There isn’t really a Ted Cruz sex scandal, at least not yet

The National Enquirer reported not that he had sex, but that operatives and PIs from other campaigns are looking into rumors that he had sex.

On the other hand, people think the Amanda Carpenter rumor likely has a strong basis in fact.

  1. It’s now called The Cuban Mistress Crisis! LOL.

It’s probably not true. I suspect it’s Roger Stone doing what he does best.

  2. A full-blown sex scandal would finish Cruz. But it doesn’t have to go that far to tarnish his halo and give Trump the edge he needs. The margin is razor thin. So even a little will mean a lot. While there may not be pictures of him in the act (THANK GOD!) there’s some pretty strong circumstantial evidence. Apparently, there’s a record of him and one of the women going to a hotel every Tuesday and Thursday.

  3. Media blackout

They have matching tattoos on the same day; the wash off tattoo in question come in packs of 2 and hers was in a location where she could not have put it on herself; she is wearing his jacket in her selfie showing off her tattoo

Obvious from her social media and the way she acts when talking about him on camera that she is in love with him/under his spell

Her body language when confronted on air and her “talk to my lawyer” were the reactions of someone who was caught

WaPo or WaTimes or whatever paper it was firing the reporter for confirming the rumors and then caught lying in claiming that he was never actually a reporter

This is no longer speculation. It is obviously true, end of discussion. But why the massive media conspiracy to protect Cruz?

Honestly, what does this have to do with anything, beyond shallow character assassination?

Trump has cheated on his wives before.

None of this has any bearing on how a good president any of these men would be.

  5. I wanna see the video then I want to hear his explanation. Could be innocent. He must know the video story is out there. Perhaps he thinks it won’t surface.

  6. Amanda Carpenter was maliciously compiling a blacklist (her word) of Trump supporters to be driven out of politics after the GOPe retakes the Republican Party, so there are a lot of people who want to believe the worst about her.

    March 26, 2016 at 10:47 am

  7. I think it’s just a smear job. This story feels reminiscent of an ill-conceived lefty hatchet job against John McCain in 2008.

  8. We may have confirmation of the Amanda Carpenter /Ted Cruz affair from a relative of Amanda’s. (no name given for the sister-in-law though, so this might be sketchy).
    L’affaire of Ted Cruz
    “A lover’s sister-in-law speaks out.
This week the National Enquirer (which first reported the affair of failed Democrat party member John Edwards) broke a story that alleges Ted Cruz had multiple affairs with various women, while his wife Heidi Cruz was battling depression. The Cruz campaign has yet to respond to the allegations, but a short phone call with the sister in-law of one of the women, after I found her online through use of the White Pages, appears to confirm the allegations.
The woman, whose brother is married to the alleged paramour — who appears on CNN as contributor, said, “It’s true. They were together only a few times.” She added her sister-in-law, “was transfixed by Ted. He has a way of selling ice to an Eskimo.” I asked when the affairs occurred. “Right before Ted’s campaign for Senate,” she said. “They’d get together when Cruz visited DC.” She added, “The whole family knows, everybody knows about this.” Cruz’s lover is married and has children.”

    • So, a stranger looks up Amanda Carpenter’s brother’s home, calls up, talks to the wife, and this lady just admits everything?

  9. On the other hand, people think the Amanda Carpenter rumor likely has a strong basis in fact.

The story will continue because there’s lots of circumstantial evidence to support it. Like the odd coincidence of Carpenter being a big booster of Cruz in the media but not having a formal relationship with the campaign, suggesting Mrs. Cruz wants Carpenter to keep her distance from her husband.

And if he had an affair with Carpenter he’s probably had affairs with other women. The Rubio campaign shopped videos of Cruz leaving the same restaurant with a woman every Tuesday and Thursday. The media didn’t bite because that by itself didn’t prove they were having sex, but it is awfully suspicious for him to being meeting just woman at the same place for weeks if they weren’t sleeping together.

  10. Another reason why Rubio didn’t pull the trigger on the Cruz sex scandal is because Cruz must have had opposition research into Rubio’s bisexualism.

