Elliot Rodger’s Retribution

Elliot Rodger’s Retribution video on Youtube. (And if that video gets pulled, just search YouTube for another copy).

This is the UC Santa Barbara mass-shooter. Mental illness? I don’t think so. I think he sounds very sane, no more insane than perhaps a Japanese kamikaze pilot might have been the night before he knew he was going to die.

In the video, Elliot explains how he has never had a girlfriend, had sex, or even kissed a girl, and that he is going to get retribution on the pretty blonde girls of UCSB.

If there were ever case for the existence of “beta-male rage,” I think this is it.

I think that Elliot’s vocabulary indicates that he has a pretty high IQ.

Elliot uses some of the lingo from “game” blogs. Are “game” blogs contributing to mass murder?

* * *

There was a comment at the blog previously known as “Roissy in DC” in which the commenter predictably (predictably because there’s always a similar comment in situations like this) states that this wouldn’t have happened if only he knew about “game.” However, I am almost 100% certain that this guy did know about “game,” but the existence of such “game” blogs didn’t help him very much.

* * *

Elliot Rodger comes from a very successful Hollywood family, which explains why his video gives off the vibe of him coming from a privileged background. (And I mean real privilege, and not the “white privilege” that liberals attribute to loser proles who happen to be white).

* * *

Elliot Rodger is reported to be a poster at a website called PUAHate.

The following comment was attributed to a poster at PUAHate:

If this is legit the future does not bode well for this forum…. This site, trolling aside, holds potentially dangerous material. Imagine a mass realisation amongst incels and the potential repercussions it will have. This forum will be closed, individual users will be investigated and will likely be prosecuted for crimes such as incitement etc.

We will be persecuted and hunted down like the vile abominations we are… Act quickly to avoid any link to this place.

PUAHate appears to already be offline. Perhaps the owner of the site has deleted the database in order to protect its membership?

* * *

Why do girls hate me so much? Another Elliot Rodger video, where he comes off as more sympathetic and less maniacal than in his last video. Anyone who thinks an expensive car and $300 sunglasses will help him to attract women should watch this video to be taught wrong.

* * *

Elliot Rodger loves 80s music. All of his videos that feature music have 80s music in them. This reveals something about his personality, because not very many 22-year-olds favorite genre of music is from before they were born. At least that wasn’t the case when I was 22.

* * *

Balcony Vlog, reminiscing about childhood. “No girls like me, and I hate them all for it.” But no maniacal laughing in this video, he just seems depressed.

Up until his last few videos, he just seems nerdy, introverted, and depressed, but not a psychopathic killer or a schizophrenic. The eighties music he likes was cool music to like for 22-year-olds in the 1980s, but today, 22-year-olds who like that music are probably considered nerdy and not cool. He should have liked rap and hip-hop.

* * *

Why did Elliot attend such a crappy school such as “Santa Barbara City College”? Based on his videos I know he has well above-average IQ, and he comes from a wealthy family, he should have been at a more prestigious school James Holmes also attended a college way beneath him. I think there’s a clue there.

    • Seems like he could afford a good looking call girl. I mean, he made it through college, but couldn’t figure out how to have sex? Did he join clubs or organizations where students work together and end up getting to know one another? Also, he must have had family connections to starlets or whatever who might have thought it in their interest to have a boyfriend whose dad was well connected in the industry. I mean, he had many many avenues to uh, a good time. So, it seems he thinks that guys don’t have to be aggressive at all to get girls. I mean, guys have to at least talk to girls, etc.

    • He clearly was NOT gay, otherwise he’d be complaining that men weren’t interested him. His video indicates a very strong and unrequited desire for WOMEN.

      Looking gay isn’t the same as being gay. But no doubt his less-than-masculine appearance was a turn-off to modern women who long for manly alpha men.

      • @Lion,

        Love your stuff, but you are completely wrong here. Looking gay is the same as being gay. I’m surprised at your age you’ve made this simple error.

        For years I gave gay looking dudes the benefit of the doubt thinking there was some category of gay acting guys who weren’t, in fact, gay. Over the years I learned how wrong that was. Every single male I previously thought only looked gay has eventually either come out of the closet or has been spotted (by others) at gay bars. In other words, if they seem gay in appearance and behavior they are gay. Bank on it.

