Press stormed the suspects’ apartment?

http://mashable.com/2015/12/04/san-bernardino-shooters-apartment-journalists/#PAH8w0Le0gq9

This looks like a huge screwup by the FBI or whomever was supposed to be controlling the crime scene.

* * *

From the NY Times:

There were images of religious texts, including a prayer book in Arabic and one that purported to help the faithful avoid mistakes during prayer.

In what appeared to be the living room, a sparkly banner typical of those that recount the 99 names for Allah was affixed to the wall. A sticker was attached to a piece of furniture, saying, in part, “Praise be to Allah who relieved me from suffering and gave me relief.”

Sounds like jihadism.

2:08 PM Latest news: the landlord was escorted away by law enforcement. Is he under arrest for entering the apartment?

2:12 Now CNN says it’s an “ISIS-Inspired” attack. If that’s what they want to call it instead of jihadism or terrorism, it’s good enough to scare people into voting for Donald Trump.

  1. If the police or FBI had sealed off the apartment as a crime scene or as the site of an ongoing investigation they presumably would have left an official notice on the exterior. If all there were was the plywood (obviously replacing the kicked-in door) I don’t see why the landlord and reporters did anything wrong.

    • The suspects are dead so we don’t have to worry about them. Presumably the police already took everything out of the apartment that might lead to associates.

  4. Good for the landlord, I bet he’s a Trump supporter. Probably got sick of hearing that the motive is a big mystery.

What would Donald Trump do about this?

Syed Farook was a natural born US Citizen, the son of Pakistani parents who had legally immigrated to the USA

His wife was a Pakistani who legally immigrated to the US on fiancée visa and had since gotten a green card. You have to pass a security check to get that visa and green card, so she had apparently kept her views private.

Are we going to lock all Muslims in prison camps like we did the Japanese during WW II? How do you decide who is a Muslim and who is not?

Oh yeah, that’s the way to make America great again. Start locking people up in prison camps based on religion.

    • Doesn’t matter what Trump would do, he is the guy who’s tough on jihad and doesn’t care about the hurt feelings of peaceful Muslims.

    • This proves (not for the first time!) the danger of Muslim immigration. Even the offspring of Muslim immigrants who have lived here their whole lives are not peaceful, loyal, and properly assimilated – they can go jihad at any time.

If we got rid of all the recent immigrants from Middle East / North African countries – and yes, the children who were born here too – and only had to deal with “home-grown” Muslims, we’d be much better off.

And hey we can start by passing laws that ban the Koran as hate speech and the wearing of Muslim garb as offensive. The Left has shown us the way on this one!

      • Based on the anecdotal stories, this sounds like a jihadi woman with her cuckolded beta-male husband. One story said that his parents helped him to create his online dating profile. Based on this, the home violence stories, and this outcome, his parents sound suitably messed up.

    • He should advocate paying people to renounce their citizenships. I would be comfortable doing it explicitly based on race and religion but if that won’t fly he should just do anyone who is or descends from a post 1965 immigrant.

    • “What would Donald Trump do about this?”

Well for starters, if you’re in a hole, stop digging. Maybe he would STOP letting worthless trash from Pakistan enter the country legally.

Longer term, one hopes he could change our stupid rules like birthright citizenship.

“How do you decide who is a Muslim and who is not?”

You can probably identify 95% of them by where they came from or where their parents came from. Black converts to Farrakhan style Islam are a totally different thing.

“Oh yeah, that’s the way to make America great again. Start locking people up in prison camps based on religion.”

Actually, it would do quite a lot to improve America if every Muslim, assimilated or not, were told to get the hell out. I don’t expect this to happen, and it would not, on its own, make America great again, but it would be a damn good start.

      • Someone willing to say they are not a Muslim, and never attend a Mosque, are not terrorist threats. So that’s a good enough determination.

Taking a broader view, one could say that Obama is Muslim.

