Trump following my advice again!

I previously advised Trump to NOT talk about any of the following:

Abortion
Lowering taxes on the top 1%
Obamacare

And guess what? Not a single word about any of these topics for the entire evening!

Talking heads criticized some of the earlier speakers for being aimed at the “base” instead of undecided voters. They are wrong about that. If they were talking to the base, they would have talked about the three things above.

For example, the amazingly emotional speech by Pat Smith, the mother of one of the Benghazi victims, was not talking to the “base” as claimed by CNN talking heads, she was talking to all blue-collar whites who are patriotic Americans but who don’t necessarily have a tradition of voting Republican and don’t necessarily oppose abortion, Obamacare, or higher taxes for the top 1%. Her speech would also appeal to a lot of Hispanics. Her speech also appeals to all women who are mothers. It doesn’t appeal to the elites who work in the mainstream media because they just see something devoid of policy attacking Hillary Clinton who they all support and assume that would only resonate with the “base.”

Regarding topics I advised Trump to talk about, the night’s speakers heavily talked about one of them:

Law and order; stick up for the police.

And hit on two more:

Islamic terrorism
Clinton lied about the emails [and I think that Clinton lying about Benghazi is in the same category]

There was very little about immigration and nothing about jobs, jobs jobs, but I presume that’s coming.

  1. I’m following all this second hand. I just can’t watch on TV, don’t have the stomach. But I watched the speech by Patricia Smith – it astonished me. I mean that quite literally. And they had speeches by parents of kids killed by criminal illegals – is that right? I can’t believe this. They are actually going to take the fight to the Democrats on matters of national survival. Can this be the Republican Party?

Twitter is going crazy about Melania’s speech, saying it was “plagiarized” from Michelle Obama’s. I find that funny in light of your observation that M’s speech made Trump look like Superman. So, Michelle’s speech made Obama look like Superman? I didn’t watch either, so I can’t say, but that would explain a lot. The left’s idolization of Obama is one of the great untold stories, and our media is part of that Venn circle.

    • Trump has frequently brought up to the stage at his rallies these parents from the Rememberance Project who’ve had family members killed by illegal immigrants. The most memorable being Beaumont TX and Las Vegas last December.

This is Trump’s Republican party now.

    • That kind of thing only excites talking heads. Everyone knows that neither Michelle Obama nor Melania Trump wrote their speeches, so making a fuss about one anonymous ghostwriter copying another anonymous ghostwriter when the whole thing is self-aware artifice just looks like the social media version of “penny wise, pound foolish.”

    • the plagiarism concerns two paragraphs about handwork, so no, michelle’s speech didn’t make obama look like a superman.

I think yes, for now. This sort of agenda is all Trump. The normal Republican Party regulars would never allow that; too divisive. Instead they would have a lot of flag waving and trying to pack the hall with as many minorities as possible in hopes that the camera would catch it.

I like this version of the party that takes the fight to the Democrats, but it may not last.

  2. This election exposes the hollowness of the ideology of National Review and Conservatism Inc. They offer tax cuts to the rich, cuts in social security and medicare, more wars, more immigration of all kinds, and free trade to send jobs abroad.

Oh yeah, and punishment for women who have abortions.

Why would anyone want to support this plan to create a dystopian future?
