Where the seven countries come from

The Obama Administration!

DHS archive announcement.

Those countries were previously targeted for “travel restrictions” because of their association with terrorism. That happened under the Obama administration. Trump just enhanced the level of the restriction for citizens of those countries to a total ban.

Thank you commenter “Alex” for this info.

  1. Of course this is true, but the feckless way the Trump WH rolled this new ban out has allowed the media and the left to make political hay out of it regardless. This was not a good decision by the God Emperor, I am sorry to say. I hope he’s just playing 3D chess and he’s already 6 moves ahead of everyone else, but it sure seems bad from here.

  2. This is where the right leaning world and Trump fail, simply because they come across as explicit hate mongers with anger management issues, despite the fact that liberals are spiteful too, but tend to be subtle with their motives/agendas. And Trump is no darling to the alt-right and WNs. He’s a businessman with a profit mentality. He didn’t approach these people, they came to him thinking he was their savior, and it turns out to be the contrary.

This is the same reason why many Guidos/Italian Americans will forever remain in Staten Island and vote Republican while the rest of NYC is full blown blue in the face.

  3. Oh go get soaked you feckless “muh terrorist” cucks who have commented on several posts. WHO CARES if Saudi Arabia isn’t included! Do you think this is really about terrorism?

No, that’s the fig leaf that lets Trump move so aggressively. This is, in reality, the most HBD decision of the U.S. government since the 1920s. Look at the list of nations. The people from those nations can best be classified, charitably, as worthless garbage. I don’t care if Trump says he’s banning them because they smell bad (which they do), or because they’re Yankee fans and he likes the Mets, or whatever. Who cares! This is a gift from heaven which you should be celebrating, and not pouting about “muh Saudi terrorists” as if you were Paul Ryan’s sickly old lap dog.

The only bad thing about this — and it’s quite bad — is that it’s time limited. It should have been “until we decide to change it.” Though I’m guessing when the time runs out Trump will say, “sorry, we don’t have the system in place yet. We’re extending the ban.”

Meanwhile, if it’s true that the Commie New York Judge is being ignored, that’s even more winning. The Republicucks have let the judiciary run wild for over 50 years. It’s long since time that someone punched back and just said, “Tough luck, Judge. Go try and enforce your decision.” No wonder Trump brought in a portrait of Andrew Jackson!

It’s too bad we have been brainwashed into thinking of ourselves as a nation of immigration with so many people going to Ancestry.com looking up their relatives.

Look at the idiot Trudeau who voluntarily will take all these refugees into Canada infesting his country with these people. Of course, he won’t pay for it and they won’t live near him.

This why I encourage all Anglo Whites to take on a new identity, if they are willing….

      • Yet the problem stems from the fact that Anglo Proles are unwilling to learn French. In Anglophone Canada, the costs of living is higher and the quality of life is lower, similar to the United States. The reason why Anglophones migrate to Québec is because it offers more to their sanity, yet they refuse to learn French. And then many also complain why they have less spending power, because Anglo societies have no culture, and only consumer spending.

  4. This list of countries was created for the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015, which is a law passed by Congress.

The Visa Waiver Program dates back to the 1986. It allows visitors from 38 countries to travel to the USA for business or tourism for 90 days without a visa, provided their countries also waive visa requirements for US Citizens. The 38 countries are mainly European, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan. No Middle Eastern countries are on the list for visa waivers.

The Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 added new requirements to the Visa Waiver Program. It says citizens of these 38 countries who visited Iraq or Syria and other countries on certain lists specified in the act (Iran and Sudan) can not use the visa waiver program. They must apply for a visa before they can visit the USA. The act also allowed the Secretary of Homeland Security to add countries suspected of having terrorist training camps to this list. The Obama administration added Libya, Somalia, and Yemen to the list.

So this is basically a list put together by Congress and the Obama administration of countries believed to have active terrorist training camps. The list did not apply to residents of Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia or Yemen because none of those countries were part of the visa waiver program in the first place.

The Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 was passed by Congress as a response to ISIS terrorist attacks in Europe. The European ISIS terrorists had traveled to training camps in Syria and other countries, then returned to Europe for terrorist attacks. The fear was that since these people were citizens of countries that were part of the visa waiver program, they could travel to the USA without a visa for terrorist attacks in the USA.

The Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015 seems like a reasonable response to a plausible threat.

Trump’s executive order make no sense. It mainly seems to be designed to make Democrats and Muslims angry at the Trump administration. There is no plausible threat to which this seems to be a response. It was implemented without discussions with Congress, which could be justified if it were a response to an emergency situation, but it seems to have been issued for political purposes.

      • Why do you bother to post here?

I post here because I think a big problem with America today is people have retreated into bubbles and only interact with people that share their political views on everything. The interaction of posting and replying to comments here exposes me to the reasoning of people with very different views and it exposes them to my reasoning.

Do you even believe in HBD bro?

It would take a long comment to explain my views on HBD. The short answer is I find it certainly plausible that there are racial differences in IQ, but there are many other factors (childhood lead exposure being one) that make determinations difficult. For almost all relevant decisions in life (which application should be hired, which candidate to vote for, …) you are picking a person, not a racial group. You need to evaluate the person, not be distracted by race.

Why do you have a problem with Muslim countries being banned from entering the United States.

First this is not what Trump did, but it is what he wants people to think he did.

Al-Qaeda and ISIS both tell Muslims that the west is at war with Islam and they have a duty to join those groups to defeat the west in a great religious war. There are 1.6 billion Muslims. The USA could not win a war on Islam. Even George Bush recognized this after 9/11. Islam it not the enemy. It is some terrorists trying to hijack Islam that are the enemy. They are a much smaller group. We need to work with Muslim nations to eliminate those terrorist groups. Most Muslim nations support that goal because they recognize that those groups are a threat to them as well.

Appearing to ban Muslims from entering the USA gives the appearance that the USA is at war with all of Islam. This is exactly what ISIS and Al-Qaeda want. Trump is playing right into their hands. Trump is pushing new recruits to these terrorist organizations without doing anything that improves the security of the USA. Trump is making it impossible for friendly Muslim nations to co-operate with the US to help fight terrorists. George Bush made some huge strategic errors in the Middle East, but Trump’s first move is right up there with Bush’s biggest mistakes.

Maybe MikeCA is Lion trying to stir the pot ;).

        Definitely not.

The USA can easily beat Islam. In fact the only way Islam could beat the USA is through getting in through the back door of immigration and gradually beating us demographically: higher birth rates, posing as refugees, etc. They could never conquer the USA in a conventonial war. Muslims understand this much better than we do.

I’m not suggesting that an Islamic army would storm ashore on the beaches of North Carolina or something.

The US has economic interests all over the world. Those interests could be attacked by extremest or nationalized by hostile governments.

Oil production and transportation in Middle East could be attacked and disrupted. The US is pretty energy independent but prices could go up significantly.

More moderate Middle East governments, like Saudi Arabia, could be overthrown and replaced with hard-line anti-US governments.

Pakistan could be overthrown by Islamic fundamentalist putting nuclear weapons in the hands of Islamic extremest. Supposedly the US has an emergency plan to take possession of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons in that event, but if I have heard this, I’m sure the extremest have too. The extremest could launch nuclear weapons into India. The official range of Pakistan’s latest nuclear capable cruise missile extends right up to the border of Israel. I bet the range is a little longer than the official range and they could reach Israel too.

Things are really a mess in the Middle East now, but they could be far worse.

There is no way the win a war with Islam in a conventional sense.

  8. Boy, the State Department makes it difficult to find out how many ‘refugees’ they’re allowing into the US.

Check this out from Pew Research Center (Certainly no friend of Trump.):
Nearly 26,000 refugees entered the U.S. from October to December 2016…

    No wonder Trump acted abruptly:
More than 8,600 ‘refugees’ per month being vetted by State Dept libtards.
All with no consequences to them if they’re wrong.
These are the same people who vetted the lovely Pakistani/Saudi, Tashfeen Malik, of San Bernadino infamy.

