All part of the plan, or Kellyanne Conway going rogue?
Four days ago, I wrote in response to Conway’s tweets:
Second-guessing Trump’s decisions in public like this would surely get Trump mad at her. Why did she do it?
Maybe, because Trump asked her, because he wants Romney to read it, because he wants Romney to beg harder for the job and/or show more public contrition.
Since then Conway has increased the volume of her anti-Romney campaign. The info from Scarborough suggests that Conway has gone rogue and it’s not part of some master plan.

Please. When has Trump ever let the media speak for him?

Trump ‘furious’
LOL. When is Trump ever “furious”? Trump is a cold blooded killer. He doesn’t need to be furious. Women and gays talk about being furious.
Here’s the best pick for SoS so far, despite flaws.

And please, enough with Petraeus. Trump loves celebrities!

I do think that Dana Rohrabacher is the right fit. His proposals are fairly Trumpish, he was loyal even during the Billy Bush tape scandal, and he has enough Congressional experience to be a meaty pick.
Even if Romney does publicly apologize, I just don’t think he and Trump share enough of a foreign policy for him to be a sensible SoS pick. Compare their rhetoric on Russia.
I think that Petraeus should be given a slot somewhere, but he shouldn’t become SoS just yet. He mishandled classified information, which makes him politically toxic, so he should work hard somewhere before being given a top-tier position.

I’m going to assume this is Trump’s revenge against Romney until proven otherwise.

Pushback on reports Trump is furious w/Conway;
Either Conway is being shielded by the Ivanka mafia (and who would make a better mafia Don(na?) than Ivanka?) or DJT is putting on a show to confuse Romney.
It’s all very well scripted either way.

“John Harwood is a disgusting, lying hack who insisted that his insider sources from both parties told him Hillary was going to win by 5.”
True….but I think he might be right here. Trump may be undisciplined, but Conway isn’t, and I can’t imagine her “going rogue.” This smacks of some sort of manipulation.

She is right though. Romney is a dispicable, slimy politician. He never stood for anything, doesn’t stand for anything now and will never stand for anything. I think higher of Fidel then of Romney.

Maybe she’s just being Sincere. Strange concept when talking about politics.
That said, I can’t stand Romney either. He’s just the worst of the left and right all at once. Get him out of public sight.

I want party unity and I’m willing to give Romney the job to get it. If Trump decides not go, I’ll trust his judgement.
I just want a free hand to destroy the immigrant community. Bringing the Romney wing on board with our plan to liquidate the immigrants would be excellent.

I think it is probably a clever ploy. Trump potentially appoints Romney; He gets negative feedback from his base; he has Kelly Anne badmouth Romney as a choice. He backs away from Romney because of something other than personal animus.
Trump then shows he can respond to his public as well as attempt to heal a rift with the GOP.

This Borowitz report one is really amusing, particuliarly the pseudo-Kelleyane comments :
NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Just days after picking Betsy DeVos to run the Department of Education, President-elect Donald Trump has tapped another wealthy outsider by naming Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán to head the Drug Enforcement Administration.
In an official statement, Trump said that El Chapo’s “tremendous success in the private sector” showed that he has what it takes to “shake things up” at the D.E.A.
Trump’s appointment of the former drug lord surprised many in Washington, in no small part because acrimony between the two allegedly prompted El Chapo, in 2015, to put a hundred-million-dollar bounty on Trump’s head.
But, appearing on CNN, the Trump surrogate Kellyanne Conway said that the selection of El Chapo should surprise no one. “Mr. Trump always said that he would surround himself with the best people,” she said.
When asked why Trump had readily offered a job to El Chapo while still mulling the fate of another former adversary, Mitt Romney, Conway said, “El Chapo might not have voted for Mr. Trump, but that’s because he’s Mexican and in jail, and Mitt Romney is neither.”
The appointment of the former drug kingpin is far from a done deal, however, as associates of El Chapo report that he is “concerned” that being a member of the Trump Administration would be bad for his brand.
Andy Borowitz is a New York Times best-selling author and a comedian who has written for The New Yorker since 1998. He writes the Borowitz Report for newyorker.com.
