Trump in the lead again

Will #nevertrumpers please shut up now? And note that the LA Time poll, being an internet poll, is more accurate than phone polls where respondents lie because they are embarrassed to tell a live human they are going to vote for a racist.

Also, I agree with Ted’s comment from two days ago:

Trump himself hasn’t “blown” anything.

The forces which were always gathering to defeat him, the globalists AND the media they control, simply waited for the conventions to launch the media-coordinated attack.

The moment “dark” was on EVERY single local ABC, NBC, CBS affiliate, along with CNN and Fox to boot, you saw the global puppetmasters and the pollsters they hired go to work. It’s been a 24/7 onslaught ever since and if the Gold Star idiot dad had never existed at all, they’d have made him up anyway.

And as I previously pointed out, Trump’s supposedly “dark” speech borrowed heavily from Bill Clinton’s speech in 1992.

Trump didn’t let Manafort go because he felt Manafort was trying to turn him to GOPe and Manafort didn’t leave to jump ship from a dying campaign. Trump was never down 15 points.

Trump let Manafort go because he felt Manafort left him unprepared for the hellfire the media reigned down on him after the DNC and then didn’t help him make the necessary adjustments to get control over the narrative again. Manafort’s job was to secure the delegates, fend off the GOPe/nevertrump delegate mutiny and have a successful RNC. Manafort’s usefulness had come and gone. So Trump brought in someone, Bannon, who knows the new media, knows populism/nationalism and the globalist threat.

Indeed, Trump’s real enemy is not Hillary Clinton, but the mainstream media. And who better direct a campaign against the media: GOPe hack or an actual media guy like Bannon?

The Undiscovered Jew writes:

The new, improved, Trump messaging is the result of Kellyanne Conway’s influence. I’m not sure why she was able to get Trump to focus his approach while Manafort failed. But the important thing is it seems to be working.

Manafort is a GOPe guy that Trump needed for purposes of defending against a delegate floor fight and to bring the GOPe onboard for the convention, but they probably never bonded in any way.

Autonomous cars are coming!!!!

“Uber is accelerating its plan to replace its 1 million human drivers with robots as quickly as possible,” Uber Chief Executive Travis Kalanick said in a blog post Thursday. He also announced a partnership with Volvo to work on driverless car development and the acquisition of Otto, a driverless truck technology company (L.A. Times).

Good news for those looking for inexpensive, convenient and safe cab rides! Bad news for those employed as drivers.

The future will go one of three ways:

(1) Dystopian future where the masses are impoverished and unemployed because even though the future brings massive production with minimal human labor, humans were too shortsighted to develop a new economic system to bring those benefits to the vast majority of humans.

(2) Government pays people to play World of Warcraft.

(3) Basic income for everyone.

I can hear a libertarian saying, “Lion, you are STUPID, everyone knows that technology and the free market always creates new jobs!”

Trump is back

Even though the reporters at the Washington Post hate him, this is a pretty good inside story about how Trump overhauled his campaign leadership.

I have a good feeling about these changes. Manafort was trying to turn Trump into Jeb Romney Bush and that wasn’t working for Trump and it didn’t work too well for Jeb Bush or Mitt Romney either.

UPDATE

Paul Manafort quit!

How’s the FTSE 100 doing?

June 23: 6338.10 Last close before Brexit vote.

June 27: 5982.10 Low after Brexit vote. Commetentators in mainstream media saying “see, Brexit destroyed the United Kingdom’s economy, you stupid voters are getting what you deserve.”

August 15: 6941.19 Today. Up 10% since June 23, up 16% since June 27. Maybe the stupid voters were right and mainstream media commentators were actually the stupid people?

What’s up with the stock market?

New highs again today. It’s almost as if my Illuminati conspiracy theories are true, that secret groups are pumping up stocks and everything else going into the presidential election.

A Bloomberg article from last week:

Over the last year, Federal Reserve officials have dramatically curtailed ambitions for interest-rate increases, even as inflation has risen and unemployment has declined.

So what gives?