  11. In any event this scandal explains why the establishment had been openly advertising Ryan would be imposed as the nominee at a brokered convention while at they simultaneously snuggled the Bushes and Romneys up with Cruz: They had the Bushes communicate that the establishment would nominate Cruz at a brokered convention, but in reality they wanted to keep Cruz viable in the race just long enough to deny Trump a majority. Then at the convention they would sandbag Cruz with his affairs, and then use that scandal as justification to deny both Trump and Cruz the nomination in favor of Ryan.

But Trump dropped the nuke that the establishment was waiting to drop on Cruz much earlier than they wanted. If this is indeed a knockout punch to the Cruz campaign, Trump only needs to figure out how to get Kasich out of the race (Post Office General Kasich? American Ambassador to Italy?) for Trump to essentially run unopposed for the remainder of the race.

  12. If Carpenter is so great a fan of Cruz’s and had worked with him before then why isn’t she still working directly on the campaign? Obviously because Cruz’s wife forced her out.

  13. A reminder of things past. When the BP spill was going on, Obama assembled a team of experts to consult on the problem, however one of the experts (Johnathan Katz) was found to have politically incorrect views. Now years later, that same politically incorrect expert has been identified as having high ratings by his peers (physicists). It goes to show you that liberals are not honest when they say they want people to be judged solely by their abilities. I thought I would post this so that it is not lost down the memory hole.

Here is a link to the story:

    March 26, 2016 at 5:13 pm

    • I remember that. Katz was a full prof by the time he was 25. No one gets to be a fully tenured prof at age 25 w/o being exceptional.

      • Professor Katz was slandered and calumniated. I remember. For him, it must have seemed like pure dystopia. Slander and calumny are not good things.

Son of homophobic father says life gets better

Amazing. Katz is a brilliant guy yet he is reduced to “homophobe” as if that is even a thing.

Son turns out to be gay.

Here’s the article that got him in trouble:

“In Defense of Homophobia” by Jonathan I. Katz

Probably worth a separate post on gay power in America. Notice Trump has avoided the issue despite his “New York Values”.

Even those who Hitlerize Trump are not accusing him of homophobia, one of their cardinal sins. Or is it venal sins?

      • “I’m just waiting for the SJW’s to take on the hard sciences & destroy them.”

It’s tough to politicize physics and chemistry, but the left has successfully undermined scientific inquiry involving biology and human behavior since the late 1960s. Race, race and IQ, sociobiology, and gender differences are just some of the areas of research that have been declared off limits by the left.

In addition, left-wing propagandists pushed the anti-nuke movements in the 1970s and ’80s and now global warming.

    • Good stuff. Regardless of whether Carpenter slept with him or not she instantly reminded me of what I hate about young political reflected glory types like Carpenter. Notice the obvious effort to remind people how connected she is by tweeting a photo of herself with a Churchill tattoo just like the Senator (hello everybody I’m connected and important!!). Notice the Big Talk signaling of the blacklist, the whole premise of which being that she and her friends are important enough to assemble a list that would be used by those capable of exercising power.

I’ve been in and around this world for years and this reflected glory stuff always comes from the crowd that got their start working for typically long-time incumbents. Never from people who had the talent to get people elected in the first place (the real talents). They always assume they are authorities because of their associations.

I haven’t seen anyone on this site weigh in on the weird Carly Fiorina superpac angle.

      March 27, 2016 at 4:21 pm

  17. Frankly, I think that the Cruz campaign is largely responsible for releasing this information. There is a kernel of truth…that an affair occurred, but that affair is only with one of these people. The Cruz campaign has added the Pierson and Amanda Carpenter names and possibly others to “poison pill” the story with an outlandish claim for the purpose of blunting the kernel of truth.

After all, Heidi Cruz did have a nervous breakdown back in 2005. It was probably over an affair.

Furthermore, does one really think Amanda Carpenter would ruin her career by being associated with something like this? I doubt it. Sleeping your way to the top is only effective if said “sleeping” is a rumor and not a confirmed fact.

The whole thing seems outlandish. The Rubio campaign was somehow shopping this. Then Breitbart refused to run in. Now Anonymous is claiming credit.

    March 26, 2016 at 11:21 pm

    • “does one really think Amanda Carpenter would ruin her career by being associated with something like this?”

