Why is Trump evil but not Bill Clinton?

Randomly pissed off at Frank Bruni for calling Trump’s “Make America great again” slogan “darkly coded” and “dopily elementary.” (It’s random because Trump haters have been saying similar about Trump and his slogan for the last year.)

In Bill Clinton’s first inaugural address he repeated again and again his promise to “renew America.” I don’t see how “renew America” is in any way fundamentally different than “make America great again.” Or different than Warren Harding’s famous “return to normalcy” slogan.

Candidates promising to return America to something that was better before the guy or party they are running against took over comes from the standard political playbook that has been used for the last two hundred years.

There’s a clip on YouTube somewhere with Bill Clinton in the 90s saying “make America great again”. I guess Trump haters wont accuse Trump of plagiarism in this case.

Notice with liberals its all about “code words” and “dark”!!!

Bruni also hates Trump because Trump represents the evil White America “out there”. Bruni is a gay guy writing for a left wing Jewish dominated New York paper. They hate the “White….out there”.

Of course they also hate the “White nearby” in Staten Island and wherever the Jewish proles congregate. Borough Park?

If Obama had used “make America great again” instead of “hope and change” they would have loved it.

They would have said it referred to the idealism of Kennedy, the civil rights movement, the feminist era agenda of the 70s etc.

Typical passive aggressive bitchiness of liberal women, gay guys and low t White dorks.

Sulzberger’s mother was of mostly English and Scottish origin and his father was of Jewish origin (both Ashkenazi and Sephardic).[3] His parents divorced when he was 5 years old. Sulzberger was raised in his mother’s Episcopalian faith; however, he no longer observes the religion.[4]

      • It’s that you are ridiculously oversensitive on this topic.

I’m Jewish and I can clearly see the vast overrepresentation of Jews amongst the Left’s media figures. I think that Vox is like 90% Jewish. The names and faces on the sidebar of the main page at Slate are comical in how closely they resemble something you would have seen in Der Sturmer. And look at some of the names you see amongst the #NeverTrump intelligentsia: Bill Kristol, Ben Shapiro, Jonah Goldberg, John Podheretz, Jennifer Rubin.

Yes there are plenty of non Jewish leaders amongst both the Left and #NeverTrump and yes they are all vastly more powerful than Trump is, but Jews are greatly overrepresented amongst their ranks and their Jewish background almost certainly contributes to their passion for open borders and hostility towards all forms of populism. No need to get offended when people point it out, unless you feel like Jews should be immune from any and all criticism.

      • It’s proper to get offended because people point out overrepresentation of Jews on the Left as if there is some sort of worldwide conspiracy, ignoring the truth of HBD which causes Jews to be overrepresented in ALL fields where high IQ is required. Jews are only underrepresented among Christian groups (because Jews are not Christian) and Jew-hating groups (for obvious reasons).

Getting offended is fine but lashing out in the vulgar and over the top way that TUJ always does when this subject comes up is ridiculous. There are a lot of Jewish people here, including myself and the blog host, but only TUJ goes bonkers and starts launching personal attacks when somebody points how hostile secular American Jewish culture is to whites and how dominant Jews are amongst the Left wing media.

By the way, my position is that even if a single Jew had never set foot in America, the Left would be every bit as powerful and as loathsome as it currently is. In fact, I would even say that your rank in file American leftist Jew is *less* anti white than your rank and file Leftist white gentile.

Vox wasn’t part of the discussion. I pointed out the New York Times is run by an Episcopalian (even a Reform Synagogue wouldn’t consider Pinch Jr. Jewish unless he converted).

Rifleman was lying flat out. Do you disapprove of antisemitic lies going unchallenged?

And look at some of the names you see amongst the #NeverTrump intelligentsia: Bill Kristol, Ben Shapiro, Jonah Goldberg, John Podheretz, Jennifer Rubin.

All of whom were as incompetent fighting Trump as they have been the Democratic Party. It’s interesting that such a weak collection of columnists were still able to outmaneuver the even more pathetic paleo-right for decades.

There are a lot of Jewish people here, including myself and the blog host, but only TUJ goes bonkers and starts launching personal attacks when somebody points how hostile secular American Jewish culture is to whites and how dominant Jews are amongst the Left wing media.

