About the Cruz sex scandal

It’s most likely true, but if the MSM doesn’t care about it, then the story sort of just disappears. The MSM has a long track record of killing stories like this. Not always, but they often do. Especially if the story is just straight-up adultery and doesn’t involve something extra salacious like prostitutes or a guy who’s last name is Weiner sending pictures of his weiner to teenage girls on the internet.

If the wife of the accused makes a public stink about it, that usually is a significant catalyst, but I suspect Heidi is like Hillary Clinton who would rather ride on her husband’s coattails than make a public emotional spectacle.

The only hope for this doing in Cruz is for the story gaining so much traction on non-mainstream media that the MSM has to report on it.

  1. We can expect the story to “reappear” immediately if the GOPe maneuvers the nomination to Cruz at the convention.

  2. Salon and the Daily Mail have picked it up.

    March 25, 2016 at 1:08 PM

  3. What evidence is there?

    March 25, 2016 at 1:17 PM

    • I think you’ve already seen all the evidence there is.

      March 25, 2016 at 2:27 PM

      • So nothing?

    • yes, exactly nothing.

    • Right now, no hard evidence really. The story has legs because NE was right about Edwards. That story was floating around for a long time before NE scooped everyone else, so people think this is the same. It’s really not fair, but it is what it is.

Also, this is the way the game is played in DC. It’s simply a fact that favors are traded as a matter of course, among them, sexual favors. It’s probably unfair for Cruz to be singled out, but….if you can’t stand the heat. And so on.

      March 27, 2016 at 12:19 PM

      • You’re right that the John Edwards story was out there for a long time. Mickey Kause was referencing it almost a year before it broke. That was a concerted effort to hide the story.
In this case, I think that the media would prefer Trump over Cruz, because Trump brings ratings, and they may view him as easier prey in a general election (‘may view him’, I’m only guessing).

I would agree with you if he was the front-runner, but the bar is not as high as you claim. Cruz is already way behind in delegates. He can’t afford to even have 10% of his evangelical base get demoralized and stay home. Just enough whispers that people are worried they’ll look like dupes for touting him – that’s all it takes at this point.

    March 25, 2016 at 1:25 PM

  5. Are you kidding? After all that mealy mouthed piety and talk of family values and trump’s baiting him about his wife, the story screams hypocrisy, which the media loves.

Bad enough the affairs with political operatives is the one with the prostitute which kinda makes me go hmm… was he patronizing the same prostitute to service certain ‘needs’ he was unable to get the other women to gratify? Just a thought.

    March 25, 2016 at 1:27 PM

  6. The media will care about a conservative Republican involved in a sex scandal. That’s reporter bait right there. I’m sure every major news agency is digging into this and if there is any truth to it, we’ll know soon.

But off topic, is Cruz hot to women? I realize he’s a powerful man and that’s attractive, but he also seems to give out a creepy vibe. Or am I just following for the hype about him seeming creepy?

    • “…he also seems to give out a creepy vibe. Or am I just following for the hype about him seeming creepy?”

He either has serious gay face, or it’s that when he talks he’s like a composite of several different faces, and people are used to a more seamless visual. Maybe a little of both.

It’s an interesting question, though. Any ladies here who are at least partly on the fence (ie, not decided either way whether or not they like him)?

      March 25, 2016 at 2:44 PM

      • not really. looks are by far the most important thing. there are money/power groupies for sure, but good luck getting hot, prime 18-25 year old girls to care about you at all if you don’t have looks. cruz is very ugly.

        james n.s.w

        March 25, 2016 at 4:42 PM

      • @james n.s.w., these are not 18-25 year old girls. These women are older than that, and they are all minor players in the DC power game. Also they are all rabid trucon believers, and the “conservative movement” is deeply corrupt.

But in your world, it doesn’t happen.