U.S. on track to reach Obama administration’s goal of resettling 110,000 refugees this year

“Nearly 26,000 refugees entered the U.S. from October to December 2016, close to the quarterly average number of refugees needed to meet the Obama administration’s target of 110,000 refugee admissions in fiscal year 2017, according to data from the U.S. State Department’s Refugee Processing Center.

The 2017 annual ceiling – the highest since 1995 – is significantly higher than last year’s ceiling of 85,000 refugee admissions. Administration officials said they wanted to increase refugee admissions to the U.S. due to the growing number of people displaced by conflicts around the world. In the first quarter of fiscal 2017 (October to December 2016), almost twice as many refugees have entered the U.S. as in the first quarter of the year before, when nearly 14,000 refugees entered the country.”

  10. I often see some nonsense out there about Green Cards. Specifically, that all Green Card people are “On the Path to Citizenship.” Yet I’ve seen statistics that show that only about 1/2 of Green Card holders ever bother with citizenship. I personally know many people who have had green cards for many years and have no intention of ever getting American citizenship. They still identify themselves as citizens of their birth country, even though they have American kids and have built their lives here.

This situation strikes me as rather odd. Maybe there should be a limit on the number of years you can be on a green card.

    • I knew a Turkish Jewish guy who won a green card in a lottery. This was in 1998. Don’t know what he’s doing now but in those days he had no intentions of staying in the US.

Another horror story are international adoptions. They are very big among sappy Christian women. There was an article in the NY Times about this. The extended families of the children have no intention of cutting ties with the family member who gets adopted. They regard the child as the anchor that will eventually chain migrate them to the US. Whether this is true or not I don’t know (do you, MikeCA?), but I mention it to point out the massive difference in psychology between Americans and traditional societies. Larry Auster used to blog about this incessantly.

Sorry, i’ve never heard of this before.

I know some families from Taiwan sent there sons to US Universities, then the son’s got jobs in the US, green cards and finally US citizenship. Then they applied to bring their parents to the USA. These were mostly families that had fled from the mainland to Taiwan, and only had weak family roots in Taiwan. They also feared the Chinese mainland would invade Taiwan. They desperately want to get some place safer like the USA.

I’ve never heard of this for adoptions.

      • Never heard of the green card lottery? Surprised. Google it.

Sorry, I didn’t mean that there was a cognate lottery with adoptions. I was referring to the fact that in international adoptions, the American parents assume that the children are without family entirely, and this isn’t the case. The American parents think of adoption as cutting all ties to biological and home culture, whereas the extended families think of the int’l adoption as a bridge to the US. I don’t think this is legally the case, but they think of it. So the process is something of a scam.

      • In a way you are right. Trudope is a liberal and only a liberal when it comes to Anglophone Canada. But now troublemakers have shot up a bunch of Muslims in his native province of Québec. French Canadians are more emboldened by hate than their Anglophone sissy cousins. He is in a difficult position and he will blame Trump for all of this. There’s a lot of ugliness to come….

  15. Now even Trump repeats the nonsense in his statement that we are a nation of immigrants and he doesn’t want a Muslim ban.

I would love a Muslim ban and a non-white ban.

      • That’s why the nation-state is a failure. A nation is a group of people of the same ethnicity, language and religion. What we have now is a state without the basis of a nation.

We need to break up this country and create many city-states.

This is a good presentation on secession.

It would be great if California seceded. But then they couldn’t force everybody else to live in a diverse society and control them, which is what they desire.

  16. During the primary both Ted Cruz and Rand Paul said they would ban visas from something like 30 dangerous countries (basically all Muslim) and noone batted an eyelid. I am beginning to think Trump’s brash words during the primary were a huge mistake un actually achieving the end goal of an all out Muslim ban. Now the whole world is going crazy over a 3 month ban from just 7 countries. It seems like we are mow further from the ultimate goal of an all out ban than we have ever been.

