Trump at 43% in Georgia

Trump finally breaks into the 40s in a poll.

As I keep saying, there won’t be a brokered convention. Trump will win a majority of the delegates.

  1. I hope so. Also, I like your Trump commentary. Do as much of it as you like.. I think your observation that this is the most important election since 1860 was spot on. I also thought that it was kind of scary: remember the Civil War happened as a result of Lincoln’s election.

      • I think this is the sentiment that keeps many hard liners on the right from getting behind Trump. They’ve been preparing for years for the coming civil war, stacking ammunition, buying guns, getting training, etc. Hopeful that on the other side of war they’ll get the country they’ve always hoped and dreamed for.

Now here comes this Trump guy who’s promising them only 70% of what they want while avoiding war.

In which case I say, grow up.

      • As a Jew you have no concern that Trump is apparently Hitler? A Fascist? And that his supporters are motivated only by fear and hate?

First he’s coming for the Mexicans. Then the Muslims. Then….. well you know. Who will be left to protect you?

That’s what I’ve been told by the Better White People who run the media.

      • If Trump becomes president, he will be the most culturally Jewish president in history. (It’s ironic that he has the support of white nationalists who hate Jews.)

Furthermore, that he’s “coming for” people is lie propagated by the leftist media. Not allowing more people to move here does not mean he’s “coming for” anyone. Sending illegal aliens (not voting citizens) back to their home countries is also not coming for them.

      • No, you damn well don’t. The American Civil War killed 1 million Americans and reduced the South to poverty for generations.

Americans tend to forget just how bad war is because we haven’t had one on our own soil since 1812. This is also one of the reasons we are the most powerful nation in the world. War destroys infrastructure and consumes huge amounts of the GDP. It curtails civil liberties and grows the size of government.

Civil wars are even worse, because the country winds up split and distrustful for generations afterwards. Family members wind up on opposite sides fairly often…are you prepared to kill your liberal sister?

I think SJWs are a whiny bunch of self-righteous helicopter children who need a spanking. I am *not* ready to buy a rifle and shoot my local fat feminist with purple hair.

I’m not going to go with the war?…what is it good for? absolutely nothing! statement, but really, you don’t want a civil war.

      • Rifle: my political views are essentially negative, they are motivated first and foremost by hate. I decide who I support not based on what I am for, but rather what I am against.

There are two groups I hate more than any others: Liberals and immigrants. There is essentially NO price I wouldn’t be willing to pay to get rid of those two groups.

I know you were joking, but lets say for the sake of argument that Trump really was a Nazi who was going to exterminate the Jews. First of all, as a believer I am confident that anyone who attempts such would fail but even aside from that, what is worse, to die or to live as a slave is a DailyKos/Colbert Report dystopia?

First lets destroy the liberals and immigrants, then we can deal with the Paleocons/Nazis later.

      • “Uh….huh?”

I think he meant Yankees, not Americans. It’s easy for a northerner to conflate the two. Growing up in Virginia in the 1950s we had neighbors who were still angry about losing the war. As a transplant from the midwest I found it hard to understand.

  3. Winning the Islamophobic rednecks in Georgia is much different than winning the Christian idiots in Iowa or the “maverick” douchebags in NH.

Trump is currently at ~35%. He isn’t going to go any higher before the primaries. What we need to do is win IA and NH and then use the momentum to get his numbers into the 40s in the other states.

What are the chances that if Trump wins IA, NH and SC that the establishment then consolidates around Cruz? Rubio is a weak candidate and when he can’t even come in 2nd in any of the first 3 states, Cruz would seem to be the best “not Trump” choice. He has money, organization and anti-establishment cred. He currently narrowly beats Trump in head to head polls.

    • That Trump can’t win more than 35% of the vote is based on two false assumptions:

      1. Trump is nobody’s second choice.
      2. No one currently supporting other candidates will jump on the Trump bandwagon after he starts winning elections.

I predict that after winning IA, NH and SC, we will then see Trump winning more than 50% of the vote.

      • More than 50% with Carson and Cruz still in the race? No way.

30% of Republicans are establishment. They will never vote for Trump. Trump is only viewed favorably by ~58% of Republican primary voters. Even in a 2 man race head to head against Rubio Trump only polls at ~46%.

Now after Trump wins IA and NH then he certainly could pull some soft support from Cruz and Carson and maybe even get some previous non voters but that gets him 45% at best.

Iowan Evangelicals like anti-Muslim talk almost as much as Georgians. Trump’s ban on Muslim immigration might be what puts him over the top there. And if ISIS puts into action more attacks (quite plausible because ISIS is feeling the high from their winning streak) then I’d say Trump is a lock for Iowa.

Cruz is hated by his fellow Republican Senators, I’ve heard.

He’s not one of “the boys”, too smart, too independent.

Rubio is a dumb, non threatening go-along-with-the-group type.

    • Rifle: But Rubio is a lightweight mimbo. He can’t beat Trump. Cruz can.

Also Cruz is the only guy with enough cred with the base to even have a remote chance of uniting the party for the general. My guess is that Cruz is going to start looking very appealing the establishment after SC.

    • A Cruz presidency would be the final nail in the coffin for this country – would turn it into the third world slum it’s always secretly wanted to be. This guy would be monumentally corrupt, an American Robert Mugabe. He’s a total sociopath and despite his supposed ‘anti-establishment cred’ (which mostly arises from his refusal to accomodate the GOP establishment in order to fortify his own interests instead) he’s spent a great deal of his time in Congress making some of the most asinine proposals in recent history, such as increasing the annual H1-B quota from 85,000 to 325,000 and otherwise accommodating illegal aliens. Cruz doesn’t care one iota for the interests of the Americans he represents and quite rightly would have no chance in a general election.

  4. I have my doubts about Trump’s ability to win the center-right, let alone the general public. Also, as a New Yorker, you really should remember his long history of ripping people off.

I’m mostly hoping he gets other Republicans to promise immigration restriction.

    • They will promise then not deliver. If it isn’t Trump ramming it down their throats during his term, can you imagine someone else doing it?

Only Trump has the will, and the economic and social capital, to call out congressmen by name… to the point of hurting their re-election campaigns. This is the reason establishment politicians don’t want him in power. He will highlight their actions, not their words.

Look how much he does now to set the agenda, and this is before the primaries. The presidency is a giant megaphone that they don’t want him to have, because then his voice is 10x louder, and they are 10x less free.
