Rubio pushed amnesty in a big way

Devastating (for Rubio) article in yesterday’s NY Times about how Rubio’s role in the “Gang of Eight” was to sell the amnesty bill (cleverly called “comprehensive immigration reform”) to conservative media like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

What a turncoat. Thank you, New York Times, for printing this.

  1. You have to wonder why the NYT is weakening a Trump challenger.

    • Because Trump winning makes for more exciting news? And they still believe that Trump can’t possibly beat Hillary?

      • The NY Times is working overtime to discredit Trump. As of 11AM today there 5 anti-Trump articles on its front page website. Everyday they put up at least 3 articles critical of Trump on the top of the site.

Check out the Wash Post – their top 5 trending stories are all rabid anti-Trump rants.

Not that I think they deserve clicks.

      • “Not that I think they deserve clicks.”

Every day I check out Real Clear Politics and I have gotten to the point where I don’t bother to click on most of the stuff they have there. A few contributors are worth reading. Most are worthless. I’ve become wise to the clickbait concept & I think most readers have.

Lion is much more worthwhile reading!!

  2. Also, liberals HATE Rubio. I don’t know why, but they just despise him. I understand hating Trump and Cruz, but Rubio?

There was some SWPL weenies who were interviewed at the IA caucuses who had gone to the Republican caucuses just to caucus against Trump. But when they got there, they just couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Rubio so they voted for Kasich instead.

    • Easy answer for why liberals hate Rubio: he is a minority who dares not be a loyal Democrat.

      • I agree. They somehow feel that Rubio represents a threat to their Hispanic turf, which is odd since he really doesn’t represent any threat at all. How many blacks have Carson and Cain brought into the Republican party? Zero.

  3. This is all over the pro-Trump/anti-amnesty twittersphere & blogosphere. Mostly for the info about “conservative” media. This is great. Anyone whose name appears here as part of the gang is now toast, no cred. I’m hoping that this destroys the fat phony Rush Limbaugh. A Limbaugh-free America will be a nice dividend of all this. He’s a fraud.

I remember Sean Hannity on Fox after the Romney loss clearly saying he had learned the lesson of the election and that now “we had to embrace the new immigrants” etc etc. It’s on tape.

That’s the way Republican airheads think. They really are stupid.

      • I’m proud to say I never even listened to Hannity. Not saying that in an “I told you so” way, just saying. In fact I don’t have cable & never listened to Fox. All frauds. I know show-biz, and they are just show-biz stooges. May they all lose their jobs and rot on some obscure Wi-Fi station.

My personal journey, and I think this may be instructive for the upcoming election, is that I always had a feeling of respectfully disagree but respect Christian conservatism and find common ground, yada yada. I no longer do. Christian conservatism is (a) not my religion and (b) a cultural dead end for this country. It is a masochistic ideology that leaves a country and a culture without inner defenses. Resist not evil, and love thy enemy – no, I don’t agree with that. And the crazy Christian women who are adopting 3rd world “orphans” – don’t get me started.

I don’t either but it was during the election so I watch some Fox News. He used to be on the big WABC New York radio and based his act on the late great Bob Grant, an Italian America manic on the far right who was an entertaining old grouch. Hannity tried to be a younger less threatening version. Limbaugh started his national career at WABC when Grant was there.

Grant used to use the expression “slipping and sliding into “third worldism” about the NAM invasion of NY city from the 80s onward. He was a genuine nationalist conservative who was angry about the immigration issue 30 years ago. He was basically Archie Bunker on radio.

Limbaugh was always a big business, Republican hack. He just wants to eat and use drugs and smoke cigars and play golf. So he makes a fortune playing to a certain market. Those media types are just self serving opportunists. Actors playing political characters.

That’s the “pathological altruism” expression I brought up that you dismissed earlier. The concept seems weird but it’s interesting. It’s like that cat parasite thing that might create Cat Ladies.

      • Limbaugh’s act is to turn political talk into sports talk radio. “Liberals bad, conservatives good”. Then he bangs his desk and and congratulates himself.

    • Limbaugh isn’t the problem. The problem is that Rubio went on the air with Limbaugh and lied to him about the Gang of 8 bill. Limbaugh has been…well not quite red pilled on the issue but he’s hinted he’s aware of that viewpoint, and has been pretty clear post Gang of 8 that he opposes amnesty. You have to figure…would you have expected him, the Monday after the debate in which he accused Bush of lying about WMD, that Limbaugh would provide an excuse for Trump? But that’s exactly what he did. Said he thought it was part of a Trump strategy to get cross over Democrats since South Carolina was an open primary state.

  4. Here is Dick Durbin explaining how Rubio fought to keep H1B reforms (make it harder to outsource H1B jobs) out of the immigration package in 2013.

  6. From the article: “Those discussions of just a few years ago now seem of a distant era, when, after the re-election of President Obama, momentum was building to overhaul the nation’s immigration system.”

There was no ‘momentum’ building to overhaul the nation’s immigration system in any manner that included asylum. What existed was building anger regarding the administration’s refusal to enforce the laws on the books and the failure of the R candidate to capitalize on that anger. The ‘we have to reform it before we can enforce it’ baloney is used time and again by elites when all the public wants is for current laws to be enforced. The Gang of Eight bill, more than any other, really exposed the shell game the R party was playing with their base. Luckily the House Rs didn’t go along.

  7. This system has lost all credibility. The dinosaur Media is about dead. The Old Grey Lady is just a vanity paper for Carlos Slim now. Its a long multipage ad for Carlos Slim’s customer base La Raza. Even old man Rupee from Mole Newz is going all out for Amnesty. Dese nuts are cracked. Everyone is broke. The cities are broke, the states are broke and even old Uncle Sham has maxxed out his credit cards. Have you seen the stores closing down? Its Retail Sharknado! All the Big Boxes are going belly up and being replaced with discount stores and dollar stores. This Economy is Dead, Jim.
