Trump’s greatest speech

(Skip ahead to 16:03 for the beginning of the speech.)

From an oratory perspective, closer to his worst speech. Trump was not good at reading from a teleprompter. He did a better job at the AIPAC speech. Trump has been wise to avoid teleprompters and adlib, but today he needed a prepared speech, and content-wise, it was a home-run speech.

It was a speech that no other Republican politician would have given, certainly not Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush. Those morons at National Review said that Trump is not a “real conservative,” but I guess their definition of a “conservative” is someone very slightly less liberal than Obama or Hillary Clinton except they are also pro-life and in favor of tax cuts for the top 1%.

Trump cited some facts about Islam that were talking points taken from right-wing blogs and websites that no other Republican politician would have dared say.

Trump emphasized that our immigration policy must be for the benefit of America.

He even said that the reason why wages haven’t increased during the last two decades is because of too much immigration. That wasn’t the emphasis of the speech, which was mostly about immigration as it relates to security. But I think it’s really important that he put that in there and connected immigration to unemployment and stagnant wages.

He loves the “LGBT community.” Their freedom to do whatever they want sexually is a core part of our American values. Who would have expected that from the Republican nominee for president? Will he be able to peel off the LGBT vote from Hillary?

He attacked political correctness.

He wants to hold the American Muslim community more accountable for the terrorists that occasionally spring forth. I agree 100%. Only if we hold them accountable will they change their behavior.

And of course, he attacked Hillary and Obama for allowing so much immigration from Islamic countries and for trying to increase it.

Trump has truly changed the entire language of the debate. That’s why I write about him so much. I just can’t help it. Trump’s candidacy is the biggest thing politically to happen to American since FDR. It doesn’t matter if Trump, himself, is a bozo who operated a rip-off real-estate scam “university.” Trump beating Hillary and becoming president is the only hope for America.

  1. I read the speech so i didn’t see the sometimes awkwardness he shows when reading. It was also faster reading it.

It was a very good speech. Nobody else would have said the things he said about immigration.

I actually was at the Politico sight reading the article about the speech that was negative.

The comments section are so wacko at that site it is unbelievable. Trump wants to halt Muslim immigration for a time and these people act like it is the worst thing to ever happen in this country.

I would stop all immigration for the time being.

  2. This speech was a disaster. Trump may have been able to give this speech in a few weeks, but he could not wait. He had to politicize the attack while people are still trying to comprehend what happened and grieving for the dead. This speech was unseemly.

Remember in 2012 Romney could not wait to try to politicize the Benghazi attack. He put out a factually inaccurate press release attaching Obama before it was known that the US Ambassador and other Americans had been killed in the attack. After the deaths were announced, Romney’s press release looked cheap and undignified

To cover for Romney mistake, Republicans in Congress spawned wild conspiracy theories and endless investigations of Benghazi which have produced nothing.

“Trump, himself, is a bozo who operated a rip-off real-estate scam “university.” Trump beating Hillary and becoming president is the only hope for America.”

If you think electing a “bozo” president is the only hope for America, then I think you need to think again.

    • The fact that our ambassador was killed makes the issue even more political, not less. It is shameful that our ambassador was killed and then Clinton, his boss, told the public it was because of a Youtube video.

    • ……. This speech was unseemly.

…….Romney’s press release looked cheap and undignified

Screw your dignified, screw your seemliness, screw your gravitas. Gravitas and gentlman got us Dole, Bush Sr. Romney, etc….We want a President who has a fire in his belly and is not constantly guided by handlers telling him what the NY Times and Washington Post want to here. Trump is giving it them hard: Islamic immigration, mass immigration, jobs taken by immigrants, off-shoring, stagnant declinging wages. I’ll bet you supported Lindsay Graham. Screw off. Trump 2016.

      • Exactly!

        June 14, 2016 at 12:52 pm

      • I think the speech was great. I didn’t watch much of it but it seems that his hyper Noo Yawk accent was a little modified. As for politicizing a tragedy, FOAD.

        June 14, 2016 at 6:00 pm

    • It’s brilliant. Being politically incorrect after such an event is less shocking. He can lock other Republicans into agreement with him.

      June 14, 2016 at 2:05 am

      • “He can lock other Republicans into agreement with him.”

According to Politico House Republicans are rejecting Trumps call for a ban on Muslim immigrants. The Republican chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee warned that trumps speech could help ISIS recruiting efforts.

