Will Trump win the black vote?

Trump, no doubt, has more appeal to blacks than any other Republican candidate. Blacks like a strong leader who doesn’t take *** from anyone. Watch this YouTube video of two black woman angry at Megyn Kelly.

Ironic that Donald Trump is disinvited by blue-pill white conservative Erik Erickson for being mean to poor little blonde Megyn, while two black women vigorously defend him.

* * *

The primary policy reason for why those two black women like Trump is because of his stance against illegal immigration and for a secure border. But she also says in the video that Donald Trump is sexy, and that she may change her voter registration to Republican so she can vote for him.

That annoying little elf Rand Paul has always imagined that he could somehow win black votes by sucking up to them, but he could only dream about the passionate support of black women that Donald Trump inspires just by being himself.

* * *

What will happen if Sanders, a guy who blacks inherently dislike because of his nerdiness, wins the Democratic nomination and runs against Trump, a white guy who blacks identify with a lot more?

  2. Mate, that video in the link is a hillarious spoof. Here is the real one:

    • Trump needs to find more black victims if illegal immigrant crime, and do a reverse Willie Horton.

      • I thought if this blog stood for anything it’s that politicians should be doing regular Willie Hortons

  3. I don’t think in a Trump/Hillary contest, Trump could win the majority of the black vote, but he could make massive inroads, probably giving Republicans the biggest gains in black votes in years. A Trump/Sanders contest would probably yield even bigger black gains. But a majority? No way.Every civil rights group and black church would be hammering the black community to stay true blue.

  4. Good post, there’s a lot of good insight here. Blacks will go for Trump over Bernie Sanders, a nerdy Jew boy from Brooklyn. Maybe if he was more of a Donald Sterling type Jew he could win, but he’s not.

Trump has more bling and a dominant attitude, which blacks like. Rappers even rap about him. Plus more and more blacks are coming out against illegal immigration and sending jobs overseas, which hurts them greatly.

Trump has explicitly said that he likes black people, which means he knows he needs to curry their favor to win. At first I thought he was running a joke campaign but now I think he’s in it to win it.

Off topic somewhat: what do you think of him firing his campaign manager Roger Stone, who’s previously worked with Richard Nixon and Goldwater?

    Lion of the Judah-sphere

    August 9, 2015 at 10:33 am

    • Probably, Stone doesn’t like him for the same reason that the rest of the elite Republican establishment doesn’t like him.

      Lion of the Blogosphere

      August 9, 2015 at 10:37 am

      • Huh.

Roger Stone is a strange bird. I first heard of him decades ago when he was a GOP hitman to cause trouble for Libertarian Party groups in NH in what turned out to be a well-funded operation. He has recently given a bunch of mea culpas and is now running as an LP candidate in Florida (the LP Florida is recovering like many US state affiliates from a massive infiltration by some extremists from the GOP in 2009, and I see him as a remnant of this) even as he is/was a Trump advisor (though Trump now implies he was a minor figure at best). Somewhere in all this he became a JFK assassination ‘expert’ claiming LBJ did it and is getting into a lot of right-wing e-zines.

The way I read him is he was, is, and forever will be a paid political sandbagger for God knows whom whose job is to look busy so he has false credibility, then stink up the joint.

    • Blacks dislike immigration/immigrants because the predominantly Hispanic immigrant population does not put up with their crude behavior (I’ve dealt with both groups, and many readers may hate to hear this, but illegal immigrants are easier to deal with than blacks, by far). Also, if the situation was different and the majority of the illegals were Black Caribbean or Sub-Saharan Africans, I don’t think Blacks would be complaining.
And blacks worried about jobs? Let me end this comment and go laugh for 20 minutes.

      August 9, 2015 at 4:01 pm

    • Bernie Sanders doesn’t come across as nerdy to me at all, unless you and our host are using nerdy as a synonym for Jewish. He’s a brusque, combative, outer borough, old, Jewish lefty, not a nerd. Probably never played a role playing game in his life.