Non-ethnocentrism is an unfortunate condition of too many American Jews, including many of those who post here.

But that doesn’t mean the antisemites have anything of value to add to politics.

By the way, my position is that even if a single Jew had never set foot in America, the Left would be every bit as powerful and as loathsome as it currently is. But facts are facts.

If those are the facts then it doesn’t matter what percent of the media is Jewish because liberal gentiles would take their place and do basically the same things.

And btw, the owner of the Economist, Lady De Rothschild, – who has wrongly been labeled a Jew by Steve Sailer – is 100% Anglo-Saxon:

She studied at Pomona College and Columbia Law School, where she volunteered for the US Senate campaign of Democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan.[6] She also studied international law at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.[9]

They need to be purged; at the right they’re going from one media catastrophe like the (((Daily Shoah))) to another Milo is going to have his contract with Simon & Shuster for a book about the altright rescinded when S&S figure out the altright is going down in flames.

But the alt-right is not going to be purged to your specifications. Not shouldn’t be, won’t.

First of all, the antisemites provide a lot of the energy behind the movement. There are an awful lot of annoying prominent SJWs who are Jewish, and sending them pictures of their kids in concentration camps is a great way to trigger annoying media liberals. Bothers you? It bothers me too. That just gets the Ricky Vaughns of the world even more excited. We’re an overclass that still thinks it’s an underclass…and it makes us fun to mock.

Second of all, *nobody CAN purge the alt-right*. There’s no Bill Buckley to kick out Joe Sobran and Pat Buchanan anymore. The whole media landscape’s too decentralized. National Review trained all their guns on Trump and failed. Breitbart outflanked Fox and now has their old king in the White House. When Trump blows up someone will outflank them. Hopefully it won’t be the Daily Stormer.

As Mag says above, the issue is 100% about immigration. This can be proved simply: Do you know any Hillary voters? Ask them if they would accept Hillary or Obama as President in exchange for an end to all immigration, legal or illegal, and they will, to a man, answer no. I have tried this multiple times myself.

Maybe it is because I’ve lived in California since graduating from college, maybe it is because I’ve lived in silicon valley for the last 35 years, but I just see the immigration issue totally differently.

Immigrants are what has made America great. Immigrants are not a random sample of people living in the country where they were born. It takes guts and determination to leave your family and move to the other side of the earth to start a new life. Immigrants face huge obstacles getting here. Those obstacles can be both physical and bureaucratic. Only the most ambitious and determined make it.

Through legal immigration we have attracted the best and brightest from around the world. Legal immigration is root of American exceptionalism.

Ending legal immigration will make America ordinary, like every other country.

      • “Immigrants are what has made America great.”

Immigrants clamor to get in, because they see America as a better place to be than their own country, and with very few exceptions are coming for no other reason than to improve their own standard of living. Wanting to have more and better stuff is pretty much Human Nature 101, considered praiseworthy by our ruling elites when practiced by foreigners barging in, denounced as “greed” when practiced by middle class Americans.

When polled on the matter, most Americans want illegal immigration stopped, and less legal immigration. And yes, I am aware that there are polls that show different results, but those polls are usually commissioned by groups that have an axe to grind, and are worded so as to elicit the desired outcome. Polls that do not produce the desired “public opinion” never see the light of day; the group paying for the opinion poll pays the polling company and then quietly discards the results.

Anyway, if letting fewer people in is a mistake, it’s one that is corrected easily enough, isn’t it? But if letting in too many people and/or people who will have too much difficulty assimilating is a mistake – which I believe it is – then how do we fix that? We can’t, we’re stuck with the results.

        That is so much baloney.

        https://www.brookings.edu/opinions/the-typical-male-u-s-worker-earned-less-in-2014-than-in-1973/

America got to the moon in 1969 and was utterly exceptional then, outclassing the world in all respects, with better wealth, higher wages, and a longer life expectancy than any other country on Earth, by an enormous margin. That was after a near-freeze in immigration that lasted for many decades.

America is now far less exceptional than it was, being heavily in debt, not leading in education, or life expectancy or many other well-being measures.