  17. Apparently the executive order (EO) to bar residents from the listed countries was not reviewed by the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department, the State Department, or the Department of Defense. Lawyers for that National Security Council were prevented from evaluating it.

What difference does this make? Normally, when government lawyers go to court to defend a national security EO like this, they argue that the policy was developed after serious consideration of the issues by the relevant agencies of the executive branch. It will be hard to argue that, because none of the relevant agencies were consulted. Apparently the EO even cited the wrong section of the law in one place because it was not reviewed by the normal legal staff that reviews all execution orders.

Benjamin Wittes of the Lawfare blog says, “The malevolence of President Trump’s Executive Order on visas and refugees is mitigated chiefly—and perhaps only—by the astonishing incompetence of its drafting and construction.”

Normally, courts would give deference to the executive branch on questions of a national security EO like this. In this case that might not be the case.

I don’t think this incompetence in drafting the order was a mistake on Trump’s part. Trump knew if he asked those agencies to review it, they would raise all kind of objections. They are almost all still staffed by Obama appointees after all. So Trump just pushed it through without review, knowing it might well be overturned by the courts. Trump doesn’t care if the US Supreme court overturns it. It was just a political stunt anyway. Having the courts overturn is a plus in Trump’s war on the courts.

I’m not sure Trump understands that this EO strengthens the hand of ISIS and makes it harder for moderate Muslim nations to fight ISIS. Trump was ISIS’s favored candidate. Trump is doing exactly what ISIS wants. Elections have consequences.

  18. The incompetence just keeps on coming. On Friday after the executive order was issues, DHS, which is implementing the EO, produced guidelines to enforce it. Those guidelines said the EO did not apply to green card holders. According to press reports on Friday night Steve Bannon ordered DHS to include green card holders in the exclusion. (What is Steve Bannon’s job? I thought he was a presidential adviser. How can he be giving DHS orders? Did Steve Bannon really just advise Trump to order DHS to apply the order to green card holders?)

Today Reince Priebus said that the order does not apply to green card holders. It is unclear who decided that. Maybe Priebus decided it. Maybe John Kelly, the head of DHS, decided it. Maybe Trump decided it. Maybe they just all realized how bad the green card ban looked, but neither of the bullies, Trump and Bannon, wanted to be seen backing down so they sent Priebus out to announce it.

  19. Lion,
Do you remember the days when you could arrive at an airport 20 minutes before a flight and board without any problem? I do and I’m only in my early 30s. Instead, we thought this was too easy and we allowed mass Muslim migration.

Seriously, Muslim identity wasn’t even a thing 15 years ago. They were basically a group isolated to Dearborn, MI, Paterson, NJ, Brooklyn, NY and Falls Church, VA. Now, just 15 years later, they are a key component of American identity.

Muslim immigration is just a mass jobs programs for the welfare agencies, public administration, SJWs and DHS. However, it’s much worse in Europe than it is here.

  21. mikeca —

Trump just negotiated a far better refugee solution, where Saudi Arabia, which has done jack until now, makes a huge safe zone for the refugees at Saudi Arabia’s dime.

This helps way more Americans while keeping America safe.

  22. It makes a lot of sense to restrict travel from those countries. Trump has vowed to work with Putin to stomp ISIS. When that happens, there will be thousands former fighters who have been radicalized and trained leaving the theater and trying to get into western countries.

  23. My cousin, a big shot lawyer, is totally against the travel ban. I never saw him so passionate. He is frequently posting on Facebook, including a post expressing how proud he is of the airport protesters.

I could not be more different than my cousin. I live this ban and want it to go much further. A Muslim ban was my #1 (of many) reasons I voted for Trump. My cousin is part of the elite and thinks like and elitist. I live a much more prole lifestyle and think more like one, which I consider a good thing when it comes to anything political.
