Steve Sailer on Serena Williams

Steve Sailer implies that Serena Williams is taking steroids to get muscular.

I’m not so sure. I think that there are many black women who could get that muscular if they lift weights, without taking steroids. The greater muscularity of black women, compared to white women, is readily observed by riding the subways during the summer.

Of course, it’s pretty rare to see a black woman on the subways as muscular as Serena, but I think that the muscular black woman that I see are just naturally muscular without doing any type of serious weight training, and that they could look like Serena if they wanted to put the time and effort into bodybuilding.

ibejeph rights:

Women who use steroids tend to have very evident marks of their usage. The chin becomes square, the voice depends and the clitoris grows into almost a mini penis.

There are other factors as well, like facial hair, acne and other issues that would arise from pumping a male hormone into a female body.

I did a quick image search for Serena. Other than her muscle mass, I did not see any outward sign of steroid use. I even saw her in a bathing suit. There was no odd protrusion from her crotch.

Right. I don’t think her face looks any more masculine than the average thirty-two-year-old black woman you might see riding the subways.

  1. Oh pleze! Serena dopes like crazy. Get this:

“A major problem with the OC tests, in any case, is that they’re regarded by many as a joke. In 2011, Serena Williams locked herself in her Los Angeles home’s panic room when she thought an intruder was lurking outside. It was a drug tester; ITF data shows Williams didn’t take an OC test at all in 2010 or 2011.”

Oh yeah, she thought “an intruder” was outside! Lol!

Blacks are far more likely to cheat in general and have no remorse about it, given their infinite ability to rationalize away their own bad behavior.

  2. I think the better question is why would anyone expect that everyone who performs in an athletic event big enough to be on TV isn’t getting chemical assistance (endurance, strength, recovery time, etc)?

    • This isn’t specific to Serena, nor to tennis, but about 20 years ago I briefly got to know the coach and the agent of a gold medal winning Olympic athlete. They said that that the use of PEDs among Olympic competitors is rampant, and that you should assume that pretty much all of them are juicing on something or other.

    • Evidence? Steve Sailer’s observations are: (a) she looks so very different from all the other tennis players, and (2) she looks so very different from her sister. Most female tennis players do not look mannish.

      • There are other female tennis players who look kind of mannish. Not unattractive, but many are a bit more masculine looking than the average woman. But even Serena doesn’t look as mannish as she does like an athletic freak. I don’t think she’s on roids. She’s so much more muscular becauseshe’s black and other tennis girls are white.

According to Google, Serena stands at 5’9 while her competitors in tennis are all over 6′. Even her sister comes in at 6’1. Considering they are all elite level athletes, with similar performance levels, Serena’s muscle mass would be crammed into a smaller frame and thus look more beefy and her taller and longer limbed competitors.

      • To Sheila Tone, I don’t like to offer this up, as it suggests I have questionable tastes, but google Chyna’s adult video.

Chyna of WWE fame, a muscle bound freak of a woman. Years of steroid abuse did strange things to her womanly parts. Her chin too is quite large, full and manly.

Many years ago, I saw a review of her adult video on somethingawful dot com. That’s when I discovered the mini-penis phenomenon. It was not a pleasant discovery.

And it isn’t just Chyna. I have learned it is an odd affliction affecting many women who engage in steroid abuse.

Again, this all brings up my own questionable tastes but I’ll have everyone know I’m not into “that”.

      • Sheila Tone “I want to know more about this mini-penis we can grow.”

In utero, male and female fetuses grow identically until a certain point when a massive release of hormones begins their differentiation. In fact, it would be more proper to say that every fetus is female until this point. The hormones basically grow the female fetus’s clitoris into a male fetus’s penis. So it’s not surprising that a female taking male hormones might experience some changes there as well.

I just remembered that spotted hyena females actually have penises. Elevated levels of testosterone cause the females’ clitoris to grow into a penis of up to 7 inches through which they actually give birth. OUCH! There’s a video about it on national geographic.

  7. One of the big tells for any doper is a sudden change in their musculature, like you saw with Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire. I’ve heard this happened with Serena, but I don’t know this myself, and it’s surprisingly difficult to find anything on the internet about this (searching for words around Serena’s body tends to yield two types of articles: those yakking about racism, racism, racism, and laudatory articles from whites talking about how fabulous Serena is).

Another circumstantial factor around her potentially cheating is the knowledge that because she’s a black woman, the media will never call her out on this. And if they did, Serena could just bark “racists!” and it would all go away, craven apologies flowing freely. I’m pretty sure that despite their incessant whining about “unfair” treatment, celebrity blacks know damn well they are treated as hands-off as possible by the media and they can get away with just about anything.

