Last Resort

An enjoyable (but not great) TV series about the officers and crew of a nuclear sub which goes renegade after the captain and XO refuse a shady order to fire nuclear missiles on Pakistan.

I was expecting the one 13-episode season to end in a cliffhanger, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the last episode gives the impression that the creators had just enough notice before the last episode that the series was cancelled, allowing them to wrap things up.

  2. Who ordered nukes on pok-ee-STON? Surely not the black president.

  3. Not a great series. I bailed after about episode 6 or 7, after it became obvious that the nuke attack was not the result of some secret cabal, but actual US policy, the “Bolton doctrine.” So the sub and it’s crew were deserters and traitors the whole time.

  4. I like any show where I get to watch Australian beauty Dichen Lachman a few minutes a week. The other ladies are easy on the eyes, too.

  5. I just stumbled across a movie made in 2002 called K-19: The Widow Maker. Although based on a real sub, the producer took broad liberties with the truth. Anyway, it was another enjoyable sub movie.
