Definition of beta-male rage

The overwhelmingly vast majority of violent crime is committed by thugs.

Beta-male rage is rare, but is on the rise. It happens when a lesser beta male, with no history of violence, criminal behavior or thuggishness, surprises everyone by committing a violent crime.

By a lesser beta male, we mean a male who has below-average success with women. Beta-male-rage crimes are never committed by men with girlfriends or wives.

Also, to be beta-male rage, the perpetrator cannot be suffering from mental illness such as schizophrenia. A lot of crimes that initially appear to be candidates for beta-male rage turn out to be schizophrenia.

Although George Sodini is often seen as the poster-boy for beta-male rage, my favorite beta-male rage perpetrator is Jeffrey Johnson, the sad lonely man who shot the guido salesman at an office building across the street from the Empire State Building.

  1. “the guido salesman ….”

Here we go again. At this point I shouldn’t be surprised to hear you refer to one of our two living popes (one is the pope emeritus) as a guido. Lion can find a guido anywhere. If he ever visited my house he’d probably claim to find one under the bed. I once asked Lion if he used a “guidometer” on every Italian he ever saw to determine the person’s guidoness. Of course, there’s no such devise. But then creating one might be right up his alley. It could be his quickest route to big wealth.

  4. Ah, I remember Jeffrey Johnson, the guy who could never land beautiful women, and channeled his frustrations with cartoons of them, which of course is very prolish.

The guido sales guy Irkolino or whatever his name whom he shot, typifies the very obnoxious Italian American greaseball in NYC.

April 27, 2014 at EDT pm

    • Yes, greaseballs (and I won’t even put it in quotation marks) are obnoxious, but then obnoxiousness is relative. Property values go UP not down when Italian-Americans, guido or otherwise, move into a neighborhood. Guido may be unpleasant, but it is not any kind of IA equivalent of ghetto – in either the negative OR positive meaning of the word “ghetto.” And by positive I mean that the ethnocentrism guidos are known either doesn’t exist or doesn’t result in their neighborhoods staying Italian. We used to hear in the 1960’s and 70’s (and even into the 80s) that Bensonhurst would never change ethnically. The Italians “wouldn’t allow it.” I never could figure out what was meant by this. That the mafia would chase out everyone non-Italian? That guido’s would be ready to swing a bat at anyone non-Italian and keep any other ethnic group from moving in? We should have been so lucky! At least they could have kept the place from changing. The community is now referred to as “Bejing-hurst” by many who live there. Ironically, the people who thought they were insulting Italians were actually giving them too much credit for an imaginary Burkean sense of community. Not that I’d relish a community run by mobsters or streetcorner wise guys. But admit it, true provincialism has its advantages. If you want to move to Bensonhurst today it would make more sense to learn Mandarin than Italian.

      • I believe Beijing-hurst is the wrong name for that neighborhood, correct me if I’m wrong. The Chinese who live in Brooklyn are the prole types, prolier than the ones who buy luxurious condominiums in our beloved Manhattan. Bensonhurst should be called Ben-Chink-Hole, sounds like a word coming from my fast wok delivery guy who passes his flier to my door.

      • “The Chinese who live in Brooklyn are the prole types, prolier than the ones who buy luxurious condominiums in our beloved Manhattan”

I would think that “luxurious condominium” is redundant. A condo anywhere in NYC limits (even in the dreaded Staten Island) is luxurious. Have you seen their prices recently?

The Chinese in Bensonhurst may be proles. You seem to call 99% of humanity “proles.” But if so it must be the apartment buildings they’re moving into. The houses in that neighborhood cost 650K and up. Who can afford prices like this? The area I live in now is turning into an enclave for wealthy Middle Eastern Jews (even the American born Jews I grew up with don’t feel comfortable here anymore.) Since I’m not wealthy, Middle Eastern, or Jewish it doesn’t make sense to live here anymore. I hope this same thing won’t happen to Bensonhurst. Sheepshead Bay is still nice. It’s Jewish, but American Jewish and the people there aren’t mostly wealthy. But a lot of it doesn’t have great subway access. Ozone Park in Queens might be a possibility.

Italian Americans have education and income levels equivalent to other whites. 80% are descended from Southern Italy which is supposedly less intelligent than Northern Italy yet the list of prominent Italian Americans on Wikipedia is so long it has to be divided into multiple subsections.

      • Let me do a JS impersonation. “Yeah, well what are they “prominent” FOR? LoL…..”

        (JS: is my impersonation accurate?)

TUJ, I believe IAs still have among the highest high school drop-out rates of all white groups. This was true for years and I haven’t learned of any data that shows it’s changed,. although such data may exist. As to income levels, a far-right writer claimed years ago that the income of the mafia may make the IA average income a bit higher (in other words, the wealth of mobsters gives IA average income an artificial boost.) A lot of IAs will be reluctant to bring up this subject, but it’s still real. As to the IQ differences between Southern Italians and Northern Italians, I know little about this subject. But if the evidence were to show that Southern Italian IQs are lower, than they’/re lower even if it’s politically incorrect to say so in polite company. Southern Italians have, however, done well in intermarrying, primarily with other whites, so that a distinctive IA identity may soon be a thing of the past. This indicates that they are accepted as part of the white majority in the U.S. regardless of what the truth may be about their abilities or lifestyles.