      “ever considered these guys might have no choice?” ———

      When I was in HS and college gals threw themselves at the short pretty boys. I’m not buying his story for a second. Hell, some deluded gals even threw themselves at the gay guys. You really don’t have to work that hard at it, if you don’t spend your days and nights attached to an Xbox, and make appearances in places where women go, the gals will come to you.

      I don’t buy for a second that this guy “had no choice.” The only men I’ve met who ‘couldn’t’ get a woman to screw them were total social misfits, not guys like this. There is an entire world of fatties and chubsters just waiting for some guy to give them an excuse to get what they want. And, this idea (is it new?) that you should only screw good looking girls? Where the F did that come from? Any man who has been single for awhile (and is hetero) has had a rumble with a chubster and has learned what men like Arnold Schwartzenegger know all too well, she doesn’t have to be pretty to be great in the sack.

      This guy could have gotten more poon than he’d know what to do with if he just lowered his standards. Obviously, he didn’t. Most likely because he’s gay.

I wager he was rejected admission at UCSB but wanted to attend the party that is Isla Vista anyway and so attended another college instead. Trying to break into the social scene of a university when you aren’t in a university (whether too young, graduated, in community college, etc) can be extremely difficult, and it’s not at all surprising that he had no success with the girls there, much less the hot ones. Later Gen X (James Franco’s and also Roosh’s generation) was naturally and consistently edgier, darker and cooler, unlike these guys who are posers and lash out to make a bad boy statement, where as Gen X guys were original badasses to begin with.

        Two excellent points in that comment.

        This kid badly wanted to fit in with the hard-partying rich, preppy kids but lacked the charisma, athletic looks, or social skills to find respect in that crowd. He also failed to understand the academic-career tracking process that could have led to success later in life. He was a total loser, even though he appeared to have the native intelligence, family money and social status to go places. His cluelessness points to bad parenting. Furthermore, his incredibly shitty attitude undermined him as well.

        Finally, this story illustrates why Lion’s class and racial snobbery rubs me the wrong way. Affluence and avoiding NAMs and proles or whatever doesn’t count for much if you lack basic social skills and have a pathetic attitude.

        I thought all psychopaths are Machiavellian, at least those with sufficient intelligent to be Machiavellian.
        ===

        I could hypothesize that his vocabulary can lead one to overestimate his intelligence. One with Asperger syndrome can use a more broad vocabulary, but they can still have normal intelligence; Asperger syndrome does not necessarily mean high intelligence. In order to figure out whether an aspie is highly intelligent, one needs to delve in the intellectual content and substance of their interests to see whether it is challenge and abstract, and not merely a concrete, unpractical fixation. <any aspie interests may not be that intellectually demanding, just unusual to focus on it.

      • “The [moving to] Santa Barbara plan was formed on that night, but its roots stretch all the way back to when I just turned eighteen. It was all because I watched that movie Alpha Dog. The movie had a profound effect on me, because it depicted lots of good looking young people enjoying pleasurable sex lives. I thought about it for many months afterward, and I constantly read about the story online. I found out that it took place in Santa Barbara, which prompted me to read about college life in Santa Barbara. I found out about Isla Vista, the small town adjacent to UCSB where all of the college students live and have parties. When I found out about all this, I had the desperate hope that if I moved to that town I would be able to live that life too. That was the life I wanted. A life of pleasure and sex.” — Elliot Rodger, My Twisted World, page 77. Called it!

        @Latias: Machiavellianism is a behavioral disposition whereas psychopathy is an emotional disposition. Both kinds of people might endeavor to cause someone pain, but the Machiavellian would do it for clear sociostrategic reasons, and may even feel sympathy despite carrying it out, whereas the psychopath would do it out of disinterested ennui and listlessness, and often with complete disregard for possible consequences. Due to these inherent differences, psychopathy is usually categorized as a disorder whereas Machiavellianism isn’t, or is instead categorized as a personality trait.

        @Latias: Also, I haven’t found a single punctuation mistake in his entire manifesto, and that is certainly strong evidence of his intelligence. He was a obviously a very well-read character; however, it’s interesting that natural science was never one of the subjects he studied, only social science.

  8. Was he a student at UCSB? If he was 22, he would have been a senior in college. UCSB is 53% female but only 45% white with the rest split among Asians, Hispanics, and blacks. UCSB is a 1200 SAT school with an 80% six year graduation rate. So if he was a UCSB student, he had above average SAT scores but probably majored in the wrong subject and is probably short.

