ISIS has passport printing machines

Trump said that Syrian refugees could be jihadists.

Obama says, don’t worry, we do a rigorous background check.

Today Reuters reports that ISIS has access to Syrian passport printing machines, plus possible access to government databases, thus they are able to give their jihadists a false identity with a genuine Syrian passport to back it up.

  1. This doesn’t change anything to liberals. Rejecting Syrian refugees is still “racist”. Obama will assure us that the refugees go through the most thorough screening without telling us how on earth it is possible to screen them. Poor analogies will be made to the Pilgrims and Jews escaping Nazis.

We will still hear nothing about how the San Bernardino shooter was able to come here with a fake address or all the other complete failures of our immigration system.

    • Even if ISIS didn’t have access to printing machines, how hard would it be to bribe passport workers in a country which is in total chaos? For that matter, what’s stopping ISIS operatives from simply applying for passports like any other resident of Syria? It’s hard to imagine that the Syrian vetting process is any good.

Ahh, but if we discuss these issues we are playing right into ISIS’ hands.

  2. The only way for western liberals to acquire any sense is for western people to be raped and murdered again and again and again. The hope is that between here and total annihilation, a flicker of recognition will cross the dim intellects of our stupid overlords.

    • The likely outcome for many key Western “leaders” is the ‘full Mussolini’.

I’d say it’s fully baked into the cake at this point, but as of now, it’s not necessarily inevitable.

The issue is that the more the West’s “leaders” double down on their ideology, the higher the probability of that outcome.

  3. I’ve long wondered how it’s possible to do extensive background checks in a country that’s been in chaos for 4+ years. And now I know. It’s impossible.

  4. Sabril has a good point, and this is something of a non-story. Just about every government on the planet, except for the most psycho-abusive regimes, will give its citizens/ subject a passport. Having a passport is no big deal. Many Americans don’t have one since the country is continent sized and most Americans never have occasion to leave it. People will have passports if they live in a Syria sized country.

If there is any truth to the story, its that since ISIS claims to be an entirely new country, separate from Syria, and doesn’t recognize the government in Damascus, they have to set up some of the functions of a sovereign government themselves, such as issuing passports.

  5. Agree with above: they’re a country, by their own lights, why wouldn’t they have passports?

    • We’re still pretending that they’re not a country, but minus diplomatic recognition, they are functioning as an actual state. The Caliphate is now.
