Trump can win the White House

Jamie Weinstein at the Daily Caller explains how Trump can win the White House.

I especially enjoyed the following:

Trump has no set in stone an ideology other than winning. If he has to modify some of the promises he made during the Republican primary in order to win the general election, who doubts he will? And just try and call him out on it. When has Trump ever been harmed by being caught in a flip-flop or a lie? He just denies he has flip-flopped or lied, even when there is overwhelming evidence, and moves along. Such a strategy doesn’t work for most candidates, but for some reason it works for Donald Trump.

There’s a lot more like that in the article. Finally, journalists are admitting Trump could win.

  1. I think what confuses people is that Trump is not ideologically committed to the Republican talking points. He’s well to the right of GOP Inc on immigration. Yet he is the only candidate except maybe Sanders who is talking about reigning in free trade, an article of faith for GOP Inc. He’s not doveish, but he’s also the only one willing to sit down and talk to Putin, rather than resort to mindless saber rattling and dick swinging.

In other words, since they can’t pigeon-hole Trump, they say he’s a flip-flopper or a liar or whatever. And what are his supposed “flip flops” anyway? The article doesn’t say. What, did he change his mind on something from ten years ago? GOOD! Circumstances change. Only ideological nit-wits stick to their guns when the target changes.

The simple fact is Trump is the only adult in the race from either party, and journalists, who are mostly overgrown adolescents like the candidates, get confused by adult behavior.

  2. Trump is the new Teddy Roosevelt..a take no prisoners aristocrat with the audacity to truly help the common man. Bully!!!

  3. Trump speaks extemporaneously. Speaking what you think instead of what you are prompted (scripted)makes you more believable, but the fluidity and personal truths give the media more ammunition to attack you.

  4. Trump can win because large numbers of people are fed up with both the Democrats and the Republican establishment. Trump is the only candidate who holds out the possibility of real change for the disaffected right, independents and blue-collar democrats. The issues of immigration, the Islamic threat, and trade deals are not being adequately addressed by the other candidates. In addition, his political incorrectness has been a big plus for him because millions of people view that as a badge of authenticity.
