In Japan, many are virgins

Interesting news from Japan:

[A] survey of unmarried people aged 18 to 34 found that around 42 per cent of men and 44.2 per cent of single women had never had sex. … The last time the study was conducted in 2010, only 36.2 per cent of men and 38.7 percent of women said they were virgins.

That’s a lot different than the United States where virginity in that age group is so rare it can be considered deviant behavior.

I believe that HBD is responsible for the difference, and that the Japanese genotype is unable to deal with modern times which call for marriage being delayed until young people are finished with their education and have a career track. But don’t worry about the Japanese race dying out, what will happen is that natural selection will cause a vast increase in Japanese sex drive after a few generations like this. If you want to know what Japan will be like in two hundred years, you need to look at how the minority of Japanese who are actually having a lot of children differ from the rest of their society.

  1. Japan is a good argument against the white nationalist argument that presence of non-white races and influences in Western societies is the primary cause for white failure and dysfunction. The root problem is modern socioeconomic structures, to which different races respond in different ways. The Japanese become virgins, Western Europeans open their borders.

    • The idea of opening borders predates modern conditions. It goes back to the 18th century. This insane policy is just one more step in implementing the Enlightenment utopian project.

    • Japan is not dysfunctional the same way as western countries, far from it. It is safe, clean and still holds many traditional values, it is like going back to the fifties but in the future. We have to remember that Japan has much larger population per landmass and certainly per natural resources than most western countries. So this is just a natural correction.

Beyond that, the stats are very broad and based on the western mating conventions like loosing virginity early and high number of partners before wedding. Those things were always different in Japan. If anything, Japan is a prime example to the virtues of successful homogenous country, birth rate is just one factor in what makes a country functional or not.

  3. I’d be willing to bet the women having the most kids are married to foreigners. Japan as a whole is 98% Japanese, but I believe about 1/20 new births is to a non-Japanese father.

    Bilbo Baggins

September 18, 2016 at EST am

    • Japan is 2% foreign but 5% of births are to foreign fathers. That sounds like foreigners produce a disproportionate number of children. But that 2% foreign population isn’t distributed evenly throughout the age groups. It’s almost exclusively in the young family range. So the foreign population of family age probably makes up 5% of the population.

  5. Japan is in a reasonable position for getting back to healthily having women mostly marrying young and as virgins. They are just following the great leader into an increasingly stupid and dispiriting position. In general, this is a fairly good time, if perhaps a bit late for some, for those imitating the West to think some more on what features are actually worth adopting. Science and Engineering? Hell yeah. Economics. OK, probably good. Everyone in school for ten more years without improving results? Hmm, maybe we need to check that. Fat self-hating attention seekers as thought leaders? Nah, maoists are no good. Unrestrained HIV orgies night after night? Nah. Old maids freezing their eggs to advance just. one. more. step? Nah. Neurotics applauded to hack off their genitals? Nah. It goes on.

  6. I would be interested in seeing a breakdown of the data, 18-34 is a large range. It is possible that most of the virgins in this group are 18-20, for example.

      • There are almost no such people. If you are not a snob, you find someone on your level. Also, a lot of unattractive people compensate for it by having good hearts. I’ll think a good heart is more attractive then physical beauty that is bound to fade away, but a good heart only gets better with time. The more good deals you do, the better you become. The most important thing for a woman is a good heart.

Japanese are very unattractive, though? Do they have good hearts?

      • I lived in Japan and Japanese women are, on the whole, the least attractive women in North East Asia. They tend to be dumpy and squat, with thick calves. Korean women are probably the most attractive, then Northern Han Chinese, who are fairly tall for Asians. Southern Chinese, who make up most of the immigrants to the US, tend to be shorter and darker than Northern Chinese and not as attractive.

      • Glad to hear that, I never bothered reading it. So what’s the real number? Seems like an ideal country for Christianity with its cult of virginity and abstinence. I think JAPs had gone a long way and deserve credit regardless of their weirdness. They gave us martial arts, judo, sumo, sushi what else actually? Let’s talk about it: what’s their contribution to civilization? I wanna get it down. All I can think about is food and fighting and packman.

      • Are they actually that good at fighting? The only Japanese MMA guy I’ve heard of is half-Japanese — Lyoto Machida. Okay, so they taught us the stuff that’s being used to win MMA fights. But I think that those submission-holds were common knowledge back in the European Renaissance. The Japanese only still knew about them because they were 300 years behind — the Europeans had forgotten their own Jiu-Jitsu three hundred years earlier. The Ancient Greeks invented Jiu-Jitsu — they called it “Pantakreon” or something like that. (I’m making all this stuff up, but I’ll bet it’s true!) Maybe we love the Japanese because they remind us of our own younger selves.

      • @Garr

Once the the martial arts got to the West, the East lost its dominance forever. The Western creative approach, versus the scripted traditional oriental approach allows for more effective scientific trainings, techniques and fighting. We kicked the proverbial crap out of them. Mongolians are dominating in the Sumo though, but look at Russian Sumo with its weight categories. It’s a totaly amazing sport.

      • The contribution of the Japanese is not so much by inventing new things but rather by taking existing technologies and bringing them to perfection or just making this next evolutionary step which in many cases has huge impact on the way we live our lives.

A prime example for quality and perfection is the Toyota Hilux and for next evolutionary step is the Walkmen, but I could give you countless examples. Take for example synths and drum machines, huge influence on music and culture, mainly created by Japanese. Video games and game consoles had also huge cultural effects. Their animation style and characters are part of the childhood of any kid around the world.

When the Americans forced the Japanese to trade they gave them 3 presents, a scaled down train, a camera and a telegraph. The Japanese were the first to use telecommunication in a war, their cameras are controlling the market and their bullet trains puts to shame any american train existing today. Those improvements they did to all those technologies are their great achievement.

  11. This isn’t necessarily about sex drive but about fornication – sex outside of marriage. I believe fornication is still regarded relatively negatively in Japan. In the US, until relatively recently, fornication was regarded as a bad thing and as a great sin. Most Americans no longer think that. People who view something negatively and as bad or immoral will less likely engage in it.

In the US, most fornication is sterile. People use birth control, abortion, engage in homosexual activity, etc. So it’s not necessarily selecting for greater sex drive.

  14. Out of the 5 or 6 couples I’ve known of Japanese wife and American husband (all sides highly educated with MS or PhDs), at least 4 have ended in rather nasty divorces and the others appeared very strained. The Japanese culture is a little repressive on women and I think American men are typically not ready for that. I haven’t seen that happen as much with Korean or Chinese + American husbands, except when the wife is a juicy girl (Korean army bride) or from online (Chinese typically).