In any event, who cares about tennis.

  9. High level professional tennis is a sport that I would think is very hard on the knees and the back. Most pros have a playing career of 10 years or less, and are considered old by the time they’re in their late 20s. Serena has been an elite level tennis player since the late 90s, and she’s approaching her mid-30s. She might not be taking steroids, but she’s probably using some kind of PEDs,

  11. 90% of professional athletes are using PEDs. People are too naive. Try to explain this to someone and it’s No way, they just eat great and work out really hard!.

I have been heavily involved in the bodybuilding culture since I was 22 (29 now). So many liars — guys spend thousands of dollars a year on gear just to look good for a month at the beach (and then claim they’re natural when they’re 200 pounds, with single digit body-fat, at 5’10”). Just think what people will do when there are hundreds of thousands, millions, of dollars in prize money, salaries, and endorsement deals on the line.

There are steroids, such as Winstrol and Anavar, that don’t result in obvious virilization, and promote anabolic rather than androgenic effects. Plenty of female athletes take them. Therapeutic use of Anavar can add a dozen pounds of lean muscle to an patient wasting from AIDS, without the use of resistance training.

  13. Speaking about female genitalia, I was recently reading a very obscure book written by an early tourist of South Africa. By early, I mean in the 1790’s. He had been told by the Dutch settlers that Pigmy women all had outsize clitorises that were easily visible (back then, the Pigmies wore no clothes). He confirmed that this was indeed true — they were almost like penises. Of course, today, you couldn’t even ask about this and expect a straight answer from our “scientists”, because racism.

Are you sure that’s pygmies and not khoisan bushmen aka “hottentots”? They have what was known as the “hottentot apron” which is an extended labia minora that hangs down up to 4 inches. Males also have unique genitalia with a penis that sticks straight out even while in the non erect state.

  15. Remember US sprinter Marion Jones. She won three gold medals and two bronze in the ’00 Olympics. She always looked strong and fit, but never overly muscular. She had a long history of missing drug tests, fraternizing w/ known steroid users, and denying steroid use. Finally, in 2007, after pleading guilty to lying to federal agents in the BALCO steroid investigation, she admitted her steroid use. She served six months in federal prison and was stripped of her Olympic medals.

  17. In the mid-80s, I worked out at a large, popular, upscale athletic club catering mostly to upper-middle class tennis players and white-collar types trying to keep in shape. The club had a decent free weight and weight machine area that attracted more than a few muscle heads. Steroid use was fairly open among about a dozen regular members that used the weights, including three early 20-somethings that I went to high school with. It was easy to buy steroids in the locker room. Eventually, the DEA busted two of the muscle heads for steroid and cocaine dealing. It was a big scandal in the town.

Steve is hung up on steroids for some reason. I think it’s because he’s from a different generation. Performance enhancement is sort of standard now. My guess is it will be come legal at some point.

    • Because nobody, women or men, should distort their bodies to earn a living, no matter how much is at stake. Just like investment bankers shouldn’t have to take adderal and amphetamines to stay competitive. It’s a symptom of increasing, unsustainable scale. Serena Williams should be popping out bright, physically fit kids with her similarly endowed husband, not playing tennis like a maniac and juicing while her eggs shrivel away.

More likely, she had plastic surgery, including a tummy tuck/lipo (those leave a particular stringy, squarish, slightly crooked look, which I see on her) and buttock implants, which seem to be all the rage now (even white women like Iggy Azalea and Coco T have a pair). 22. LOTB,

As written above, Serena locked herself into a panic room when she was about to get tested by the ITF. There really is no question whether or not she dopes.

The blog Tennishasasteroidproblem.blogspot.com highlights dozens of athletes who are suspected of doping. Serena Williams is simply the most visible example, because she already had musculature on which the doped-up muscles grew.

I’ve been interested in PEDs in tennis after I watched the remarkable 90s comebacks of Thomas Muster & Andre Agassi. There’s quite a story there, about as big as cycling. They’re not even talking about PEDs in football/soccer yet, but I suspect they are saturated with it.

  23. Re: muscular black women on the subway: one reason why black women may appear to have more muscle tone is simply *because* of their skin color. Light-skinned bodybuilders tan and oil in order to show the lines on their physique.

That said, I agree with above commenters that PED use is rampant in professional sports.

  26. I agree to with Lion on this. There is a sizeable amount of black women that are just LARGE. I’m not talking fat (a lot of those, too).

They have large frames that are larger than most average men’s. If they pumped iron they could look like Serena. These kinds of black women have HIGH natural testosterone levels.