Is there any reason to assume she’d have any kind of career without doing things like this or being a flirt or political social butterfly at least? I read her bio, nothing jumped out at me that said ‘talent.’

      March 27, 2016 at 1:37 am

      • A lot of people have sex because it feels good and not because they think it will be good or bad for her career.

Although, in general, a woman having sex with a powerful man in her field usually helps the woman’s career.

        March 27, 2016 at 9:38 am

    • Look at Carpenter’s body language and facial expressions when she is talking about Cruz: she is in love with him. This is Roissy 101 and yet some people still don’t see it.

The tattoo on her back she could not possibly have applied to herself. Who applied it? Why has she since deleted the pic from her twitter?

I don’t blame Carpenter: she is a ditzy woman ruled by her emotions like 99% of all women. But what about Cruz? Arrogant SOB to think he could get away with this shit.

      Otis the Sweaty

      March 27, 2016 at 10:27 am

    • It’s not a completely outlandish hypothesis. Two married Tea Partiers elected to the Michigan statehouse carried on an affair. The man, fearing he was going to get busted, urged a top-staffer to send out an anonymous e-mail to Republican activists claiming the legislator used illegal drugs and paid men to have sex with him. The staffer was perplexed because this politician did not even drink alcohol, but it was all an elaborate ploy to “inoculate the herd.” Since no one would believe a gay prostitution story, he could say that later allegations of an affair with a married female representative were also absurd and that shadowy forces were out to get him.

Precedence aside, I do not think lyin’ Ted Cruz’s people planted the story. Early reports indicate Rubio’s people had been shopping it around.

      March 27, 2016 at 1:08 pm

  18. As Steve Sailer always says, look for dogs that don’t bark.

Cruz could have said 7 obvious words, simple, direct – “I have always been a faithful husband.” (possibly adding, “unlike the other guy – projection, anyone?”) That’s the way any normal person would debunk a lie. Yet Cruz tied himself in lawyerly knots to NOT say it.

    March 27, 2016 at 9:38 am

    • Scott Adams would say that saying words like that provides no advantage to Cruz whatsoever. All anyone will remember is Cruz talking about being unfaithful.

What stays in your mind is not the denial — it’s the subject matter.

It’s better to speak abstractly and not provide sensationalistic quotes to your enemies.

      March 27, 2016 at 10:45 am

    • I don’t follow your line of logic at all. In his statement Cruz said, “These smears are completely false.” Sounds direct to me. Normal people hopefully realize that innocent persons will answer a charge in many different ways, depending on their personality; in fact, an innocent person might not even be normal. Your reasoning seems to rely on Cruz’s honesty by having him couch his words to avoid lying, but if there is any substance to the Enquirer’s article then Cruz had already lied by saying it was “completely false”.

He may not be a looker or in any way traditionally masculine, but I bet he can sweet talk women quite well. The only thing I would say is that apparently he was pretty crap with girls in Harvard.

What really pulls it over the top is multiple mistresses. One mistresses allegation, don’t know. Multiple? Definitely a player. Cruz has to worry now that a hooker doesn’t come forward or some other person of ill-repute.

  23. I just don’t see where this is a big deal. According to the bible, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. The problem with King Solomon’s wives was many were foreign women who worshiped other gods and they led King Solomon astray. It was not the fact that he had 700 wives or 300 concubines.

Many US presidents had mistresses. Until recently the press just ignored this. It was not news. It was human nature and a private matter. When they went after Bill Clinton, that sort of changed the rules. We would be better off leaving this a private matter.

    March 27, 2016 at 4:47 pm

    • You’re being deliberately obtuse. Anyone following the primary season even a little knows that the GOPe generally and Cruz specifically has tried to discredit Trump over his liberalism and New York values. Cruz has sought to identify himself with traditional Christian values and on that basis make himself the only true choice for conservatives.

If any part of this story is true, it is YUUUGE. It undermines completely Cruz’s whole rationale for his candidacy. It would force all the Christian conservatives/Mormons et al who’ve voted for Cruz specifically to block Trump because Trump is a fake and Cruz is the real thing instead. Imagine all the soul searching these Christians will have to do if it’s revealed that they’ve passionately supported a total fraud because they were so sure in their judgement both Cruz and Trump.