Perhaps just as important as the increased attention being paid to headwinds from abroad are the changing attitudes of Fed policy makers toward inflation. That suggests more confidence they can afford to keep borrowing costs lower for longer, because there is less concern that price pressures will get out of hand.

Maybe the real reason they are keeping interest rates low despite it being almost 8 years since the asset crash and banking crisis of 2008 is to ensure Hillary gets elected?

With interest rates already at rock bottom, how will the Fed deal with a future crash?

Richard writes in a comment:

What sucks about righties having no control over the media is that questions that would embarrass liberals never get asked. Are the lefties who were howling about the damage Brexit had done to the U.S. stock market a few months ago issuing any recriminations? If things had been reversed the top outlets would be running news stories mocking those people, or at the very least calling them to account, forcing them to defend themselves with the weapons they chose to fight with. But it’s just going to be forgotten because it’s too much reality for the reality-based community to account for.

George Soros hack

So is there anything juicy in here?

* * *

The only thing I see is that a massive amount of work went into creating all of those long documents in there. That’s what the modern economy is about, people doing make-work that doesn’t create any real value.

Game over if Hillary wins

Let’s go back to 2012. Mitt Romney lost. But it was NOT game over for Republicans. They maintained dominance in Congress, they blocked Obama from granting statutory amnesty to illegal aliens, not much changed in four years.

Now, a lot of #NeverTrumpers think that the same thing will happen again, and they can run a “true conservative” candidate in 2020. Assuming Republican primary voters will select a “true conservative.” Even if Mitt Romney can be considered a “true conservative,” in 2008 voters selected John McCain (a very moderate pro-amnesty Republican who made deals with Democrats) and of course this year they selected Donald Trump. Primary voters NEVER selected a conservative firebrand like Ted Cruz. George W. Bush was very conservative on Christian issues, but under his presidency we saw massive increases in government spending and government debt, stupid wars in the Middle East that in the long run accomplished no useful goal, and he supported the amnesty bill. The Republican primary process is not capable of selecting a great candidate. Trump is the best we are going to get.

(1) It’s hard to see how the Supreme Court remains conservative or even moderate after Hillary gets to select at least one liberal justice to replace Scalia, and who knows if Kennedy, who is 80 years old, can hang on another four years? Also, Ginsburg is extremely likely to be replaced during the next four years, and it makes a huge difference if she’s replaced by another extreme liberal or by a conservative.

With a liberal Supreme Court, the liberals can rule by judicial fiat even if Republicans control the other branches of government. We saw how activist the Supreme Court was in the period between Brown v. Board of Ed. (1954) and Roe v. Wade (1973). Expect that activism to return big time.

(2) Republicans will be utterly demoralized and there will be forces saying that the key to the Republican future is to agree to amnesty for Hispanics who are “natural conservatives” and will start voting Republican if only Republicans weren’t so hostile to immigration. I know it didn’t happen that way in 2012, but are you willing to risk that it’s going to be the same this time?

Democrats don’t merely want amnesty, they want amnesty with a path to citizenship, and if they get that from Congress, or if the liberal Supreme Court says it’s unconstitutional not to give them citizenship, then we are talking about 11 million new voters who I predict will lean more heavily Democratic than current Hispanic citizens. They may be poor and “uneducated,” but collectively they will remember which party had their back. I guarantee it.

OldTimer writes in a comment:

Can we please stop trotting out this bullshit 11 million figure which has been static for the better half of two decades? Reliable private sector estimates say it is closer to 30 million, which makes much more sense.

If OldTimer is correct, then amnesty with citizenship would be an even bigger disaster for the future of the Republican Party.

Brendan Dassey’s conviction overturned

After watching Making a Murderer, I wrote about Brendan Dassey: “there’s a good chance that he didn’t do anything but merely told investigators what they wanted him to say because he was subject to psychological manipulation by aggressive interrogators.”

Yesterday, a judge overturned his conviction because the confession was improperly obtained.

I don’t think it’s likely that he will be prosecuted again. Without the confession, there’s no evidence against him. Too bad he had to spend 10 years in prison.