For every legal immigrant Google employee there are 100 legal immigrants with far less to offer. In fact legal immigrants on average have far higher use of welfare than America as a whole.

MikeCA, your Silicon Valley perspective is utterly distorted as you look at a small elite group selected for high IQ.

But for what its worth, even with regards to the tech sector, you are wrong. America was leading the world 40 years ago, and the American lead in tech 40 years ago was far bigger than it is now. In fact, America trails in many areas of tech. Back then, there was no area of technology where America can in second.

Pre-1850 is the only one of the periods when there were no illegal immigrants. There were no immigration laws at all. Anyone who got here was here legally. Totally open borders.

The first immigration restriction was the Chinese Exclusion Act (1882). That law created the first illegal immigrants. More general immigration restrictions did not happen until the 1920s.

In 1910 immigrants were 14.7% of the population. The 1920 restrictions combined with the great depression and WW II caused immigration to decrease. By 1970 the immigrant percentage of the population was down to 4.7%. Today it is 13.5%, very similar to the percentage in the period between 1870-1910.

      • “When polled on the matter, most Americans want illegal immigration stopped, and less legal immigration.”

Illegal immigration can never be completely stopped. Have drug laws stopped illegal drug use?

What can be done are things like require E-Verify for all workers. There still will be an underground cash economy. That will be harder to eliminate, but it could be greatly reduced with vigorous enforcement, including against employers. This has not happened because big business screams bloody murder about it. They will claim the regulation will be costly, but what this really means is they will have to pay higher wages for legal workers.

The Trump administration looks pretty business friendly. I expect them to build the wall and not require universal E-Verify. The wall is a way of distracting attention and making their supporters believe they are doing something about illegal immigration without upsetting any of the big business supporters that like low wage illegal immigrants. I would be pleasantly surprised if Trump actually pushes universal E-Verify through.

My personal opinion is legal immigration policy gives too big a preference to extended family members and not enough to people who can contribute to the economy. I know there are companies abusing H-1b visas. I’ve interviewed people that were almost being held prisoner by their employers. I’m all in favor of ending H-1b visa abuse, not allowing low salaries for people on H-1bs, and making sure employers are really looking for Americans. I’m not opposed to reducing immigration quotas and re-orienting them more towards people that want to work, create new small businesses and invest in America.

I am opposed to ending all legal immigration, which was Otis’s question.

If you are referring to my post, which is not completely clear, I am definitely not trolling. The inscription on the Statue of Liberty says:

      • “Pre-1850 is the only one of the periods when there were no illegal immigrants. There were no immigration laws at all. Anyone who got here was here legally. Totally open borders.”

Both right and wrong. Immigration was heavily controlled during this period by restricting maritime privileges. Only ships coming from certain ports and carrying certain cargos could land at American ports and this was regulated by treaties with the various kingdoms most of which didn’t want to see their workforce fleeing to the New World. If you needed the permission of the King to leave and the King didn’t want you to and the King had arranged a deal with the American government to control passenger transport, guess what? You didn’t come to America. In effect, the borders were regulated as much as they ever have been unless you could get on a pirate ship I guess.

    • Leftists regard the 1950s with horror because they view it as repressive. McCarthy was conducting his witch hunts. Blacks were discriminated against. Homosexuals were closeted and had to enter their bars through trap doors. Women weren’t liberated and had to get back alley abortions. Children were taught that the United States was better than the Soviet Union. Much of television and movies were G-rated and wholesome. There were no safe spaces. People actually spoke English. The country was swarming with white people. Oh my God, it was a nightmare!

Trump accused the first black president of having illegitimate birthright and has set out to rebuke all of his policies. The left is genuinely frightened by this because they realize the subconscious desires it truly represents..an unapologetic return to dominance by traditional white America and its founding values.

Government: Endless amount of leaks from unelected civil service so Trump can’t get anything done. MSM blows each leak out of proportion, calls Trump Hitler racist facist.

Courts: Challenge every nationalist/anti-GC court order using shitlib judges on the west coast, which will be affirmed by the 9th circuit.

Protests: MSM attention on Soros-paid protests in GC cities, vastly overestimating the size and impact of the crowds.

