It was incompetent terrorism

Morons on news channels have been talking about the supposed sophistication of the attack. Actually, it was amateur hour.

Many news events have shown that it’s not that difficult to kill a bunch of people if you have a gun and they don’t. Adam Lanza could do it and he had severe mental disabilities. It’s not clear to me that James Holmes was lucid when he shot up the movie theater. And the Columbine killers were just two stupid high school kids. Perhaps it would be more difficult if more people decided to tackle the guy with the gun, but in most of these events everyone runs away. There are no heroes out there.

Smart terrorism would be a hit and run where the terrorists get away and commit more terrorism again in the future. So far, no terrorists have been able to pull this off.

Farook made the stupid decision to shoot up the place where he works, and everyone there saw him walk out and come back with a gun and he was immediately fingered by everyone as the suspect.

Farook and his wife use [a rental car rented in their own names].

They show up three hours later in the same vehicle only a few blocks away from the scene of the crime and are easily spotted by the police.

They put a lot of effort into making pipe bombs, but not a single pipe bomb was detonated.

They had thousands of rounds of ammunition but only were able to fire a few dozen of bullets before being captured

Based on their arsenal, they clearly imagined some huge terrorist operation, but they were only able to pull off something like what a kid with severe mental disabilities could do by himself.

I guess we should be thankful that, until now, terrorists have been so incompetent, but eventually we will have to deal with competent terrorists.

  1. The people who planned 9/11 were more competent, unfortunately.

  2. Thank goodness it was. Imagine the damage a “real” terrorist could have wrought.

  4. Yeah, not too bright. Over at Sailer, somebody claimed that Faroook had a dating profile which said this:

“religios but modern family of 4, 2girls 2boys I work for county as health, safety and envorimental inspector. Enjoy working on vintage and modern cars, read religios books, enjoy eating out sometimes travel and just hang out in back yard doing target pratice with younger sister and friends. ”

Not only is the writing terrible, but they noted that Farook couldn’t spell “environmental” correctly, and he was an environmental inspector!

Zero Hedge has more. I don’t care enough to bother. I know all I need to know.

    Ted Kaczynski was quite successful.

      • Kaczynski was a first-class second rank mind, a fine (if not great) mathematician. But he didn’t end up killing a lot of people.

About these Muslim terrorists, what they do is horrible, but shooting up a place is just stupid. Since it’s no secret (Ted Koppel has a book out about this), I’ll say that a truly intelligent terrorist would take out a power grid, or the water system. They haven’t the brains to do that – yet.

Anyway it won’t change our attitude towards Muslim immigration. We’re like a drug addict who will die with his addiction.

      • I agree with @gothamette. I hate being a pessimist, but it’s true. Every time something like this happens, alt-rightists say “now the people will finally see. Now they will wake up and make the radical change that’s necessary.” But it never happens. The liberals just double down every time. Every Muslim terrorist attack is just more evidence of how we ourselves incite Islamic radicalism by being Islamophobic, and have to do even more, bend over even farther backwards to accommodate the Other.

      • You cracka’s all forgot about John F*ing Muhammad & Lee F*ing Malvo!?

Bringin’ up Ted K at a time like this… there’s that #WhitePrivilege for ya. What’s a Muslim brotha gotta do to get some respect around here?

      • Go tell this guy about Ted K.

        December 4, 2015 at 12:14 am

    • Your missing the point if you are worried about this attack not changing anybodies mind. We don’t need to convince the other side, we need to radicalize the people who are already on our side. Attacks like this and Paris help us do this.

  7. Another angle worth investigating: how much did they spend on their supplies and where the money to buy them came from? Inside their home were found thousands of rounds of ammunition, assault weapons, bullet proof vests, and the material for what’s being called an “IED factory”. They purchased all that on their own?

      • Bullets are not as expensive as you think. I just bought a 100 rds 9mm fmj for $26, about a quarter a round.

      • He earned $50,000 to $60,000.

A fair point. But what about the explosives found at the house?

        The Undiscovered Jew

        December 3, 2015 at 10:02 pm

    • NOT that expensive. Their “vast” ammo cache might have cost $1,000 if they bought in bulk. You can get a “good enough” AR for $500.

  8. The “get yourself shot” biz doesn’t seem to attract the best and brightest.

  9. I agree that these attackers were not that good. They do not appear to have had an real terrorist training. They did learn how to handle there weapons, but I also noticed that none of their pipe bombs actually went off.