        The First Amendment says:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The very first right in the Bill of Rights is the freedom of religion. It comes before the freedom of speech or the press and before the right to bear arms, which is in the Second Amendment. That tells you how important the founding fathers viewed the freedom of religion.

Freedom of religion is one of the core founding principals that made America great. You cannot keep America great by discarding our core principals in the face of a few terrorists distorting religion to suit their political cause.

      • We could say that the original intent of the Founders was that different sects of Christianity would be allowed to worship as they saw fit. They never intended to allow a hostile religion like Islam to grow like a cancer within the United States.

This is the same argument that liberals use for the Second Amendment. They were talking about the type of weapons available in 1786, they never imagined modern assault rifles.

      • “We could say that the original intent of the Founders was that different sects of Christianity would be allowed to worship as they saw fit.”

This reasoning is similar to the Supreme Court logic behind the Dred Scott decision. In Dred Scott the Supreme Court argued the South Carolina politician, who authored of the privileges and immunity clause in the Constitution, did not indent it to apply to African Americans. However, It was the plain words of the Constitution that were ratified by the states, not the author’s unstated intentions.

It was also the plain words of the First Amendment that were approved by the states.

There is also the question of whether Islam can in fact be loosely considered a Christian religion, since Islam recognizes Jesus as a prophet and a messenger of god.

“This is the same argument that liberals use for the Second Amendment. They were talking about the type of weapons available in 1786, they never imagined modern assault rifles.”

        The Second Amendment says:

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

In the 21st century, a well regulated militia would be armed with assault rifles, fully automatic machine guns, grenades, bazookas, RPGs, anti-tank missiles, and a host of other weapons. I believe all the other weapons I listed, except for assault rifles, are illegal in the USA.

Some court has decided that it would be insane to let criminals and terrorist legally purchase things like anti-tank and shoulder launched anti-aircraft missiles, even though a modern militia would probably have such weapons. Liberals contend it should be insane to allow anyone to purchase an assault rifles too. This is an argument about where do you draw the line between hunting rifles and military weapons that are too destructive to let them fall in the hands of criminals and terrorists.

The authors of the Second Amendment could not have anticipated these kinds of weapons. Islam on the other hand, had existed for more than one thousand years when the First Amendment was written.

-all of these weapons are very much legal (not sure about the missiles) for personal ownership, but anything beyond semi-automatic weapons requires a special license and documentation. there are many people who have live rocket launchers, cannons (definitely as new as from the Vietnam era), and machine guns. But this requires people being in your business with serious background checks and government tracking.

  6. “Taking a broader view, one could say that Obama is Muslim.”

While Obama strikes me as the sort who is probably an atheist, he has all but said that he is a Muslim sympathizer. Shoot, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos he referred to “my Muslim faith” and Stephanopoulos practically leapt out of his chair to put the words back in Obama’s mouth before anyone could hear them.

That said, it would not surprise me in the least if Obama were to at some point in his post-presidency suddenly “realize” that his a Muslim after all and always has been.

        exactly.

in fact, it’s #2 on the SWPL list.

“White people will often say they are ‘spiritual’ but not religious. Which usually means that they will believe any religion that doesn’t involve Jesus. Popular choices include Buddhism, Hinduism, Kabbalah and, to a lesser extent, Scientology. A few even dip into Islam.”

      • The spirit of Islam is completely different from Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, or various indigenous polytheistic traditions, other than the fact that they’re all “exotic.”

In Hinduism there is a lot of emphasis on virtue, compassion and nonviolence, as well as universalism (one of the few universalist-leaning cultures other than whites, which shouldn’t be a surprise since they are also Arya [a Sanskrit word]). But they’re not total pushovers. They will fight when it comes down to it. Generally the force used by Hindus is used to defend themselves, for self-preservation, etc. Although it can verge on extremist at times.

It would be completely naive to ignore that the use of force is sometimes necessary, when so much evil abounds in the world.

In yet another case of thinking he’s smarter than everyone else, he has no time for crackers who probably never even met a Muslim telling him how dangerous it is.