All of the UC campuses, even Berkeley and UCLA, have to accept a specified number of community college transfers each year.

        A weak, short, half-Asian guy is not going to be the captain of the football team or fraternity president. Guys like him have the advantage of being freed up to pursue other strategies to get the attention of women. Usually this means studying hard and getting into a challenging career track like engineering or medical school, but that would require a good work ethic and older relatives to steer him in the right direction, which he did not have.

        His vanity also shows in the way he focused on being part of the white, rich, preppy in-crowd. It never occurred to him he would have an easier time making friends and getting laid if he got involved with theater or art and hung out with slutty hipster chicks.

First, there is nearly zero cost to acquiring any music (besides your internet connection and computer). Second, pop music had a broader audience in the 70s and 80s is less demographically specialized than music today. Third, I grew listening to oldies (i.e. 50s and early 60s music) on the radio because that’s what my parents listen to, so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t completely uncommon then either.

      He is clearly insane, probably a paranoid schizophrenic. Anyone who intuits sanity from a modicum of coherence does not know crazy people. He was probably enrolled in a community college because his parents (quite rightly) considered him too immature to go away to a regular college.

      There should be a moratorium on classifying obviously disturbed young men as “beta males” and seeing them for the sad, sick outliers that they are.

      • Why would be say he is paranoid schizophrenic? I saw the “genocide school” (Pima Community College) video by Jared Loughner, and in contrast, Elliot Rodgers was too coherent to be considered to be “schizophrenic”. Surely he has emotional problems, but it does not suffer from bizarre disillusions. He was indeed traumatized by the reality of being unattractive to women.

      • I believe your garden variety schizophrenic is the type that is fundamentally incoherent – you know, the torrent of non sequiturs and all that. Loughner was probably in that category. However, at least some paranoid schizophrenics have the intelligence to mimic rationality while remaining totally delusional. I know, I was mental health volunteer for a while and met a few. As for his looks, per se, he looked fine – for a kid – and God knows the world is full of far worse looking people who are rock-solid sane.

      • A schizophrenic is unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality. There’s no evidence of schizophrenia. A 2-page essay about a perfect society in which there are no women may seem like a weird society, but a political essay doesn’t make him any more schizophrenic than Karl Marx or Martin Luther King.

  15. i read the site puahate from time to time, though mainly for its humor value. the people who post on it are a very depressive group, with many obviously suffering from bodily dysmorphic disorder. the entire site is focused on the theme that women care about looks a lot more than is typically believed and that ugly/physically unappealing men have it much worse than their equally unattractive female counterparts. they spend a lot of time analyzing facial traits, comparing their own faces to those of male models, and arguing with each other about which perceived aesthetic defects kill a man’s chances with women the most. as ridiculous as it is, there’s a lot of legitimate stuff on that site, though it is exaggerated to the extreme due to the highly mentally unstable, self-loathing nature of the people on that site. they hate “game” and “pua” and believe they give guys false hope, which i personally think they kind of do.

If only he had waited 5 or 10 years, he would have won enough manly skills to seduce women and gain in physical attractiveness. An inability to face a momentary frustration and lack of imagination, it’s an evident proof a stupidity

In our society, he did it because of the jealousy of seeing other guys with girls while he was alone. But if he was born in the Palestinian territories, he may have just blamed the Jews for his misery and then gone and become a terrorist.

    • I would say that $300 sunglasses and a german sports car are like steroids or other performance enhancing drugs; they do give one a competitive edge in sports (such as increased performance on the field or more resilence), but it cannot make an average person be as good as those who are blessed with immense natural ability.

No, this guy probably hada hard time fitting into his social class and was likely at the bottom of the totem pole growing up.

        as a female aspie, i suppose my high regard for sympathy reflects my relative inability to discern one’s insincerity from body language, tone of voice, or other visual cues and also from the plausibility of one’s stories. However, a positive aspect of autism renders me immune (or “it’s not every effective”) to psychopathic/machiavellian social charm, and I often need to see a relatively high degree of personal sacrifice (towards others) beyond superficial impressions in order to see a person as “credible” and trustworthy. I am also aware of our evolutionary heritage where one who is able to secure more resources, especially mates, are able to reproduce more (and importantly transmit genetic variants that gives them a competitive advantage in social group to their progeny) and economic incentives for selfish. Moreover, I am a strong political realist (as I often cross my arms in silence rolling my eyes when there is a prayer for “peace” and a “just resolution of conflict” in some volatile region before the benediction as Mass concludes) since I most certainly do not believe that “peace” or “justice” is the desideratum of the conflicting parties or that anyone with political influence is motivated by benevolence. I am not just a naive girl, although my appearance may suggest that. I always expect insincerity.

