Erwin Chemerinsky’s dire prediction

LA Times op-ed:

if Hillary Clinton is elected president in November, a liberal majority may dominate the court for decades to come.

That’s Erwin Chemerinsky, the famed law professor and Barbri lecturer.

And #NeverTrump so-called “conservatives” like Mitt Romney are helping this to happen.

  1. Heard of Chemerinsky but never with the reference to being a barbri lecturer. I never thought of barbri lecturer status as even being resume worthy. Is there status associated with being a barbri lecturer these days?

    • Not among other law professors, but it’s how most lawyers in the United States know him. He’s good at it. I think he enjoys doing it.

  2. National Review is still churning out a steady stream of anti-Trump articles. Latest from Kevin Williamson:

    More from others:

    • I’ve been reading NR for about 35 years now. I had no idea just how out of touch they are over there. Their world view is delusional. They think the issues people care about are gay marriage, Little Sisters of the Poor’s health insurance plan, and the import-export bank. Then of course the nonstop anti Trump push that’s greater than any attack I’ve seen on a Democrat. Conrad Black is about the only sane voice left over there now.

      • Yes I’ve been a long time reader of NR as well, and I feel now that our agenda’s may never have matched up, and I was just too blind to see it. They are perfectly fine with their version of conservatism being as influential in the real world as Libertarianism. As long as they have big donor’s paying their salaries, everything is OK.

  3. Wait, you’re telling me that presidents get to appoint judges, who make laws for decades to come? First I’ve heard of it.

    • Is this a sarcastic way of saying the Chemerinsky has predicted the obvious? Yes, it should be obvious, but apparently not to some anti-Trump conservatives who are trying to torpedo his chances of winning the election.

  4. In spite of the fact he is a yuge liberal, Chemerinsky is one of the good ones. His Federal Jurisdiction treatise is an unparalelled work of excellence.

  5. Conservatives and the GOPe are *ONLY* about big business and globalism. Everything about them makes sense when this is understood.

The GOPe is a Left wing party, just not *quite* as radically Left as the Dems generally speaking.

    • What term would you use, if not “conservative,” to describe those who are pro-America, pro-Western Civilization, and oppose the war being waged by the Left on the values, behaviors and institutions which made the West and America great?

      July 3, 2016 at 5:30 PM

      • “Nationalist.” “Traditionalist.” “Dominionist.” Those are just off the top of my head. “Conservatism” is history’s losing strategy because, inter alia, man is attracted to a message that stands *for* something rather than merely *against* something.

  7. A liberal Supreme Court may work to our advantage. Having a Supreme Court that can effectively write laws is unsustainable. When the Supreme Court decides that rules that everybody in Mexico is entitled to automatic US citizenship, it will cause a Constitutional crisis which is exactly what we want.

Why are you trying to shame the #NeverTrump retards? You don’t seem to understand that the TruCons do not care about the Supreme Court or policy for that matter. They care about “muh conservatism”. And likewise the Cucks only care about “muh cuckness”. Exactly what does Trump give the TruCons and the Cucks? Nothing. Nothing at all.

He gives the GOPe something and that is why they are willing to work with him, but he has nothing to offer the TruCons or Cucks so there really is no reason for them to vote for him.

Greasy/sweaty do I have to post this continuously for you?………….

Four Hillary appointed SC justices is NOT a good thing EVER.

      • I want civil war. A liberal Supreme Court brings it faster. It’s a win win for us.

I’m not sure how you can actually think things would get so crazy that FINALLY people will wake up. We passed that point long ago. There is no effective societal opposition to the left. What institution opposes it? Academia, news media, the churches, entertainment media? Your example isn’t as silly as you’ve might have intended. I can easily see a crazy court decision like that, granting citizenship to the people of every country that the US has invaded, bombed, stated a coup, ect…That is already an argument on the left to legitimize every refugee from Syria to Guatemala to come here. Granting citizenship to the world? We’re almost there.

And then it’s too late for any crisis to make any difference.

  8. I fear this is correct. If Hillary gets in, there may never be another Republican president. A liberal Supreme Court majority will pretty much rubber stamp her decisions, allowing her to rule by decree. The Democrats may take control of the Senate later this year, but even a Republican House majority won’t be able to do much about it. Congress will fade into insignificance and become just a cheering section for the Executive. All of the liberal crap that Obama is trying to enact now, such as gun restrictions, carbon taxes and alien amnesty will be approved. The IRS and federal law enforcement will be further politicized, targeting conservative groups, and nobody will be able to do anything about it. Millions of immigrants will get to vote, and you know who they’ll support. Billionaire supporters of the new regime will be rewarded with tax breaks, subsidies, free trade pacts and hordes of cheap foreign laborers. This process is already underway, and it may be too late to stop it. But if we are going to stop it, or at least slow it down, it’s now or never. Republicans who think their party has any future at all after a Clinton victory are delusional.

  10. As he said, the court has been conservative for forty five years. Well, Democratic candidates got more votes in five of the last six elections, and looks like they’ll win the next one. Ginsberg should have retired two years ago. If the court is refashioned along liberal lines, I wonder if Kennedy will retire sine he juust LOVES being the swing-vote/king-maker.

  11. The United States will collapse in 2024.

    Prepare accordingly.

    • Why 2020 something?

Self actualization is better achieved elsewhere, outside of Meriprolestan and the Anglo Prole Sphere. Leave accordingly!

  12. I thought #nevertrump would fizzle out after he won the nomination, but these people appear to be serious about not electing Trump.
They attack him with a ferocity they’ve never used against Obama, Clinton, or ISIS.
I’m really worried Trump will lose because of these people.
