NBC/SurveyMonkey poll!

Released yesterday. Like other polls, shows that Trump has pulled ahead of Carson, 28% to 18%. Unlike other polls, shows that Cruz has moved up to 18% to tie with Carson for second place.

I think it’s significant that Trump’s support with women increased from 22 to 27% since the previous NBC/SurveyMonkey poll. In a match between Trump and Cruz, women prefer Trump.

Party elites are still counting on Rubio to beat back Trump. Will they turn to Cruz if he stays ahead of Rubio? They prefer Rubio to Cruz, but prefer anyone to Trump.

  1. Cruz probably has the highest IQ of anyone running for president:

If it comes down to a one on one match between Cruz and Trump, that might not end well for Trump, particularly in the debates since Trump also has less political experience. Although I think it usually takes a high IQ to become a billionaire, Trump inherited a lot of his wealth and brand so he might not be quite as smart as self-made billionaires who probably average around 130.

I still greatly prefer Trump, but I worry how he will perform one on one in debates against Hillary who is an excellent debater (considered much better than Obama by the media). On the other hand Cruz is not charismatic enough to beat Hillary. Trump is.

    • Trump graduated from the Wharton School, as he likes to say a lot in interviews. He’s the only candidate who brags about his education. Other candidates are ashamed of their Ivy League education, or at least pretend to be ashamed of it.

      • Trump can get away with bragging about his education & also wealth because he has the common touch, so no one would accuse him of being elitist. By contrast, Cruz and Hillary would be called elitists if they bragged about their educations (from what I’ve read, Cruz is secretly extremely proud he went to an Ivy League school).

But Trump’s constant bragging might also come across to some as insecurity. That deep down he believes he got into Wharton largely because of his father & if so, he might have projected some of that onto Obama when he implied Obama got into Harvard Law via affirmative action.

      • If Trump becomes president, I expect him to give everyone a job, for those who want one, with good pay and benefits. That will quell the proles once and for all, who are complaining about income inequality and a lack of opportunity.

Do you think he could wave the magic hand and stop corporations from relocating their operations overseas? It’s more of a herculean feat than keeping a database of non-resident aliens in this country!!!

      • Trump is FOS (full of sh#t)!

        November 21, 2015 at 11:25 am

      • Trump transferred to Wharton from Fordham University as a super rich kid with connections. Trump is smart, smart enough to know that he should not talk to voters using more than a 4th grade vocabulary level.

Wimmin say they don’t want the wealthy, homicidal maniac. But when they enter the voting booth they do. They really, really do.

      • “And now let’s look at the other candidates … Where did you get your education, senator?”
        “And you?”
        “And you?”
        “I … Harvard.”
        “And you?”
        “Speak up, please.”
        “And you?”
        “Uh, Harvard.”
“And you, where did you get your education?”
        (All laugh)
“You saw right through me, it was Harvard.”

      • A friend of mine is a Wharton MBA grad. Trump did NOT get a Wharton MBA, he had an undergrad degree there. He is not very smart, which is obvious to anybody with half a brain who watches him speak. He had money in the family, and his family knew how to hustle, that’s all that really mattered.

        November 22, 2015 at 12:23 am

      • Smarter than Jeb Bush who had great family connections yet went to a state school.

All of Trump’s children went to Penn, which indicates his belief in quality education for his children. Unlike Sarah Palin for example.

  2. The Republican establishment is working overtime to stop Trump.
There is now even a Republican super-PAC to unhorse him.
Can you recall anything like it in the history of modern politics, where a PAC is organized to stop one particular candidate of the same party?

Our billionaire overlords must be getting very nervous as we get closer to the NH Primary.

    From Breitbart:

Keystone Cops: GOP Consultant Class Heroes Publicly Panhandling in
Desperate Bid to Derail Donald Trump

“In its incredibly limited wisdom, the D.C.-based Republican Party establishment is declaring war on current GOP voter favorite Donald Trump, and it seems they’ve enlisted the help of at least a couple of Keystone Cops — consultants Liz Mair and Rick Wilson — in an effort to destroy their own front runner…”

“The goal, according to the memo, isn’t to convert Mr. Trump’s supporters into backing other candidates, but to dissuade them from voting altogether, especially in New Hampshire’s influential first-in-the-nation primary.”

    • If I wasn’t convinced before than I’m certainly convinced now. Trump is the only candidate who hasn’t pledged fealty to establishment billionaires who want to amnesty the entire 3rd world and unlimited access to H1B’s.

    • The stupid party going after it’s front runner….it figures.

  3. This all seems very similar to the Ross Perot phenom, first time around. Not sure what to make of that.

  4. Cruz should drop out. He looks way to dorky to win. He reminds me of a preacher doing shady things on the side. His supporters will go to Trump.

    November 21, 2015 at 2:03 pm

    • This critique is actually legit. My wife hated Cruz the second he was on screen in the first debate, solely because he looks like a hobbit in her words. She of course loves Rubio, again because of appearance. Still, Cruz is the substantive Trump, and Trump is crazy lazy and ridiculous, and at some point the Trump folks will move to Cruz.

  5. Lion, what do you think of UPenn?

    November 21, 2015 at 4:59 pm

    • Trump went to UPenn so it must be a good school.

And in front of the library, there’s a Claes Oldenburg statute of huge button.

  6. SurveyMonkey is the only online poll I trust. They never had trump in the 30s like some other online polls have.

  7. This analysis is spot on. The establishment is not thrilled with Cruz but would go with him in a second if he can stop Trump. Plus they get their first Hispanic candidate – even if he (like Rubio) is paler than your average GOP voter.

    November 21, 2015 at 7:10 pm

    • Maybe…but they would have to swallow hard to accept Cruz. I would guess Cruz is number two behind Trump for the GOP hit squad.

I think maybe they would just prefer to lose to Hillary.
