Preschool outdoors

Look at the pictures in the NY Times article.

The program, in its third year, is less than seven miles from Microsoft, which means some parents sit in front of computers all day inventing the digital future.

Certainly none of the Indian programmers at Microsoft send their kids to this kind of preschool. It’s a very white phenomenon, with the exception of one little child with a Japanese name.

  1. Wow, those kids have extreme SWPL names: Audette, Danton, Wallace, Bay and Theodore!

So while the white parents are worrying over “nature deficit disorder” the Indian parents are conniving how they can take everything possible from gullible whitey.

  2. Three of the kids in the big closeup look at least partially asian. Racial lines tend to blur with really young and really old people so it can be hard to tell.

    • There is a huuugggeee amount of White/Asian mating at tech companies like Microsoft.

  3. I think Americans get sick a lot more nowadays because they didn’t spend enough time outdoors as children. Heavy outdoor play makes a child hardy and resilient as an adult.

    December 30, 2015 at 12:07 PM

    • And they don’t spend enough time around animals. We’ve lived in close proximity to them for tens of thousands of years. There’s probably something about them that benefits us.

      December 30, 2015 at 12:19 PM

      • This is capital! I never thought about this, could been true. But, say, I get an orange cat, what could be the benefit?

        December 30, 2015 at 2:19 PM

      • Yeah, definitely.

Also, the positive metabolic effects of shivering in wintering and sweating in summer can toughen up a person as well.

        December 30, 2015 at 2:54 PM

      • “But, say, I get an orange cat, what could be the benefit?”

Some think they help boost the immune system in some, as of yet, mysterious way. With regard to psychology, my uncle has a cattle farm and one day while visiting and watching him talk and caress (pet) the cows I realized why they ran at full throttle every time he entered their pasture even though he wasn’t feeding them; they really liked him. I get this same feeling from my dogs. I talk to them and they have various ways of talking back, though not with words. I know it sounds weird, but there is an amazing amount of communication going on. There’s a theory out there giving the domestication of dogs a central role in the victory of humans over other archaic humanoids; the ‘dogs helped us defeat Neanderthals’ theory.

      • “Some think they help boost the immune system in some, as of yet, mysterious way.”

Contact with animals affects your gut biome because they have different bacteria, some of it helpful to humans. Same thing happens through contact with grass, trees, dirt, ponds, etc. Generally this exposure is for the better. For that matter, sex alters your biome too (you ARE who you sleep with). Which is one theory why promiscuity is bad, because your gut biome gets too hosed up by too many other people’s bacteria.

This lack of exposure is made significantly worse by our drug-addicted culture, and here by “drugs” I mean massive overuse of antibiotics and other “good” drugs, especially in children.

        December 30, 2015 at 4:25 PM

      • Makes sense about cows and animals. Is UV lamp bad then? They instal them in ACs to kill mold but it kills the useful bacteria also, right?

Promiscuity isn’t a problem if you use condoms. I’m speaking only medically here.

Neanderthal theory is far fetched. They fought wild animals, why would they have a problem with a domesticated dog? Scratch that.

I think you should add sleeping in the barn to beneficial practices.

I once had a landlady, she owned the place, so her husband was a Scottish guy who converted to Judaism. They had a collie and that collie used to sleep in the same bed as they. It was his collie and his freaky idea. So listen to this, my prole daughter flushed two hamsters down the toilet and they came out of the landlady’s toilet downstairs. Wow! They way she screamed! You could hear it a mile away. So I don’t see how domesticated dogs could help against Neanderthal. I feel that I have some neanderthal blood in me, I don’t know why, but I feel it. So let me tell you that a coolie wouldn’t help you against me. You got to up the ante.

But this story just gets better. So the landlady and the dog are downstairs, we are on the second floor and two single Jewish guys are in the attic. One guy is a programmer and the other one is a plumber and they get along fine. The plumber, though, has a huge python that he feeds live mice to. So the landlady thinks it’s the plumber who flushed those hamsters. She gets those hamsters in a bag and goes upstairs to fight with the plumber. That was such a riot! I mean, one has a coolie, the other a python and they are fighting about who flushed the hamsters down the toilet! Just burry them and fugget about it already. They are dead!

But it gets better still. I ask my daughter why she did it. So she tells me: ‘I thought they live in the sewer. Aren’t they sewer rats?’ This is an American prole – totally uneducated. I mean, who would think that a hamster is a rat?

  4. Lion, are those the same Indian programmers who “have a lack of creativity and love of bureaucracy” and only top out at middle management positions? In SIlicon Valley, you will find the highest rated public elementary schools overflowing with such progeny; 5 year old kids who are expected to sit down for hours, read, write, follow instructions, and take a 15 minute recess. Long-term SAT prep, essentially. All to lay the foundation for academic and eventual career success.

Where do the well-off high-IQ creative types send their progeny? Hint: not the meat grinder above. Not much space for success there with the relatively high-T kids common to the latter group.

If you ever have a couple of these crazy kids you’ll probably get your ass so profoundly kicked. They also will be able to close the achievement gap to the former group of robo-kids, when they are ready.

    Not so desperate Googler

  5. I feel so bad for those little kids. Where I grew up they made us go outside for recess, and wait outside for the morning doors to open, if it was warmer than 10F. They didn’t factor in wind chill. It was hellish.

And way back in the olden days of my youth we had more than a cumulative hour of recess.

Plus gym was outside. They even made us ski.

    • I attended several public schools in coastal NC that lacked central air. As a consequence I save a lot on my energy bill down here in Georgia nowadays – I feel comfortable indoors with the thermostat set at 80.

      December 30, 2015 at 2:57 PM

      • You have a point. NYC winters feel tropical to me, not counting this one which actually is tropical.