        March 26, 2016 at 9:31 PM

      • YOU don’t have the clue K.I. just lmao at thinking girls don’t care about looks. they might say that they don’t but that’s because they are hyper concerned about not looking shallow. go on tinder some time or any online dating account using two identical profiles except with different photos, an ugly guy and a male model looking guy and see who does better. not only will the MM actually receive responses to his messages (regardless of what he says; he could message girls with stuff like “i have autism” or “i want to throw acid in your face” – legit doesn’t matter, i’ve seen it and tried it myeself) he will receive messages first. by contrast the ugly guy will will recieve no messages at all, initiating or to his own messages no matter how good his nebulous “game” is. this isn’t just an online phenomenon though obviously the importance of looks are magnified online.

seriously get off the game blogs and get out into the real world – those people are deluded or at least trying to sell you books so they’ll tell you everything you want to hear. it may have been truer in whatever day you were around in was but these days due to information technology, ubiquitous photography and smart phones female superficiality has been exacerbated to extreme levels.

    • Cruz does not give off a creepy vibe in person. I talked to him once at an event after he had spoken and was still there talking to people. This was before he was a senator and just the solicitor general. So, it wasn’t that hard to run into him and talk about something. I had some question about some legal point and he explained it and we talked for a while. I am a woman and he definitely did not give off any creepy vibes. More like super competent smart vibes.

    • Women don’t put a priority on looks like men do. Status trumps all. Seriously, even butt ugly serial killers, deformed self help speakers, and schizophrenic artists pull massive amounts of tail. Cruz is constantly on TV, one of the few name recognition senators, drew crowds to hear his speeches and had a good shot at being president. He would be seen as attractive to women in the insular world of Washington.

      March 26, 2016 at 1:35 AM

  7. Unless they have photos of meet-ups or DNA swabbed underwear, there’s not much that a mainstream news outlet can report. In fact, I’m told (I haven’t read it) that the Enquirer article is very carefully worded, saying only that there are “claims” and “allegations” of hanky panky from third parties.

    March 25, 2016 at 1:43 PM

    • So, like, if I were some jerk democrat trying to smear Cruz I could just say I knew something. Would that count as claims and allegations from third parties/ Better yet, my girlfriends and I could say that he came after all of us. That would surely be claims and allegations from anonymous third parties. AKA nothing.

        March 26, 2016 at 2:40 PM

  10. Five different women having affairs with Ted Cruz? Not likely. I hate to admit it, but while Ted isn’t the worst-looking man in the world, neither is he a babe magnet. I can’t see five women saying “gee, I’d love to be banging the Cruz guy!” This may surprise some here. But Cruz wouldn’t do it for me. Not like my dreamboat Gilbert Gottfried! Then again Ted may be a dynamo in the bedroom for all we know.

    March 25, 2016 at 2:02 PM

    • Cruz is definitely weird and creepy looking. But he’s also a senator with connections. And the women worked for him. Plenty of women have put out to get ahead.

      March 25, 2016 at 2:31 PM

    • I agree Ted is no lady killer. BUT, of the three names that have been outed, ALL are political operatives. In other words, manjawed careerist women sleeping their way up the ladder. So we have an “exploitation” angle here too: Ted exploiting these poor, innocent women. The media will love this angle, which they scrupulously ignored during Clinton/Lewinsky.

Seriously, if Trump wasn’t around, this would be screaming Page 1 headlines everywhere.

      March 25, 2016 at 3:07 PM

    • I think it is pretty obvious that Ted is crazy alpha in person. How else did he get a woman as beautiful, intelligent and successful as Heidi? He is also obviously a sociopath, and women love sociopaths.

      Otis the Sweaty

      March 25, 2016 at 3:08 PM

      • He is not crazy alpha in person. He is super competent, calm and thoughtful. Not at all arrogant. Not crazy alpha. He comes off as self possessed and not at all petulant like our current president.

