Sorry about the last post

Looks like plane wreckage and bodies have been found. Although this doesn’t disprove that the Black Hand was behind it.

In other important news, Michael Grimm, the guido Congressman from Staten Island, has resigned.

The New York Times writes:

Whoever takes Mr. Grimm’s seat will be unlikely to match his track record as a source of national fascination, or satire. A tough-talking politician with a clenched jaw and an intense stare, a fondness for dark-tailored suits and Brooklyn wine bars, Mr. Grimm brought with him a reputation for controversy, including the time — back in his law enforcement days — when he reportedly waved a gun around a Queens nightclub. He carried himself with a bravado that was on display until the end.

You have to appreciate how the New York Times describes his guido characteristics without appearing to be condescending.

  3. I bet he’ll eventually run for re-election and staten island, like a battered woman, will take him back.

    • Grimm’s congressional district could elect some other part-Italian hybrid Republican – one who doesn’t make the whole district look bad – someone who behaves himself. How about “Maryk?” The only problem the voters would likely have with me is that they’d wonder why I stick around on LOTB with all the “guido-talk” that exists here. But at least I’m trying to improve myself and improve the tribe’s reputation in the process. Grimm, in addition to having no ethics, has almost no dignity – and no shame. You can’t get much worse than this. The voters didn’t need to sink this low. Maybe they “circled the wagons” when Grimm was accused of corruption. People often respond to unpleasant realities by burying their heads in the sand. I hope the voters will learn from their mistakes and have higher standards for their future representatives.

      • I would donate a couple of hundred to your election campaign. You could read Lion’s posts into the congressional record during general speech time.

  4. “He carried himself with a bravado that was on display until the end.”

Ahh, so “bravado” is NYT dog whistle for guido. We must violently oppose this hidden racism.

    Bravado: it’s the new burly!

    • Bravado…it’s the Italian iteration of “vibrant.”

      • Or more accurately, bravado is the Italian iteration of “vibrancy.”