They did go into the party, shot a large number of people very quickly and then got out of the building before the police arrived. However, it appears that having gotten away from the scene, they had no idea what to do next.

I have heard several different accounts of how they were first spotted. Some accounts say they were spotted by police driving away from their home. Another account said they were spotted driving past their house when police were investigating the hose. This would imply that they were trying to return to the house for some reason.

When police spotted them and they fled. They went back in the direction of the mass shooting where there were hundreds of police vehicles rather than feeling in some direction where they would be less police.

By the time they were spotted they could have been in Mexico, Los Angles or Las Vegas. If they wanted to do another terrorist attack, why drive back in the direction of all the police?

    December 3, 2015 at 7:26 pm

    • On the other hand, even the “incompetent” jihadis inflicted a 7:1 kill ratio on us. That’s going to add up pretty quick if it keeps happening.

      December 4, 2015 at 10:51 am

  10. Perhaps a more sophisticated terrorist would randomly hot wire a car as the escape vehicle and have it prepared. If that a way of becoming a more evasive terrorist?

    December 3, 2015 at 7:40 pm

  11. Well, then the $64,000 question for those who believe HBD is why don’t blacks seem to ever plan and execute these mass shootings? They are generally regarded as the most aggrieved group in the US; it would seem logical they would be doing some of these things too. Lack of neuroticism? No future time orientation? Or does it actually takes a little bit of intelligence to chart out the seven or eight admittedly not very complicated steps it takes to pull one of these things off?

    December 3, 2015 at 9:39 pm

    • Colin Ferguson, Omar Thornton, Maurice Clemmons, Nathan Dunlap, the Beltway Snipers, and Chris Dorner say, “What does a black man have to do to get some respect around here?”

      December 4, 2015 at 10:54 am

  12. Actually, the Columbine kids vastly underachieved what they had set out to do. They planned to blow up their whole school, but their bomb didn’t go off; they then came up with a back-up plan on the spot, to walk around shooting people. Elliot Rodger was the same way–he planned to enter the house of the “hottest sorority on campus” and massacre all the girls inside, but when he found the door locked, and no one would answer, he resorted to just shooting a few random passers-by.

  13. This seems like a Muslim version of Bonnie and Clyde.

    December 4, 2015 at 12:56 am

  14. Not that this excuses or undercuts the jihadi thesis, but Farook had an argument with a Jew for Jesus who was among the victims:

Perhaps this is what set him off. I’m sure the alt-right white nationalist will argue this. They find a way to blame the Jew. (Thalasinos is a Jewish name? It seems totally Greek to me.)

    December 4, 2015 at 7:34 am

    • “loudly declaring that Farook “doesn’t agree that Islam is not a peaceful religion.””

I think the Jewish-Christian guy won that debate. Although it was a pyrrhic victory.

        December 4, 2015 at 10:27 pm

      • I got the impression that it was a screaming match, and that the so-called Messianic Jew was obsessed in his way. Not that that excuses anything. This was obviously a planned terror attack.

        December 4, 2015 at 11:10 pm

      • I’m looking forward to the day where Christian Islamophobes will become messianic muslims, when they discovered that Islam also believes in Jesus Christ, just as former anti-semites are now friends of jews.

        December 5, 2015 at 2:44 pm

      • It won’t happen. Christians can become Semitophilic because they believe in the same Old Testament as the Jews, and Jesus was Jewish. There is no such connection to Islam.

        Lion of the Blogosphere

        December 5, 2015 at 3:28 pm

      • Religious Jews do not believe another Jew could be the son of God. Muslims believe Jesus was one of their prophets. Yet, Judeophile Christians want you to believe that Christianity and Judaism are intertwined, hence a hodge podge cult like Messianic Judaism was formed.

        December 5, 2015 at 4:01 pm

    • Given the stupidity and shallow prejudices of many low class- parochial, native meriproles that the perpetrator had to endure, one should view this shooting rampage as a personal vendetta, where the shooter uses Islamic extremism as a singular intent to facilitate his vengeance.

    December 5, 2015 at 5:49 am

  16. Most incompetent terrorist award, I guess, had to go to the guy in Kansas who decided to go on a Jew-killing spree and killed three Christians. (Always liked to say anti-Semites were the bottom of the prejudice barrel…)

They gave him the first death penalty in 50 years…