        March 26, 2016 at 4:54 PM

      • I read an article about Cruz a few months ago. The interviewer asked a woman who knew him in college about his dating habits and she said he dated several women on the debate circuit. The interviewer then asked, So he was popular with women? And the woman replied. “No. Being popular with women on the debate circuit isn’t the same as being popular with women.” I think this explains Cruz’s affairs better than assuming he’s “crazy alpha in person”. I mean, have you not since what he’s married to???

        March 27, 2016 at 4:37 PM

    • Women love powerful and famous men. Even if most women aren’t attracted to Cruz , Five is a very small number and easy to believe.

    • Purportedly 3 have been id’d when people found the original photos the Enquirer pixelated:

      Katrina Pierson–Trump’s National Spokesperson
      Sarah Isgur Flores–Carly’s campaign manager
Amanda Carpenter–Congressional staffer and CNN correspondent.

      March 25, 2016 at 3:04 PM

      • Katrina Pierson issued a quasi denial on twitter. Why wouldn’t she just come out and say it if it were true?

        Lloyd Llewellyn

        March 25, 2016 at 5:41 PM

      • There’s no benefit to admitting it. Her admission would be suspect since she’s working for a competing campaign. If she readily admits it then it will look like she’s the one who leaked the story. Also, no one wants their private sexual affairs splattered across the front page. Women in particular are touchy about being seen as “sluts”. Which she would have been attacked for. Rather than the story being about Cruz’s affairs, Cruz supporters would have tried to make the story about her. I saw that happen with a local politician who’s employee admitted the affair. And, finally, while Cruz may have had affairs with other women she might not be one of them. Personally, I think something happened. At the very least, I think he propositioned her.

        March 27, 2016 at 8:41 AM

      • And none of the three are admitting to it.

If the media are going to grab 5 different women who have worked/are working with Cruz and accuse him of having an affair, this just tells me that women shouldn’t be allowed to work for male politicians.

        March 27, 2016 at 3:37 PM

Yeah. Because women just love to admit they had an affair with a married man in a high profile scandal. Aside from the fact they don’t want to derail Cruz’s campaign, who wouldn’t want to be the next Monica Lewinski?

Not really. Nothing compared to what she’s lost.

        March 28, 2016 at 12:11 PM

      • What did she lose? She was an untalented nobody who, because of her celebrity, was able to participate in a “variety of ventures including designing a line of handbags under her name, being an advertising spokesperson for a diet plan, working as a television personality” that would never otherwise have happened.

A Stanford graduate and white house intern with a masters from the London School of Economics should have done much better for herself. With her background and looks she should have easily landed an influential husband and decent career. Instead, she’s a punchline

        March 28, 2016 at 10:19 PM

      • She preferred sleeping with powerful married men instead of seeking relationships with beta-male providers. That’s not Clinton’s fault, and if not Clinton she would surely have done it with some other powerful married man because that’s what she did.

In July 2015 an unusual $500,000 donation was made by Ted Cruz-affiliated Super PAC, Keep the Promise to Carly Fiorina’s official campaign fund. Paying hush money to a political campaign is illegal. It would be hard to prove. But he could have an investigation hanging over his head.

All he had to say was, “I’ve always been faithful.” Which he pointedly did not. A very cagey statement on his part.

      March 25, 2016 at 3:57 PM

    • Yeah, and now he’s given the media the all-clear signal to report stories like this:

“Breitbart News, the notoriously Trump-friendly conservative outlet, was also pitched the story of Cruz’s extramarital affairs, according to a source close to the publication. That source said an operative allied with Marco Rubio—but not associated with his official campaign—showed the publication a compilation video of Cruz and a woman other than his wife coming out of the Capitol Grille restaurant and a hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But the outlet opted not to report on the video, which demonstrated no direct evidence of an affair.”

Fairly or not, the public is going to conclude that where there’s smoke there’s fire.

      March 27, 2016 at 12:21 PM

  16. This may be achieving liftoff velocity despite the major media blackout. And with five women implicated, we only need ONE to step up and publicly admit it. That will instantly validate the other four, whether true or not.

