  2. As someone who collects a lot of morbid junk, I’d estimate that an original Zimmerman painting is worth somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000. I’d put the actual value of the ebay painting closer to $1,000 considering it’s copied from a stock photo. He should start creating original artwork, even if it’s crappy. It would be worth a lot more and if he’s really bad, the worst stuff will be the most valuable as long as it seems like he put effort into it.

Artwork from notorious criminals (yes, I realize Zimmerman isn’t a criminal), isn’t worth as much as most people think it is. Take John Wayne Gacy, for example. Many of his paintings are listed online for thousands of dollars, but only morons are paying that much. The actual value of an original Pogo the Clown is somewhere between $300 and $500, and Gacy has been dead since the mid-90s.

  3. Bidders expect he’ll be dead in a year or so.

  4. Charging Zimmerman was a way of discouraging people from securing their neighborhood, making it unsafe to disrespect blacks. Paying one hundred thousand for a crappy painting is a way of encouraging people to secure their neighborhood, making unsafe to mug whites.

People are prepared to pay several hundred thousand for a safer neighborhood. I bet buying that picture makes the purchaser’s neighborhood safer.

  5. Yes, it’s a tracing. He sampled it (perhaps he should have stated that?). I actually like the painting though. It’s much better that most of what passes for art these days. He will have to sell a lot of paintings; he is reportedly $2.5 million in debt.

  6. You’re envious, aren’t you? You’ve painted your whole life and yet this dimwit prole somehow auctioned off a piece of garbage for six figures.

    • I am pretty sure it is not prole to sell art for huge sums at auction. Rather it is prole to look at art that sold for huge sums at auction with a befuddled look on your face.

    • Lol, it reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer had some momentary acclaim for “creating” a piece of “outsider art” while Marge who actually had aspirations had her work relatively unrecognized, although she did receive a letter from Ringo Star and her naked portrait of Mr. Burns is in a museum.

Elites need to agree your work is “art” for it not to be prole.

If Lion ever were tasked with painting someone rich and powerful he’d be sure to not take any risks like Marge did.

  7. Splishes of paint can go for more than that. What matters is who did it. He is pure genious for thinking up of this.

  8. C’mon. That’s not a “crappy tracing” that is an “interpretation” or an “homage”. How long have you lived in the City, anyway?

    • People will pay a lot more than one hundred thousand to live in a safe neighborhood. I think that that painting will make your house safer.

      • How can the painting make any ones house safer?

      • The painting implies that criminals are likely to be killed. It is a threat, hanging on your wall.

  10. Just like lion’s shrewd predictions, I predicted zimmerman’s marriage would end and that he would devolve psychologically. I’ve read books about art therapy and psychological profiling via artwork and this has a broken psyche all over it. As far as its artistic value, I guess it would be a good conversation piece. Maybe he should switch to photography.

  11. Bidding and paying are two different things on e bay.

When the money is in his bank account and he has no legal obligation to refund then it’s his.

Otherwise this could just be the bidders clowning him.

Or maybe its a hipster using daddy’s money to buy a Zimmerman painting “ironically”.

  12. Contact him about selling your paintings as his with a 50/50 split of the money received!