  20. What’s interesting about this is that liberals think capitalism is cruel because some people end up being losers. But the same is true regarding the sexual marketplace. And being a loser in the sexual marketplace is much worse than being a loser in the economic marketplace, since success in the latter is to a large degree a tool used to become successful in the former.

    It’s not the lack of sex that drives people crazy. Masturbation can take away sexual frustration in one minute. This is more of an emotional problem, the guy asks himself “Why them and not me?” And the real reason is because you’re a loser. There’s no honest way to deal with the issue. You should know that religion and masturbation do not mix.

      Except in moments of spiritual ecstasy, one does not experience such feelings of immense love, since most people are not spatiotemporally proximal to any religious institution or experience. One can become dejected when one lives their life: some have much stamina and retain their joy, regardless of any trial, tribulation, or frustration they may encounter throughout their days; others, myself included, are more neurotic and tend to be discouraged for whatever reason and sometimes miss prayers or even Mass.

Maybe he couldn’t get the kind of girl he wanted. Some people won’t “settle” – whether male or female. They want only a certain type of person and refuse to consider anyone else. Also, some people are angry at the world and are looking for a reason to be angry and lash out. • I’m two thirds of the way through reading his manifesto and I think you are correct. He was obsessed with beautiful blond women and would certainly not consider any other type of woman. He was definitely extremely angry with the world. He was enraged that other men had beautiful blond girlfriends and he didn’t.

        He was extremely immature, almost childlike, in many ways. (for example he thought he could win the lottery just by wishing about it really hard.) He had a very jealous, vindictive, humourless nature and a massive sense of superiority and entitlement. He was also extremely shy and frightened of beautiful women. I don’t think he ever asked a woman on a date. His technique of trying to find a girl friend was to take college classes or just walk around the neigbourhood and hope that some beautiful girl would notice how fabulous he was and start talking to him. He dropped most of his classes after realizing that none of the pretty blond girls in the class were going to notice how wonderful he was. He became enraged if he saw pretty girls in his class talking to other men. He would go home and cry. He felt very sorry for himself most of the time. He saw himself as a victim.

        I don’t think he was schizophrenic or a psychopath although he probably suffered from some sort of depression. His personality was massively screwed up. He seemed to get along ok in elementary school, but even then he was known as a quiet, weird kid. He talked a lot about being afraid and socially awkward as a child. In highschool he was teased and bullied. After grade 9 his parents put him in some sort of special school for misfits where he just worked at his own speed. I don’t think he was stupid, and if his manifesto is accurate he had a remarkable memory for childhood events and names. He was actually a pretty good writer and could probably have sold his manifesto if he had checked himself into a psych ward instead of killing people. But he was such a cruel, vengeful person I don’t think psychiatrist could have fixed him.

Then again, I’ve never associated taller with superior the way American culture tends to, so I’m probably an outlier. But a big discrepancy in height would make physical contact between a man and a woman a bit…..(how to put it?)….awkward. Wouldn’t it? All I know is that I’ve often had crushes and sexual fantasies about fairly short men, but never had any fantasy about doing some 6’4 giant.

    • As someone who went to a shitty state school despite high intelligence (took a scholarship), the social milieu sucks for people like us.

      My social skills are pretty average, but the school’s students are probably 15-20 IQ points lower than me, on average. Good luck fitting in. This Rodger guy may have had the same problem. Intelligence isn’t really attractive to women, and he would have done better at an Ivy League where the girls were on the same intellectual level and weren’t as scornful of him.

      A problem he may have had was a lack of future time orientation, despite his smarts. I worked hard and am going to a prestigious graduate school where I can mix with my intellectual equals, and have a good career afterwards. I highly doubt I’m going to end up incel. Obviously, Roger didn’t think far enough ahead, or was sick of jumping through hoops for the pussy. Can’t blame him- it’s his life, but obviously he had alternative options…as an attractive guy he certainly could have met cute girls using Tinder or OkCupid. Why didn’t he ask his dad to take him to Hollywood parties with him?

