Rudy for Secretary of State

The rumor mill says that Rudy Giuliani will be Secretary of State. That’s quite a surprise; everyone assumed he’d be Attorney General.

Does that mean Chris Christie is on track for Attorney General, or has Bridge-gate killed his career?

  1. I hope Bolton is out. He’s a neocon warmonger. Sessions will be AG?

  2. I think Rudy likes the idea of being in charge of the “extreme vetting.” Plus, he’s made too many overt statements about locking up Hillary to be seen impartial as AG. Trump may decide he needs someone who wasn’t on the trail with him to be the one to prosecute Hillary.

  3. Rudy for Secretary of State … sounds less bad than Newt or John Bolton. What an embarrassment that would have been … makes it look like Trump was just a Trojan horse for letting the neocons back in.

P.S. Sessions is true blue on immigration, but I hope he isn’t part of the foreign policy team. Word is he’s simpatico with Bolton.

  4. The confirmation hearings for Christie would be brutal.

  5. I can’t get excited about this as you, yourself, have said that Rudy isn’t particularly bright. He’s also 72 years old.

  6. I really hope whoever is AG is not stupid enough to start enforcing marijuana laws in states that have decriminalized or legalized. Would be political suicide for the God-Emperor.

  7. Let’s all hope that second generation GS banker and Soros connected Steve Mnuchin is not chosen for Treasury Secretary.

  8. The others were horrible choices, but what qualifications does Giulliany have? I would put him in charge of a newly created ‘Migrant Control and Repatriation Affairs Agency’.

  9. I also read a headline floating Clinton for something. Seems like Trump is trying to build a wide spread of perspectives partly because he seems difficult/immune to persuasion (using Scott Adams’ rubric).

  10. None of the above. Both are swamp critters.

  11. Rudy is an excellent pick. He’s very old and was never terribly brilliant to begin with so it is unlikely he’ll be a schemer bent on pushing through his own unique foreign policy views. Rudy should be content taking whatever orders Team Trump transmits to him and doing his best to carry them out.

Christie I think is finished. He brings nothing to the table that overcomes the stench of the Bridgegate. Trump rewarded him sufficiently with the kind words on election night that allow him to retire from the political scene with dignity. Frankly, the guy should be counting his lucky stars he’s not facing 20 years in the can as the idea he wasn’t the one giving the orders on that whole deal is almost impossible to imagine.

    • Bridgegate is absolutely nothing. Nobody outside of the NYC metro area has ever heard of it. Creating a traffic jam? What a joke. The fact that NYers think that it is a scandal just shows how myopic they are. I’m not at all a fan of Christie but, seriously, he must be scandal-free if that is what they are pushing.

  12. Christie and Rudy serving in a Republican presidential administration would be wonderful, but I fear Bridgegate has done Christie in.