Congress: Obstruct Trump maximally on everything, regardless of the issue. Push for impeachment.

Censorship: Use Google, Twitter, Facebook, etc to censor conservatives more and more.

Attack Trump family/allies: You see their attacks on Ivanka brand now and also on Barron, also on Bannon and now on Flynn. Expect these attacks to expand. Echoes of how Pablo Escobar was taken down (if you can’t get at Pablo, destroy his allies and friends).

The Leftists of our time were once referred to by Metternich as Boutique Liberalés; in America they are now referred to as limousine liberals; in Europe, champagne socialists. These labels describe their class well enough, but say nothing about their ideology nor how their ideology relates to Marxism. Are American Progressives – and their analogues, British Fabian Socialists and European Union Supranationalists – equivalent to Mao, Stalin, the Kim dynasty, Kruschev, and Lenin?

Of the terms proposed to mark the ideological boundary separating the Progressive West from the Cold War East, e.g, Globalism and Cultural Marxism, none are satisfactory.

‘Globalism’ cannot be the correct term because the scope of revolution sought by Soviet Russia was as global in nature as are the ambitions of Western “Globalists”.

Cultural Marxism fails in its role of distinguisher by failing to distinguish: If Western Leftists are Cultural Marxists and Eastern bloc leftists were not Cultural Marxists, then what to make of Eastern bloc projects such as Mao’s Cultural Revolution? Was cultural Maoism cultural conservatism? Cultural libertarianism? If it was anything besides radical cultural Leftism it would come as news to Chairman Mao. It would be met with such incredulity that anyone who suggested his cultural initiatives were conservative in any way would have guaranteed for themselves a ticket to a Maoist “re-education center” where they would be taught Mao is not in fact Chiang Kaishek.

Soviet era Communists were also “Cultural Marxists”; as a definition it is useless because it defines nothing.

But if the difference has not been adequately expressed, there lingers the sense of a qualitative divide between Western and Eastern Liberalism.

Is what is suggested by intuition real or a false signal?

By any standard Mao was a “Cultural Marxist”. And yet he would be as amazed – perhaps more amazed – by a Progressive of today who insisted there are at least 52 genders as he would if he met a space alien.

      • “Nah, they think Jews are behind all the leftist problems.”

Simply false. Guys like Roissy, Sailer and Vox Day are not PC at all on the subject of Jews. They are ultra critical of Jews and put a lot of the blame for open-borders/globalism on Jews/the Jews.

But they don’t blame all the world’s problems on Jews and at the end of the day they don’t hate Jews, or even really dislike them that much. They just want Jews to stop doing some of the things they are currently doing.

The Alt-Righters who do hate Jews work backwards: they hate Jews so they proceed to blame the Jews for everything. But they don’t seriously believe that Jews are behind the problems they rail against. As Zionist leader Ze’ev Jabotinisky said: “We are not disliked because we are blamed, we are blamed because we are disliked.”

I really do feel that the anti-Semitic stuff is growing. People don’t realize it because it’s happening very slowly, but if you compare today to 10 years ago, you can see it.

        So what?

The current ”Heartiste” might not even be the original Roissy, Vox Day is a nobody.

But they don’t blame all the world’s problems on Jews and at the end of the day they don’t hate Jews, or even really dislike them that much. They just want Jews to stop doing some of the things they are currently doing.

Who are hypocrites for not telling gentiles “to stop doing some of the things they are currently doing” – such as the fact the French & Germans invented Communism (minus the Industrialization and specifiying class warfare as proletarian).

If French and German Liberals aren’t being blamed as an ethnic group for Liberalism neither should Jews.

Jacobin ideology was much like Proletarian Socialist ideology, the latter of which reached its culmination with the Russian Revolution. Just as Proletarian Socialist theory resembled Jacobin theory the path of the Russian Revolution closely followed that of its French predecessor, but for two exceptions: Industrial policy and class.

Industrial economics was ignored by the French Revolutionaries simply because heavy industry either did not exist in late 18th century France, or whatever industry there was did so in only a very embryonic form compared to what it would be by the second half of the 19th century. In the absence of factories to nationalize, the Jacobins instead nationalized the wealth of the Church and aristocracy with the instrument of l’Assignants. But if industry had existed, French radicals would have been sure to prelude the Bolsheviks by bringing those valuable assets into their hands.