There’s not a day that goes by that my gut doesn’t wrench in bitter regret over the thought of what might have been. Of course, I was always too dysfunctional to truly enjoy success. But I had enough of what admissions boards look for to have avoided that pit if I’d just been inclined.

  31. Elliot Rodgers was the son of film, television and musical theatre composer, Peter Rodgers Melnick; grandson of film producer and studio executive, Daniel Melnick; and great grandson of film, television and broadway musical composer, Richard Rodgers. His father went to Harvard and his grandfather NYU. Given his family, I’m going to say the kid was probably pretty bright and obviously very rich. Some people have said he was half Asian but the photos I’ve seen show Peter’s wife, Laini, is white and, I assume, Jewish.

    Elliot wasn’t a bad looking kid. He’s thin with a very boyish appearance not unlike Johnny Depp used to have. Some girls like that. But unlike Johnny Depp, Elliot gives the impression of being short. Women HATE short men. I read a report of online dating statistics a long time ago which showed women actually prefer bald to short. But given Elliot’s reasonably good looks and wealth I don’t think that’s it.

    Rather, watching that video gave me the Donnie Darko creeps. There’s definitely something wrong with him that goes beyond women not liking him. In one of his videos he mentions he’s “always alone” and “always lonely”. So he didn’t have guy friends either. Even nerds and losers have friends but not him. I don’t think he suffers paranoid schizophrenia like Donnie Darko. I do however think he has some disconnect with other people. That’s why Lion’s observation about him listening to 80s music is important. There’s nothing wrong with listening to 80’s music but taken with his lack of friends it shows he’s not on the same page with everyone else.

    I can easily see where someone with some sort of personal interaction and social disconnect would analyze himself and go down the check-list saying, “I’m attractive, intelligent, dress well, polite and gentlemanly, come from a wealthy family and have a great car. Therefore, women should like me.” But he never realized the missing ingredient was social interaction. Something he obviously didn’t understand or wasn’t capable of.

      I was, however, correct that Elliot had a disconnect that went beyond his difficulties with women. In addition, he said that the girl he lost his virginity to was a blonde white girl!……..How could an inferior, ugly black boy be able to get a white girl and not me? I am beautiful, and I am half white myself. I am descended from British aristocracy. He is descended from slaves. I deserve it more. I tried not to believe his foul words, but they were already said, and it was hard to erase from my mind. If this is actually true, if this ugly black filth was able to have sex with a blonde white girl at the age of thirteen while I’ve had to suffer virginity all my life, then this just proves how ridiculous the female gender is. They would give themselves to this filthy scum, but they reject ME? The injustice!”

    PAGE 121
    “As my frustration grew, so did my anger. I came across this Asian guy who was talking to a white girl. The sight of that filled me with rage. I always felt as if white girls thought less of me because I was half-Asian, but then I see this white girl at the party talking to a full-blooded Asian. I never had that kind of attention from a white girl! And white girls are the only girls I’m attracted to, especially the blondes. How could an ugly Asian attract the attention of a white girl, while a beautiful Eurasian like myself never had any attention from them?”

      broken home, shuffled about. his dad made foolish decisions, put them in an awkward spot, divorced parents, rejecting step mom, unstable mom.

      Last paragraph: “All i ever wanted was to love women and in turn to be loved by them back.”

      his mother went on vacation to hawaii, and put him up in a hotel by himself for a week, “with food.” yikes.

      this was right after he got himself into his first major bout of serious trouble. instead of canceling her trip and trying to figure out what the hell kind of trouble her son was into. rejected by his father and mother in law at a vulnerable time – couldn’t stay with them either.

When we sat down at our table, I saw a young couple sitting a few tables down the row. The sight of them enraged me to no end, especially because it was a dark-skinned Mexican guy dating a hot blonde white girl. I regarded it as a great insult to my dignity. How could an inferior Mexican guy be able to date a white blonde girl, while I was still suffering as a lonely virgin? I was ashamed to be in such an inferior position in front my father. When I saw the two of them kissing, I could barely contain my rage. I stood up in anger, and I was about to walk up to them and pour my glass of soda all over their heads.