By the way, who is marrying all these (apparent) guidos and guidettes?

        MaryK

April 28, 2014 at EDT am

      • IAs may have a higher high school drop out rate, but a lot of them go on to jobs in construction, plumbers, electricians, that kind of thing, or into sales jobs like at car dealerships or stock boiler rooms because they are charismatic (granted often in that sleazy sort of way, but it works on a lot of people). If such jobs are your goal, high school is really a giant waste of time. Education is the most over-rated thing in America.

I have never felt so emasculated and impotent as when I have to burn a weekend working on a client deliverable, or am asked to stay till late to ‘help out’ with a last minute contract closing. Not that I would ever become violent over this, but I feel it is ten times worse than romantic rejection.

  8. It could be that beta male rage is just a pale copy of alpha male rage, which is far more common and infinitely more destructive. Every gangland war, whether between Bloods and Crips or between Westies and the Mafia, and every war ever fought – not to mention an enormous chunk of our prison population – exemplifies alpha male rage. Why shouldn’t the little men imitate their big brothers?

  10. Beta male rage is on the rise because of the post scarcity economy?

Women are gradually becoming interested only in men with status, looks and intellect. Not or, but all ands. Everything else is secondary.

    JS

April 27, 2014 at EDT pm

    • It’s odd that you say this, JS. There are blue collar men who claim that white collar women are interested in them (and I’m talking about for a real relationship and a future, not just casual sex or “friends with benefits.) My ex, although very bright, was a blue collar man with no college degree. A lot of women are dating “down” (I hate to use this expression, but it’s the one everyone uses.) This is because there are fewer men interested in marriage than women. Also, because men tend to put a premium on looks, a woman has a much smaller chance of marrying a younger guy than a guy has of marrying a younger woman. This further reduces a woman’s options once she passes 30. A tremendous number of women will pursue or marry who they can get rather than hold out for Mr. Ideal Man. A lot of men who claim they can’t find a good woman are probably just aiming too high on the status scale.

      MaryK

April 28, 2014 at EDT am

      • Because more women than men go to college, it’s not uncommon that higher blue-collar men are with lower college-graduate women like school teachers, or women with college degrees from bogus schools.

        Lion of the Blogosphere

April 28, 2014 at EDT am

      • It’s a generational thing. MaryK isn’t a millennial. A guy with no college degree nowadays wanting to get into a relationship with a college educated woman, has a zero chance.

    • “men with status, looks and intellect.”

And blue collar guys can have the first two in abundance, and even a good deal of intellect, though not “book learning.” Sure, there is economic status, but there is also status among males, alpha/leadership qualities, which blue collar types can have as much as any wolf of Wall Street type. Why do you think women are so hot for firemen?

      peterike

April 28, 2014 at EDT am

      • Yes, there is something about men who wear uniforms that turns on a certain type of woman. I always found uniforms sexy. But then I’m not a typical woman. But the point is that when the people on this blog talk about “status” they’re referring to the standard definition used by the media – high income, education, impressive family, creative-type job. Any man can have “status” in some kind of realm, but the question is how many women are looking for men in that realm? For example, there’s a “high potential-low achiever” type of realm – people whose IQs and interests and personal achievements don’t correlate with a high income or prestigious career. These people are viewed by most as somewhat quirky. A man can be viewed as stable and decent but relatively low-achieving by society in general, and be very appealing to a woman within this same realm. My ex and I were both in this category, which is why we were attracted to one another. In a strange way, I actually took pride in “marrying down” because there weren’t many women he would have pursued for marriage – most women in his socioeconomic and educational category he considered boring and unintellectual.

It’s too bad he didn’t get himself an Asian woman, since many men at his age would settle for a non-White woman, because White woman generally don’t want to date low status older men.

    • Jeffrey Johnson probably had beta rage, but it was alleviated by his artistic passion of drawing cartoonish women, not too different from Hentai (by the way, he was part Japanese, just to make a correlation). He was also an avid bird watcher, so he had hobbies to keep him distracted from thinking about his incelness and a lack of female companionship.

Unlike Johnson, George Sodini was probably a status grubber and highly conscious of his position relative to higher status men, who tend to be more alpha and are able to garner attention/love/sex from women successfully, something of which he couldn’t do. The experiences felt by George Sodini represents not only what beta /omega male rage taken to the extremes signifies, but what proledom and betaness/omeganess as a combination, is a toxic recipe waiting to happen. New sources said Sodini was verbally abused by his brother and he probably had prole parents, given by his Italian last name and his Northeast residency in the state of PA.