  5. Interestingly, I have met many blacks that like Trump. They say that he is a “baller”, “for real”, etc. I take that as an endorsement.

  6. The debate projected the appearance of Trump as the swaggering pimp flanked by his nine mincing hos.

  7. No. Whoever wins the GOP nomination needs the white vote. Discussing the black vote might be more fun, but one, it will never go GOP and two, you cannot overstate how much the GOP needs the white vote.

    • It is definitely fun to imagine Trump, the guy the mainstream PC crowd hates, winning more black vote than any Republican in the last few decades.

  8. Lion,
Can you write about Rubio? I know that you have a legal background. Do you know what his LSAT scores were? Do you have an estimate for his IQ?

He seems remarkably average, much more so than Jeb Bush or even George W Bush. He is the quintessential politician that the Republican establishment is pushing, which is hilarious because Americans by and large hate politicians at this point.

    August 9, 2015 at 11:54 am

    • Rubio is probably on the same intellectual level as Joe Biden.

      Lion of the Blogosphere

      August 9, 2015 at 12:12 pm

      • That seems about right to me. They both seem pretty mediocre.

        August 9, 2015 at 1:09 pm

      • Rubio may not have a sky high iq but he has loads of emotional intelligence which is the most important thing in politics. He always handles interviews tactfully and presents himself well. Extremely intelligent people tend to stumble in high level leadership roles because they get consumed by their own thoughts. After seeing his recent performances I think he has more natural political skill than all the other candidates.

        August 9, 2015 at 2:10 pm

      • Rubio is probably on the same intellectual level as Joe Biden.

No. Rubio is mediocre; Biden senile. Two different things.

        The Undiscovered Jew

        August 9, 2015 at 7:07 pm

    • Rubio thinks growing up with parents that were living paycheck to paycheck is a selling point. Years ago, another candidate (Gary Bauer) tried the same tack, always mentioning how his father was a janitor. Trump cut him down with a comment along the lines of, “I don’t know if I’d be bragging about how little my family had accomplished.”).

  10. Black women, like Arabs, like the strong horse. In that debate field it’s freaking Secretariat vs a bunch of My Little Ponies. Also, among black voters, women vote a lot more than men. In fact, it’s exactly the type of women on this video — non-ghetto black women (probably both with government jobs) — that came out in droves both times to put Obama over the top. If Trump can cut into this demographic his chances rise enormously. Every black woman vote he gets is a two vote swing: one more for him, one less for Hillary or whoever.

Trump needs to directly connect immigration with problems in the black community, and specifically target it at black females. Why is the black youth unemployment rate over 50% and your kids on the street with no work? Because Jose and Mariella have all the entry level jobs. Why isn’t your man working? Because Jose and Ramon have all the manual labor jobs. Why did your grand-daddy have a good job at the factory but nobody does now? Because they shipped all the jobs to China (ok, that one is a stretch).

Trump is also a deal maker. I’m sure he can have some private conversations with key black community leaders and let them know that he’ll keep the till open for them, as it’s been for decades, but if Hillary wins more and more of that money is going to Hispanics, Asians, Arabs and even Africans. The smarter blacks see this happening, but the cultural blocks against voting Republican are too strong. Trump may be running under R at the moment, but he’s not a “Republican” since he’s not a politician. Blacks can vote for him, especially against that crazy old white lady who does that fake black accent.

  11. Jim Webb (who trumpets up his Scots-Irish herritage) once wrote that the man who manages to align the Scots-Irish (culturally-Southern whites) and African-Americans will have an unstoppable coalition for decades to come.

    Bilbo Baggins

    August 9, 2015 at 12:08 pm

    • Uniting Scots Irish rednecks and blacks could only happen in the South through a combo of economic populism and social conservatism. Jim Webb himself could probably pull that off.

However, uniting rednecks and northern blacks is a whole other story. I don’t ever see that happening.

