Republican debate!

More to come…

8:45 Just noticed that Ted Cruz is short compared to the other candidates. Maybe this sounds like a frivolous comment, but it has been observed that short candidates do worse at the polls.

8:57 Cruz is saying that “radical Islamic terrorism” is the enemy and the president won’t name it. Sounds like he’s copying Donald Trump.

9:11 Christie says because he used to be a lawyer he’s uniquely qualified to combat ISIS. Huh?

9:16 Cruz is talking over the heads of the typical prole white voter. Trump’s advantage is that he sticks to the big picture.

9:20 Now Christie is making fun of Cruz Rubio and Paul debating over nuances of Senate bills that 99% of the audience doesn’t care about.

9:35 So far, this debate pans out as Rubio and Cruz attacking each other and leaving Trump alone.

10:51 These debates are tiring… anyway, just noted how Trump was asked about the “nuclear triad,” he has no idea what the question is about, so he talks about the problem of nuclear proliferation instead. Rubio then smugly goes into policy details, no doubt thinking “ha ha Trump, I know so much more about this stuff than you do.”

While I’m writing, I should mention that earlier in the debate, Rubio was forced to admit that he approved amnesty, which weakens him. Then Rubio attacked Cruz for wanting to increase legal immigration.

  4. I’m tired of the debates. The hour has come to send Trump into general election combat.

  6. I was following it on Twitter. Someone said that at one point Trump lost the crowd, but then he made a remark, and the crowd roared in approval. what was that?

Cogent point. Where is the seriousness behind this issue that affects millions???

    • Finally! After all of these debates, this is the first time that Rubio has been put in a corner on that. I blame the moderators who have pointedly avoided the issue.

  8. Trump answered the triad question perfectly. Hugh (Cold War) Hewitt still thinks we’re at war with the USSR. Trump re-focused the question on the real threat, a loner walking a bomb across the border and blowing up a city.

    • I’m not surprised that Hewitt would try to trip Trump up. Hewitt is still burning from the last time Trump slammed him.
