Ben Carson and Trump

From an article at The Hill:

Carson predicted that if Trump shows up with a plurality of delegates at the convention, but the nomination goes to someone else, the despair felt by grassroots conservatives would keep them home on Election Day and “hand over not only the presidency, but perhaps the Senate and the House to the Democrats.”

The article is well worth reading in it’s entirety.

  1. Not sure the GOPe cares. They also probably think the base will “come home” on election day rather than let Hillary win.

  2. Sorry Lion, couldn’t read that article. Carson is just the latest Hannity created black candidate. He’s a ridiculous bore.

If it were Hannity’s world, all GOPe nominees would be every black guy who ever said anything mildly negative about Obama.

  3. “hand over not only the presidency, but perhaps the Senate and the House to the Democrats.”

I called this back in Nov-Dec. The beltway GOPe might be happy enough with Hillary as President, and it’s well known opinion media do better when the other side is in power, but down-ticket rank-and-file Republicans don’t have that same job security. If they double-cross voters in 2016, they are very unlikely to come back in 2018 or 2020.

In fact, the double-dealing of House and Senate Republicans toward the base Republican voter since 2010 is what has propelled Trump in the first place. Trump will have coat-tails like Republicans have not seen since Reagan. It will be telling whether down-ticket Republicans recognize this and stand-up against the Beltway machine, or are they all a bunch of mealy cucks.