      August 9, 2015 at 2:20 pm

    • I think it is weird to see any politician trumpet their Scots-Irish heritage given that these folks populated the southern highlands, the most hated place on earth as far as NE whites (who control the media) are concerned. Who has been subjected to more overt media contempt than southern highlands rednecks and hillbillies? Even Hollywood movies showing Scots struggling against British bad guys make the Scots appear as buffoons (Rob Roy).

      August 9, 2015 at 3:37 pm

    • Southern whites and African-Americans

I never get over the visual symbolism when that is written. It says so much the writer might not even know.

Jim Webb loves to make a big deal about belligerent, low IQ “white trash” like it’s something to be proud of.

      It isn’t.

    • Aligning southern whites and African Americans probably won’t be a possibility for decades. Maybe after non Hispanic Whites are in the minority, they’ll find they have a lot in common with African Americans. But that is a long ways away.

  16. Blacks loved Bill. I didn’t like his politics but even I liked him. How can you not like Bill? By the same token, how can anyone like that old crone he’s married to? My impression is that most blacks don’t like her. I don’t even think Bill likes her. An election between Trump and Hillary might produce interesting voting patterns.

    August 9, 2015 at 8:37 pm

    • Most Blacks stuck with the old crone in 2008. They were the last ones to join the Obama bandwagon because they just didn’t believe he could get elected.

  17. Rand’s father was a borderline WN and had some open ones like Lew Rockwell on his staff. Rand also hired one for a senior staff position, who resigned or was fired last year when his old pro Confederacy writings became public.

I don’t think he really believes his stuff about blacks being treated unfairly by police etc, but was forced to in order to provide some distance from this history.

As a general matter, Rand’s extreme views on cutting the welfare state and public employment are objectively anti black as well.

His problem is he decided to move to the center too early. There was a point 6 to 12 months ago he looked like a front runner or at least in the top three, but he neglected his core right-wing libertarian base and now he is an also ran.

    August 9, 2015 at 9:01 pm

    • Yep, Paul has the chameleon thing inside-out. He’s just about the ideal candidate on the inside, and an establishment also-ran on the outside. He should have just run on anti-immigration, gotten the nomination, and then won the general election in a landslide. Now that Trump has positioned himself as the anti-immigration candidate it is basically impossible for Paul to recover. I hope that he learns from his catastrophic mistakes and that he gets a chance to run again.

      August 10, 2015 at 12:28 am

      • Rand may just not be smart enough to learn his lesson. Anyone who thinks he can put a winning coalition together to win the Republican nomination from Blacks, felons, college kids, and potheads is either dumb or delusional.

  18. Rubio likely has the lowest IQ of the entire 17 member field. He went to a college so awful it was shut down by the government. He then transferred to a community college and finished at U of Miami with a polisci degree.

His parents’ IQ is indicated by the fact his father was a bartender and mother was a hotel maid. This after being in the USA for more than 20 years, not what they did after arriving, when there was no shortage of successful Cubans in Florida’s booming economy.

He did pass the bar exam his first try, but Florida has one of the easiest bar exams in the country.

    August 9, 2015 at 9:15 pm

    • “Florida has one of the easiest bar exams in the country.”

      Really? I’ve heard the opposite.

      August 10, 2015 at 1:30 am

    • Florida floats around the top 10 and is often rated 3rd or 4th hardest… California has always been the toughest and doesn’t require law school last I looked.

Rubio likely did well on his LSAT He likely has a 1-in-100 IQ, about normal for good attorneys.

      August 10, 2015 at 5:50 am

    • Florida is such low down place, that it is laughable and not funny at the same time. The Sunshine State is the least Anglo-Centric of all the mainland states. It’s basically a dung hole for the Latin American types, especially those hailing from the feisty Latin Caribbean, which means it is the Hispanic equivalent of our Newark, Camden, Ferguson, Baltimore or Oakland.

Why would a sane person, want to become a professional in Florida, is anyone’s guess!
