No flags at DNC because Dems don’t love America

To Dems, at least the liberal-elite running the party, America is a place to be hated for its racism and social injustice, and not a place to be loved. Thus the oversight in not having any American flags on stage. It’s an oversight born from such a lack of patriotism that they forgot the flags.

  1. It’s only a matter of time before the Stars & Stripes follows the Confederate flag.

  2. The Dems’ response to Trump’s “Make America great again” went form “America was never great” to “America was always great” pretty quickly.

    • Michelle’s voice is noticeably deeper 8 years later. It might be because of her anger, but look at her arms as well.

      • She’s 8 years older.

      • Lion, you might have been right about Serena not being on roids — there are a couple of super-muscular Black women at my gym who probably aren’t on them. They seem too innocent for that. They smile and talk in girly voices. And Michelle’s probably not on roids either, although she doesn’t smile or talk in a girly voice.

  3. Like Obama in his sole private sector job, many Democrats feel like the place they work, the USA, is enemy territory.

  4. I’m surprised they don’t have Mexican flags.

  5. Hate to dissent here, but isn’t this obsession with waving flags sort of……..prole? I personally don’t see why you need to wave the American flag at an American convention. I mean everyone in the hall is an American – except for foreign reporters. Shouldn’t we assume that they are loyal to their country and love it? And if they weren’t, wouldn’t waving the flag be an easy way to cover up their real feelings? I’ve always been of the opinion that conservatives (traditional ones, not the HBD type on this blog) love waving the flag because it’s an easy thing to do and something their “silent majority” can do without much effort. As long as ordinary voters can wave the flag easy and sing “God bless America” we get to overlook the million and one ways that Americans increasingly lead very UN-conservative lives.

    • “And if they weren’t, wouldn’t waving the flag be an easy way to cover up their real feelings?” Very easy, and that’s why we will see more tonight.

      • Wait till the laughable de Blasio speaks. What a joke!

        July 26, 2016 at 9:13 pm

      • My ex-cop super, who hates de Blasio, says that de Blasio (is this how the name’s actually spelled, JS?) came up with the phrase “Black Lives Matter” in the first place. Wow, that’s something to be ashamed of for the rest of your life!

    • >>>Hate to dissent here, but isn’t this obsession with waving flags sort of……..prole?

What’s wrong with that? I’m prole and proud of it.

    • “I mean everyone in the hall is an American – except for foreign reporters.”

Well, then there’s the illegals who get up on stage for everyone to see so their daughter can mope about how they might get sent back home some day. What… like IF THEY GET CAUGHT? Doesn’t seem they’re too concerned about that.

Anyway, I would bet there’s a sizable portion of non-Americans at that convention.

“Shouldn’t we assume that they are loyal to their country and love it?”

Only if we are utterly naive.

    • Virtually every comment I’ve seen from Maryk has been concern trolling. It’s honestly pathetic.

      • A “concern troll” in the context of this blog would be an opponent of HBD. I am a supporter of it. But I’m not a mindless right-wing zombie. I always thought the right-wing obsession with flags was a bit silly. But I’ll admit that I’m not supporting Trump. And I can’t even vote for the Constitution Party since it isn’t on the ballot in NY State. If the election looks close I’ll have to vote for Hilary to keep Trump from winning (UGH!) But if she’s winning I can “vote” my conscience by voting Republican for other offices, and skipping the presidential ballot. I really think conservatives will regret supporting Trump in the future – although I AM glad that he’s raised the issues of trade and immigration.

But no need to worry. The vote of a social conservative in NY State won’t decide the election.

        July 27, 2016 at 3:07 am

      • The vote of no NY Republicans will decided this election, which is why they ought to be stripped of delegates.

  6. Yes, obsession with the flag is prole and and tacky. When my father was in the army in World War II, the flag was a fine symbol of the country. By the late 1940s even a Democrat (Truman) was endorsing loyalty oaths. As far as we were concerned, the flag had been co-opted by John Birchers and rural folk and suburbanites and didn’t suit the sensibilities of New Yorkers. Now this is true all the more so.

    • Is it prole to want to be a citizen of a nation? Or should we be SWPL and consider ourselves global citizens?

      July 26, 2016 at 9:31 pm

    • Western civilization is on life support because it’s adopted “the sensibilities of New Yorkers.”

  7. I heard Rush talk about this today. Leave it to the Dems to forget the flags, but in their defense, there is no reason to have the flags.

    July 26, 2016 at 9:16 pm

    • “there is no reason to have the flags”

Symbolic displays are important to some people. I would think that the “party of inclusion” would make a little effort to include those people.

If the black flag of ISIS was displayed, I wonder how long before someone said something?

      • I thought you were referring to the band with Henry Rollins.

  8. Nothing is more normal then displaying a flag at a party convention. It’s done in Israel and in Russia, which are the two countries I’m familiar with. Political parties is about a vision of what’s the best for the country that they love, so the flag is very appropriate. Americans like flying their flag a lot and that’s a fine thing.

Now a bikini or bermudas with the colors of the flag – that’s poor taste. A flag has an element of holiness about it and should be treated with respect.

    Lion’s observation is correct.

    July 26, 2016 at 10:05 pm

  9. No Mexican flag. Disappointing, ese.

  10. Seems like a fairly basic oversight. And, considering the amount of effort that goes into the lighting, acoustics, etc., it’s either deliberate or they’re a scary level of stupid.

The establishment of both sides of the political spectrum hate America – or rather, Americans, and want to replace them with more atomized, acquiescent and above all cheaper options.

    July 27, 2016 at 4:55 am

  11. Due to their experience with nationalism, Germans are still uncomfortable with flying their flag or declaring love of country. The upstart right-wing party AfD and anti-Muslim movement PEGIDA aren’t helping with their antics.

    July 27, 2016 at 7:21 am

  12. And uhh…where’s your flag? I’ll bet a million dollars you don’t have one hanging up anywhere.

    July 27, 2016 at 1:15 pm

  13. Lion, love the blog but sometimes you pass around the lamest Newsmax-style talking points.

YES there were flags, and on stage. In fact Meryl Streep WORE one in her speech.