Trump and the Republicans in Congress seem to strongly disagree about the Muslim immigration ban.

    • There are plenty of rip-off “universities” but no one gets mad at them.

  3. Trump’s going to win this bitch. God bless him.

    June 13, 2016 at 10:51 pm

  4. The Left’s hysteria means it will be a hit with the general public.

Think of it this way: How many white, Obama voters do you know in real life? Probably dozens at least. Now how many open borders, DKos type zealots do you know in real life? Probably zero.

Trump was on the defensive last week. He fell a further 4 points behind Hillary. But all that Trump U and Mexican judge stuff though is history now. Now instead we are talking about PC and Muslim bans. Even CuckState has dramatically reduced their Trump bashing.

It’s going to take time, but the party is ultimately going to rally around Trump. Whether or not he wins the election though depends on whether the stock market crashes and there are more attacks.

    Greasy William

    June 13, 2016 at 10:58 pm

    • The stock market won’t crash because the Fed and bankers will do everything possible to keep the economy pumped up until after the election.

  5. Hatred of Muslims is very prole.

I’ve noticed all the Islamophobic literature written by “scholars”, come from colleges/universities like Rick Santorum with his JD, from Dickinson Law, essentially, lower tier schools.

    June 13, 2016 at 11:26 pm

    • Maybe that is because the religion faculties of top tier schools (and many lower tier schools) are stuffed with leftist fools.

      June 14, 2016 at 1:13 am

    • The only part of conservatism that’s acceptable in elite schools is laisez fair and trickle down economics. So it’s not like antiislam sentiment is the only view that can’t be found in those places. One counterexample is Niall Ferguson who teaches history at Harvard and in a relationship with anti islam activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

I do agree that people tend to way overestimate the importance of terrorism. Although that may not be the case if you take into account all the secondary costs of terrorism such as increased law enforcement.

      June 14, 2016 at 1:18 am

      • Not really, Islamic haters cherry pick events to serve their agenda. Academics working in low tier schools, are so desperate for attention (because Ivy League Intellectuals steal all the thunder), that they’ll bend over to get a prole audience.

Yes, the Islamic Golden Age isn’t really golden, if you compared it to Modern Civilization.

And how golden and glorious was the Italian Renaissance? Machiavelli thought the Italian Renaissance was anything, but a renaissance.

        June 14, 2016 at 2:33 pm

      • It turns out that Niall Ferguson is an Anglo-Prole-Sphere sympathizer.

        June 14, 2016 at 3:23 pm

    • That’s fine, because we are going to elect a prole President who will at least look out for some of the interests of the proles.

      June 14, 2016 at 1:37 am

    • Caring about what a bunch of traitors think is prole is prole.

    • Trying to use snobbery to deflect the argument is pathetic. It’s seriously off base. Political correctness has invested the elite universities during the past few decades, destroying their ability to comment intelligently on wide areas of social and international affairs. Intelligent people know what’s going on, but fear for their own careers keeps many silent. To understand really more accurately, one is better off reading the words of great leaders and intellectuals from the 1950s and earlier – writers whose words have been deliberately forgotten, “memory-holed”, to borrow Orwell’s phrase, and are no longer taught, because they contradict the stupid fantasies of the self-deluding ex-hippies who now run most of academia. Churchill, for example, knew exactly what was going on with Islam, and minced no words about it.

      June 14, 2016 at 5:00 am

      • Political correctness is destroying Western civilization because it prohibits a rational discussion of dozens of topics that are vital to the survival of the West. The left initiated these prohibitions but now the mainstream right believes in much of this foolishness as well. And when the respectable right doesn’t agree with certain pc strictures they’ve proven themselves to be utterly incapable of countering them effectively.

        Lewis Medlock

        June 14, 2016 at 11:34 am

    • Bullshit. The scholarship refuting the myth of the Islamic golden age was done at Harvard.

      June 14, 2016 at 11:23 am

      • Show me some links with this so called Harvard’s Anti-Islam!

        June 14, 2016 at 2:29 pm

    • That’s because “common sense” is prole.

Anyone who thinks that massive Third World immigration is good for average Americans
      is out of their minds.

“Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them.”

      June 14, 2016 at 11:28 am

      • That’s correct, so why does the average American with ambition, move to NYC – the greatest city in the world?

It’s menial labor is done by 99.99999% of third world immigrants. Without them, things would be more expensive.

