The creator of the video will take it down

with 24 comments

According to this article at The Wrap (and note that the traditional mainstream media like the New York Times is not reporting on this at all because they are following their custom to not write stuff about children of Presidents):

1. The creator of the video says he will take it down.

2. The creator of the video was diagnosed with autism at age 5. Can someone with autism spot another with the problem?

3. The video was viewed 1.2 million times.

I just checked the video and see that it has now been viewed 3.9 million times. This means that news that the video may no longer be available prompted 2.7 million people to watch it. If Melania’s goal was for the video to disappear, having her lawyer send a threatening letter had the opposite effect.

And I can guarantee you that some of those 3.9 million viewers saved a copy and that the video will reappear in the future.

* * *

Donald Trump, who is a master persuader (according to Scott Adams the creator of Dilbert), would have known that a threatening legal letter would only bring more attention to the story. Therefore I conclude that this is 100% Melania’s doing and that she didn’t consult her husband who is too busy interviewing people to work on his transition to have time to talk to Melania.

  1. I genuinely think Barron’s issues are a political plus for Trump in that they soften his image of a firebreathing rager on the stump surrounded by Amazonian alpha women.

Where is your evidence that this happened at all?

Seems like a media hoax for clicks/views by TMZ.

  2. “And I can guarantee you that some of those 3.9 million viewers saved a copy and that the video will reappear in the future.”

I’m sure it will. But that would have been the case anyway. By removing the original and primary source the views will be greatly reduced and the issue will fade away. It wasn’t a very good or convincing video anyway.

  3. Trumo has a system, not a goal. His system is to always respond to these kind of smears.

    • Donald Trump’s system is to attack the mainstream media and rival politicians on Twitter.

Sending a legalistic letter to an autistic nobody vlogger is a Melania thing.

    • Unless his plan is to pull an obama birth certificate thing where he drags it out so that his opponents look super foolish when he finally shows how unequivocally wrong they are, he should just show Barron acting like a normal kid in some subtle way.

  4. I recognize that I am more libertarian-inclined than most people here, but I think it is a mistake for Trump to be doing things like this and today’s teeeting about imprisoning flag-burners, things that encourage people to suspect he does not respect the First Amendment.

Trump is an effective speaker, instead of pursuing legal action against those he disagrees with, he should just persuasively express his disagreement. Passionately defending his son whom he loves and his country which he loves would win him more sympathy than threatening people with lawyers.

    • A reasonable patriot could argue that burning the US flag is not free speech, but inciting a riot. You do not have free speech to yell fire in public places.

    • Burning your country’s flag isn’t “free speech”. It’s an act of rebellion. A nation can’t survive without a strong government. Not only will it tear itself apart from within it will also be vulnerable to conquest from without. That’s why I think flag burners should get 10 years in prison. Studies have shown leftists have no respect for authority. That’s why you’ll only find leftwing radicals burning their own country’s flags.

      • As an HBDer, I support absolute freedom of speech. Any weakening of free speech and the SJWs will be coming for me.

      • I appreciate your point. But I don’t think banning flag burning weakens free speech any more than banning terroristic threats does. Those are very specific things.

      • Absolute protection for free speech is necessary to prevent the slippery slope into liberals banning HBD blogs.

      • Lion is absolutely right; look how in Canada and Europe people are prosecuted for criticism of Muslims and homosexuals–any diminution of free speech rights would hit people like the Lion the hardest.

      • True, and America has a lot more contention than Canada and Europe combined.

America has greater selection of ethnics, religions and creeds who all disagree and clash with one another in some way or the other. America is a beast land or what Yakov calls NYC — the jungle!

But Trump is constantly picking fights that serve no apparent strategic interest, & Trump has long argued that libel laws in the U.S. need to be changed to better protect public figures.

Btw doesn’t the fact that Trump is a master persuader undermine the video’s speculation about his son (autism’s thought to be a largely genetic condition related to weak social cognition) or do you feel Trump’s political incorrectness & prole behaviour suggest social unawareness, despite his political genius?

Of course anyone can have an allegedly autistic kid, especially with new mutations occurring as we age

    • ” do you feel Trump’s political incorrectness & prole behaviour suggest social unawareness, despite his political genius”

That’s an interesting hypothesis, that Donald himself is on the autism “spectrum.”

      • In psychology there is a term called “Self-monitoring” where you adjust affect according to the people around you. Trump seems like a low self-monitor…he is just Trump, no matter what situation he is in. Most politicians are ingratiating high self-monitors, like used car salesman, who adjust their affect to the situation and say things they don’t mean and change their views all the time (Mitt Romney is a great example of this), which is why they come off as slimy.

  6. Melania just acted as a mum protecting her son without thinking too much and it’s fine. She is not the president, nobody voted for her and we shouldn’t hold her to any standard or expect anything from her.

As for the kid himself, he is also fine, just a normal kid in the spotlight who is slightly shy. I have seen perfectly friendly and healthy kids behave in a weird way and out of their character when in the spotlight. It is normal, god I wish people stop this feminisation and dramatisation of every stupid event.

I agree with this, and I’m beginning to suspect that she’s less intelligent than Trump’s previous two wives.

  8. This is what has fueled speculation about Barron possibly being autistic:

“Meeting with Trump emboldens anti-vaccine activists, who see an ally in the Oval Office”

    https://www.statnews.com/2016/11/30/donald-trump-vaccines-policy/

Trump has taken a personal interest in the vaccines-cause-autism issue, which is a fringe issue that primarily attracts parents with autistic children. This is why people have speculated that Barron may be autistic. It is generally impolitic to bring up someone’s young child in political discussions, but Trump’s interest in the matter probably does warrant questioning if he has a personal connection to the issue, especially if it will have ramifications on public policy regarding things like vaccination.