Amanda Carpenter has apparently said “talk to my lawyers,” which is guilty speak. She’s probably huddling right now, trying to figure out the best career move for her: admit and get massive publicity, respect/pity from feminist media, or stonewall. No upside to that. I’m betting one of them admits it sooner rather than later.

A smart woman could even turn this into “that horrible experience with Ted Cruz — who kinda raped me! — showed me the hypocrisy of the Republican party, which is why I became a Democrat and support Hillary!” That’s a career on CNN right there, or at least MSNBC.

    March 25, 2016 at 3:25 PM

      March 25, 2016 at 3:54 PM

If it does become an issue and evangelicals turn against Cruz over it there is something nice about that, in a quaint kind of way. It hurts Cruz because he is positioning himself as a Christian conservative. Trump isn’t affected because his womanizing has been all over the tabloids for decades and because everyone, even most of his Southern Evangelical backers, already know he’s a rich playboy from Manhattan.

      March 25, 2016 at 8:29 PM

  18. Ted Cruz’s response to the NE story is, again, very predictable — blame Trump! If Trump was behind this, why would he pick his own Katrina as one of the alleged mistresses? As far as I know, she is still with the Trump campaign and is one of the most articulate spokespersons for him. Why would he distract and fluster her unnecessarily during this crucial time of the election period? And why risk a lawsuit against himself for libel? That would be utterly stupid and incompetent, which is out of character for him.

His response has been posted on Facebook. It is presidential, as well as believable.

  19. several months ago the cruz campaign paid $500k to the fiorina campaign. at that time fiorina’s deputy campaign manager was one of the women(carpenter?) that cruz is accused of schtupping. the fec is looking into the $500k hush money as theft of campaign cash. that’s a felony, innit?

  25. To speculate about people’s private lives is very low. Putin has been divorced for a few years, obviously he has relationship(s), but the Russian press, with the exception of a few tabloids, doesn’t out him. Putin should just go radioactive on these stupid tabloids – his personal life is nobody’s business, unless it affects his presidential responsibilities.

    March 25, 2016 at 7:06 PM

    • but the Russian press… doesn’t out him

      Because he will murder them.

Also, Russian political culture and American political culture are different. Part of Cruz’s act is being an upstanding family man, which he clearly is not based on his behavior.

  26. 1. Amanda Carpenter is seriously hot. Way to go, Ted.

    2. Events like this bring our focus back to the true enemy: The American Conservative movement. American Conservatism must be destroyed. It is more dangerous than Liberalism.

    Otis the Sweaty

    March 25, 2016 at 7:21 PM

    • It’s dangerous because it exploits American patriotism and nationalism.

A lot of liberalism is the opposite – it’s blatantly contemptuous and dismissive of the feelings and beliefs of many actual Americans. So they are up font about it. You know the enemy because they will spit in your face.

Many conservatives are so devious and sinister – they zero in on the cliches and images and use them for a sinister agenda.

      March 26, 2016 at 2:51 AM

      • This election has shown that the establishment and the TruCons are two wings of the same bird. The establishment gives the TruCons muh social issues and tax cuts and in return the TruCons give them votes.

They’re relationship is symbiotic, not adversarial. I did not realize that, I expected that the TruCons would support Trump because they hate open borders, not realizing just how toxic the Conservative ideology is.

        Death to Conservatism!

    • “Amanda Carpenter is seriously hot. Way to go, Ted.”

There are a couple of photos from years ago that look hot. But when you get a recent close-up and check out her features she’s not that great. Still too good for creepy Cruz though.

  27. It’s most likely true, but if the MSM doesn’t care about it, then the story sort of just disappears.

Trump can and will bring sex scandals to the fore by himself. It’s been quite some time since Hillary has linked Trump to the ‘war on women’, hasn’t it?

If the wife of the accused makes a public stink about it, that usually is a significant catalyst, but I suspect Heidi is like Hillary Clinton who would rather ride on her husband’s coattails than make a public emotional spectacle.

