The debate I didn’t watch

Based on this Washington Post summary, it seems like Donald Trump didn’t lose anything by not being there. Rubio and Cruz attacked each other on immigration, weakening both of them. And other candidates also attacked Cruz.

Drudge has a really sneaky poll question. Instead of asking who won the debate, like he has every other debate, this time he asks “WHO IS YOUR REPUBLICAN PICK FOR PRESIDENT?” And Trump wins with 52% of the vote (as of 12:22 AM on Friday morning).

I watched The Revenant as promised. Will write about it tomorrow.

  1. This clip would be great for a last minute attack ad against Cruz.

  3. I’m curious about the ratings for this debate. If someone like me, who is politically engaged, didn’t watch it, who did?

    • It was the second lowest rated debate; only 13 million watched.

    • A terrible film and I would warn people to stay away from it. Some things you can’t unsee.

  5. Should we assume you watched it in the theater?

    • Of course I did. I would never violate the law and illegally download a torrent file (even though it’s very easy to do).

  6. I thought Ted Cruz looked exceptionally attractive. Did he lose some weight? I don’t know what color that suit was but it was really working for him. Actually, I was getting turned on. Seriously.

In terms of substance I thought everyone except Carson did well. Rubio did better than in previous debates, but he still looks to me as if someone has a gun to his head and is making him talk. I think it is he and not Cruz who comes across as angry.

    • Cruz’ voice is terrible.

      January 29, 2016 at 11:40 AM

      • yes his voice is ripe for vicious parody…as bad as Palin’s voice only in a different way.

can’t he do something about it – ?

    • Greasy Ted Cruz looks like a Gotham villain in the making, specifically, a young Penguin nemesis of Batman. And your natural affinity for guidos make sense, given the character was played by guido midget Danny DeVito.

      • The fact that you had to put Ted in a penguin outfit to make him look silly proves that there’s nothing wrong with his appearance. OK, he’s not the most handsome guy on earth. But that characterization applies to most men.

JS, you probably don’t want to use the term “greasy” to describe any Mediterranean man. Wasn’t this term once used on Jews?

And incidentally, Cruz is only 1/8 guido.

To those who think Cruz’s voice is grating, realize that it could be worse. What would you do if the Republicans were considering another man that Maryk had a crush on? Imagine a one on one debate between Cruz and Gilbert Gottfried!

        January 29, 2016 at 1:20 PM

      • I never said he was ugly or what not. Just a slick talking oil ball – 2 good 2 be true type of guy.

        January 29, 2016 at 4:39 PM

    • Rubio talks too fast. He sounds scripted too, probably more so than any other candidate. If he’s practicing so much you’d think he’d learn to space his words out better.

  7. Agree last night’s debate changes nothing. If anything Cruz’s under-performance and Kelly’s tearing Rubio up over amnesty strengthens Trumps upward momentum in Iowa.