And a thermostat at 62F feels toasty. My sister keeps hers on 55.

      • We’ve determine that AC is prole, and in a prole state such as Arizona, Lion doesn’t need AC, despite the high heat during high noon in the summertime. Desert climate is more tolerable than the humid tropics or what one finds in the Northeast, with its 90F/100% humidity.

States/Regions where prole New Yorkers tend to relocate, from proliest to prole: Florida, the South, Arizona, Illinois and California.

  6. This would be a good voting bloc for R’s to cultivate, since these parents are leading a reactionary movement against the sweatshop left of “Lean In” and “The World Is Flat.” The MSM has a huge undertaking in hushing up the fact that these two groups are mortal adversaries, and R’s are too clueless to exploit the division.

What usually happens is that some libertarian cons awkwardly try to cultivate the wrong team (the sweatshoppers), who are far more concerned about getting set-asides from the D’s than befriending their supposed libertarian brethren.

  7. Another entry under “How to avoid NAMs” .

I commented on the take-off of outdoor preschool months ago, when the phenomenon started in Norway as an alternative to having your kids bullied by muslims in public school.

Even in San Francisco and Bay Area there are lots of the wrong kinds of asians (Southeast asians are blacks with epicanthal folds) and lots of blacks and hispanics, so it’s almost impossible to avoid some level of diversity unless you are rich, without doing some kind of “outdoor school” that NAMs would never in a million years sign up for.

  8. That article was hilarious. The kids looked kind of miserable huddled together in that shelter. One of them will grow up and write a book about this, about how his well-meaning Chinese mother and Jewish father sent him to a nature school when he was 3, and all he wanted to do was color in a book. Inside.

  9. The IT Indian parents think this is waste of time. They think its smarter to have their kids learn math and reading so they are ahead of the other kids in 1st grade.

Unfortunately Indian parents don’t realize that you need to be only so smart to get a good job. After that social skills, confidence, physical stamina and strength, etc all count for more.

    • Jimi….you do realize that white parents and Asian parents are NOT competing for same resources. White kids can grow to be athletes, musicians, tv personalities, instagram celebs….Asians are not going to make any headway there. Posters here act as if due to Asians the whitey’s slice of the pie will be limited.

      • You never know. I once enjoyed Swan Lake at Royal Opera House. The Dance of the Little Swans is one of the most amazing things we (humans) created in our history. Here they were on stage: three relatively tall thin White swans and one short fat Asian. Well, that was one of the very few times in my life that I did experience cognitive dissonance. If Asians can dance the Dance of the Little Swans in London, they can do anything.

        December 31, 2015 at 1:28 AM

      • ” athletes, musicians, tv personalities, instagram celebs”

Surely you jest. What’s that, .01% of the population?

      • Very moving performance.

      • A fat Swan is very unusual. Could she jump though?

In Russia, where I lived, they had a lake and one day they introduced some swans into it. I guess they were trying to gentrify our prole neighborhood. In a few days the swans were eaten. All that was left was bones, empty vodka bottles and used condoms. The principal spoke about it in school and got us all realy mad that we weren’t the lucky once to eat them. They never reintroduced them again into the lake. I never ate swan until I got to Brooklyn, here you can just buy a swan bottom ready to cook. This is a much better arrangement because you don’t have to waste time catching, strangling, feathering, and cutting this bird. And everyone wants a bottom, so you have to fight just to get some of it. America is number one, every time I go to Prospect Park I’m amazed by all the living fauna floating in the lake a d nobody is catching them. You would think that at least NAMs would eat them fresh, no they don’t. America is a civilized country. Let’s keep it this way and vote Trump.

        December 31, 2015 at 8:47 AM

      • The fat swan could jump, but because of different proportions of her body, everything she did was out of phase. They prohibit to videotape anything. Most likely, because of that fat swan. If I were you, I would not eat swan.

        December 31, 2015 at 8:04 PM

      • No way! I eat all kosher animals, birds and fish. I didn’t find swan too good. I’m not eating it again. Generally, I found that the basic animals are the most tasty: cow, lamb, chicken, goat. All theseh ducks and swans and bisons are nothing to write home about. Zebu us good, though. I believe a pork is very good, but a rabbit, is a rabbit good? JS, is a frog good? I had half a bottle of champaign, I’m intoxicated mates. Happy New Year! Trump, only Trump. He is amazing.

Lion is no good, he doesn’t wish anybody. He isn’t a real American. Deport him to Israel. And me too. Deport all Jews to Israel. I’m drunk. Have a great year! And vote Trump.

  10. My wife and I were looking at day care places (you can call them preschools if you want) recently for our daughter. We looked at ten+ places. Not because we are that choosy. No. We looked at three of them and then realized that it is the entertainment to look at how screwed up they can be. One of the weirdest places that we looked at makes their own yogurt, includes sand box therapist in base pay, and keeps indoor temperature close to outdoor temperature – because they think children do not get sick this way. Amazingly, the most reasonable day care without weird philosophy, but with happy children from decent families, also happens to be the least expensive.

    December 31, 2015 at 1:52 AM

    • My grandkids all went to prole groups. None of the teachers had college degrees. They really were no different than then the places I went to, even better. Kids dig in the dirt and play with toys and each other. Nobody was thinking too much about them.

  11. “Less than seven miles from Microsoft…”

Just imagine, “Less than seven miles from Goldman Sachs (or insert hedgefund name here)…”

Microsofties with kids like to live on the Eastside – on the other side of Lake Washington, where Gates also has his house. The SWPLs of north Seattle are mostly insufferable liberal white bourgeois bohemians who don’t necessarily work in tech. On the Eastside in every little strip mall you’ll see one or two private tutoring and test prep schools… no outdoor facilities are needed.