Do you suppose Trump knew the Enquirer story was coming? That would explain why Trump goaded Cruz into a strange fight this week over Cruz’s wife.

    • wait, I thought it started with the Melania pic.

Trump might have gotten word the Melania pic was coming and would have been ready to provoke him when the candidate’s wives became a topic.

On the other hand, like everything Trump does, it’s hard to tell how much of this is planned and how much is Trump acting purely on instinct.

However, it would be quite an unusually lucky coincidence if Trump escalated the fight without knowing the Enquirer story was about to break that same week.

      • Of him repeatedly entering or leaving a certain DC hotel on repeated Tuesdays and Thursdays with a woman not his wife. Same with a DC restaurant.

        March 26, 2016 at 10:27 AM

    • If there is video, then the video will come out. And receipts will come out. And hotel workers will talk.

  29. Doesn’t the weird “saiposexual” line he allegedly used on two of the girls provide the “extra” element required for mainstream coverage? Even if they don’t want to help Trump, I don’t think they will be able to help themselves when it comes to mocking that.

  30. Wheels within wheels here. First, this story helps Cruz which is why the leftist media like it (makes it harder for a single Republican to win). National Enquirer hires lawyers who are very very smart (smarter than all the current Supreme Court Justices – Alito and Thomas excepted). What happened is this, imho. Cruz, who does not (measured in comparison to the average politician) easily emotionally bond with many people, does emotionally bond with several dozen of the people in his circles who he feels are his intellectual equivalents (his main flaw, from a distance, does appear to be a not remotely fully justified intellectual arrogance – fostered by our weird system of sending semi-autistic youth through a “merit-based” LSAT/top law school system without screening the poor young folks for wisdom and common sense – but I digress). Anyway, it is likely that at least five of those dozens of people are hot women. To the gossipy envious dirty-minded calumniating unfriendly people on the fringes of Ted Cruz’s world, that means he has had “affairs” – in their non-God-fearing untrusting uncompassionate minds, adulterous affairs, or at best inappropriate romantic-feeling semi-unfaithful-to-the-spouse connections – with the 5 hotties out of the limited several dozen people he has connected with (at his self-assessed intellectual level). That is all the National Enquirer said, in addition to salaciously and nastily printing pictures of 5 women that 99 out of 100 people who buy that rag feel jealousy or envy for (Book of Proverbs explains this). If in fact, as I believe to be true, there was no adultery involved, the National Enquirer has done something very evil. Legally defensible in a court of law where the issue is libel, but nevertheless not something any decent person would want to do (they probably excuse themselves saying this is good for Cruz – makes him look more like a normal man than he has looked to the populace heretofore – but they should not excuse themselves. They did something hurtful and wrong. Cruz has a wife and children, and he too is a man, and his feelings can be hurt by vicious words). The National Enquirer lawyers who signed off on this should probably resign, out of self-respect, if the rumors are exaggerated even just by a little. In conclusion, Lion, you and your commenters are mostly too good to join in, on the basis of the very little evidence that has been shown, with the unkind rabble of the leftist media, I hope.

      Unapologetic White Man

      March 26, 2016 at 2:14 AM

      • The TNE is what it is, as is the Book of Proverbs. The TNE helped Hillary with this. The Book of Proverbs explains why that is wrong. I am not a better writer than Solomon, so I will leave it there.

I still don’t get why this matters, even if true. I thought the Clinton precedent proved a president’s sex life has nothing to do with his performance.

  36. Wait, what’s that sound? Its the sound of millions of Evangelicals closing their wallets and throwing away their Cruz sign! Outside of Evangelicals Cruz has the kind of support black candidates have in White Southern Towns. I doubt he’ll quit, but expect a sudden rash of unexpected losses in states he was supposed to win. Too bad Teddy, but you gotta stay away from hookers and whores to get Evangelicals to follow you. Ask Jimmy Swaggert, he’s in obscurity where you’re headed.
