
