Terrorist attack in France, 84+ dead

Developing story

* * *

I think Donald Trump’s Muslim immigration ban makes more sense than ever.

* * *

Although we still don’t know if the truck driver was Muslim, the fact that this attack took place on France’s most important national holiday makes it very likely it was Islamic terrorism.

* * *

Terrorist from Tunisia, definitely Muslim.

  1. Unless Marine Le Pen somehow manages to become president (which I doubt), France is doomed. The French might as well follow Houellebecq’s advice and convert to Islam if Le Pen loses, it would at least put an end to the PC climate and allow them to crack down on the “radicals” in the same way El Sisi does in Egypt, the Moroccan and Jordanian kings do in their countries, etc.

    • As an aside, the Queen of Jordan may be the best looking queen in the world.

    • I have no clue why the French wouldn’t vote for Le Pen. except maybe the other parties promise goodies and many French people don’t really care about the future of France. They are just thinking in the present. I am starting to not care about the future of America at this point. The US I grew up in is dead.

    • I can’t imagine a scenario in which Le Pen becomes president. Jihadi atrocity after jihadi atrocity and the FN sees slight bumps in popularity but they’d really need to get (and maintain) about +20% to have a chance of victory – and even then they’d still face the serious challenge of a completely united establishment front aiming to keep them out of power.

      Houellebecq on natives converting was one of his most prescient points I thought. I’ve thought for a number of years that the angry-White underclass in the UK is a huge, and untapped, source of potential converts for Islam.

      Ultimately, people like being on the winning team and when you’ve got the choice between being a nationalist/nativist and being treated with contempt by your own society (and frequently harassed and facing career damage) or joining a religion which is unashamedly chauvinistic in every respect, encourages masculinity, and is both confident and largely protected from criticism by the polite establishment.

      One would require both incredible strength of mind and principled character to remain an adherant of the former (lost) cause rather than turning coats and joining the inevitable victors.

      • Interesting post, but I don’t see much of a possibility that the White working class will convert to Islam. Outside of a handful of individuals, they will remain largely within a right-wing nationalist framework. And I believe that these are the people who will save Europe. If they don’t do it, the Mohammedans will eventually take over.

        I see three broad forces at work in Europe: (1) The multicultural establishment:socialists, liberals and conservatives. (2) Nationalists, populists, and nativists. (3) Muslims. Right now the multicultural elites are in charge but both the nationalists and the Muslims are gaining strength. And every time the Muslims go on a rampage, the nativists grow. That’s an interesting dynamic.

        Europe gave us Kant, Mozart and Beethoven. And perhaps that legacy will be saved by bikers and soccer hooligans. Stranger things have happened.

        Maybe not this generation, but each successive generation is abandoning religion which leaves them ripe for something new, and if the something new converts them from hated and despised cracker to glorified “minority” why not?

  2. I wonder how many French will apologize to the Muslims for causing them to do this .How many people will be virtue signaling.

  3. I’m curious what all the people who think that the Europeans are well ahead of us stupid Americans in the self-preservation sweepstakes think. I don’t think that France has an answer to this, or possibly can. Having imported a huge bloc of aliens into a libertine society, they’ll just have to live with it.

  4. What happened in Nice, France:

    Seems like a scene out of Knight Rider, where the evil doppelganger of David Hasselhoff, drives a truck called Goliath and runs over a bunch of people during a festive celebration called Bastile Night, causing a stampede that one finds in the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.

    Just imagine someone plowing a semi into a crowd of people in a Times Square Celebration. Our anti-terrorism force and police state might not prevent this from happening. Scary!

    • Maybe the best Knight Rider episode. I had a thing for those babes that worked on the car too. And IMHO, that episode was inspired by Star Trek’s “Mirror, Mirror.”

    • Re: Times Square, I would say that’s a special case. The NYPD counter terrorism assets are like a small army, to include even a foreign intelligence unit unique among police forces in America. During New Year’s Eve, you can be sure trucks are being scrutinized at the bridges which form a choke-point into the city (especially if they have dicey looking Mid-East drivers, as I doubt if NY’s finest all follow SJW injunctions against profiling).

      On the other hand, such an operation would be devastating if it occurred at some random, Middle-American, 4th of July or such, where measures against such a scenario as the one in France would be non-existent.

      July 14, 2016 at 9:38 pm

      • Using a gargantuan semi to mow down people is not what terrorist experts expect. Now what? Trucks must be banned on certain days at certain locations?

  5. I really don’t feel bad for the victims of these attacks anymore. Chances are most of the people who die in them supported the mass Islamic immigration that made them happen.

    These people never learn no matter how many lessons get served at them. Let em keep getting blown up.

    • My sympathy is starting to dry up too. After Charlie Hebdo I thought the French had finally gotten it, but instead they resorted to form and have been pathetic after each previous terrorist attack. They’ve lost the ability to learn from experience.