I want to see all the hypocrites who reside in NYC and are reading this blog to agree!!!

I’m trying permanently to remove myself from this cesspool, they call Manhattan.

        June 14, 2016 at 2:40 pm

  6. That is a really great speech. I wish we had someone like this in Canada to vote for. Trudope junior is as dumb as a box of rocks. He was elected because of his name and because he has nice hair.

    June 14, 2016 at 1:09 am

  7. Why can’t he just read the fucking speech and sound presidential. Why does he have to insert little improv asides that completely conflict with the tone of the rest of the speech?

    June 14, 2016 at 1:20 am

  8. It’s also worth noting that before this attack Trump was walking back his support of a Muslim ban and talking about how it was only a suggestion

    June 14, 2016 at 1:26 am

  9. Quite simply his greatest ever speech. His rage was coming through midway when he started spluttering.

You won’t see the power of it unless you see it and not read it.

If he told that cautionary nursery ryhme about the girl and the snake midway, jesus, I think he would have won the election right there.

As it was, I was standing up listening to it.

That snake nursery ryhme is KO potential. Nothing is as memorable as it:

  10. The difference that people can see is Trump cares about America. The others live in their globalist fantasy world, where everyone but them is a wage slave who has no life or land or culture, but is just a “consumer”, a crass materialist collecting things seen in a million ads to fill an empty life without love or family or a real life. Our “mainstream media” is garbage, toxic waste really. They tell you up is down, right is wrong, do what you will, and now buy this crap you don’t need. Its not a Real World, its all fake, full of Kardashians and assorted freaks, drug addicts and attention whores, phonies and narcissists, showing their genitals and then pretending to be better than the hoi polloi. Gross, foul, degenerate. Get A Life. What the fuck do you care about these freaks with big butts and drug problems? GET A LIFE!

    Joshua Sinistar

    June 14, 2016 at 9:56 am

    • The Kardashians are the ultimate Republicans. Yes, REPUBLICANS.

They’re seemingly liberal with their debauched interracial affairs and sex changes. But they’re pure GOPe because they’re all about the upper class tax breaks. It’s all amoral business; pure consumer materialism and economics.

The Republican party believes in Saint MLK and his “content of character” shtick more fervently (and pathetically) that the Dems who know what’s up. The Republican party is totally pro-feminist and women as wage slaves and HR bitches. The more I look at the ghastly Kardassians, the more I see the soulless, materialistic, cuckolded GOPe.

  11. Trump needs to start giving prepared speeches from the promoter.

He’s very good at the impromptu rallies, but his style turns a substantial portion of the electorate off (people who agree with him on issues). Identity trumps issues for most people and Clinton is a disaster who is trying to hide from the public (no press conferences in 6 months).

He’s won all of the votes he will win from his rallies. He can win the rest of the sympathetic votes by speaking from the prompter. He does come across as more presidential from the prompter, less prone to gaffes, even if he’ll never be the TV newsreader that Obama and Romney were.

    June 14, 2016 at 10:52 am

    • but his style turns a substantial portion of the electorate off (people who agree with him on issues).

This is correct and you’re right that Trump would do well to give more prepared speeches and work on his teleprompter delivery which needs work.

But having said that, the people who are turned off by Trump’s style really need to get over themselves.

  12. I watched the speech earlier. I’ll comment on something he said in the past about going after terrorists’ family members. It makes perfect sense. Suicidal terrorists don’t care about their lives but they do care about their family members, especially male relatives.

  13. It’s always useful to recall Churchill’s view on this issue:

“How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries!
Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog,
there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.
The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.

Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled,
the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”

  14. I’m not so sure that Trump will win – the worse it gets, the better it gets for the POTB. But anyway, I think Rod Dreher is right about this. The real losers are believing Christians (hear me, MaryK?). Dreher is a blabbermouth but he gets it right sometimes.

His point is that the liberal narrative is so pervasive and entrenched, Muslims will get a pass. Gays have now entered Official Martyr Territory. (The Gay Pride celebs at the end of the months, which I fervently hope are peaceful, will be tumultuous.) Who benefits – Gays. Who loses. Dreher:

“I predict, because it is a genuine and appalling atrocity that will lead to the demonization, in law and in custom, of orthodox Christians and any who disagree with whatever LGBTs and their allies want.”

I think he’s right. Read the whole thing.