Likewise, the class war tenets of the Jacobins and their allies in 1789 were not developed to the extent they would be by the Russian Revolution. In the then quasi-Medieval organization of French society the middle class was grouped with the working class under the Third Estate. It was because both the middle and working classes felt their rights were denied to them by the clergy and nobility that the middle class joined the proletariat in radicalism. The participation of the French middle class is one of the facets of the Revolution making it unique among all others because it is the only one that won the broad favor of the middle class.

After the middle class had been awarded greater property rights it never again as a class became radicalized. Correctly anticipating the middle class was pacified for good, Marx, Engels, and other Proletarian theorists like Kroptokin, Dzietgen and Proudhon specifically defined their Socialist movements as proletarian.

But for industrial and class theory, the First French Republic was very much the Soviet Union of the 18th century. This is true to such a degree that the French Revolution deserves to be labeled pre-Industrial Communism; its initiatives and subsequent consequences confirm this conclusion –

      • No, there’s a lot more of it. Specific writers are getting a lot more antisemitic–you can see it with Sailer (who would rarely bring up Jews 10 years ago) or Heartiste (who may or may not be the same guy as Roissy) or Roosh (who was mocking Nazis a few years ago). You can find, on Vox Day’s site, a very civil conversation he had with Jonah Goldberg of NRO where they talk about why the Holocaust didn’t happen in Italy. Even Derb’s started, lately–and he was notorious in that scene for not being antisemitic and wrote about it a few times.

There’s something going on behind the scenes. I don’t know if there’s some antisemitic billionaire throwing money around or Andrew Anglin just got organized. You know, I remember one of these lefty Jewish writers from Russia–I forget if it was Ioffe or Gessen–saying a lot of the alt-right Twitter accounts were originally Russian accounts attacking Ukrainians. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if the FSB were involved somehow–Putin himself isn’t personally antisemitic, from what I’ve read, but he’d no doubt use any tool that came to hand.

Roissy was a much better site. When it was reborn as Heartiest it went down in quality and obtained a totally different commentariat.

There used to be a lot of nice interesting commentators who balanced out Rossy’s cynicism, but the site is about 60% jew bashing now by content, so not as entertaining as when it was mostly game and anecdotes.

But Roosh’s stuff went downhill to. It was much better when it was anecdotes versus ideology, which is what it has become. Roosh’s stuff as DCBachelor was light hearted and shared the spirit of the time, which was when it was still not too difficult to get laid through club culture. The world has hardened since then and Roosh accurately reflects this, so it’s not all his fault.

Also a lot of the new generation PUAs just suck. It’s like they are boys who never grew up, or they have no unique personality, they are all just Krauser/RSD clones. Millennials are shit. • I think anti-semitism was more popular on the alt-lite (it was always ubiquitous in what’s now called the alt-right) in the 2007-2012 period during Ron Paul’s campaigns for President. But it was usually pretty mild and focused on Israel and “neocons,” and usually wasn’t open (how dare the neocons smear anti-Zionists like me as antisemites?).

My impression is that it was at a fairly low ebb before Trump declared but then when ~95% of Jewish GOP pundits became fanatical #NeverTrumpers it became way uglier. Where previously they just saw “Israel-firsters” (for opposing Ron Paul), now, with their even more hysterical opposition to a candidate not even arguably anti-Israel, anti-semitic or anti-war (for non-insane definitions of “anti-war”), they appeared more like an irredeemably hostile force.

There’s some chicken and egg here with the concentration camp memers on Twitter; I think the responsibility goes 50/50ish.

Another phenomenon that I’d hypothesize is driving more anti-semitic content is the ongoing purge of rightists from “respectable” occupations. A few years ago even Sailer could still occasionally get published in non Taki/Unz outlets, now he’s entirely dependent on reader donations, as are any other edgy pundits with known identities. I strongly suspect that anti-semitic readers are among the most generous donors.

Something to keep in mind is that Sailer, the PUAs, Vox, Spencer and the Nazis combined aren’t 0.5% of the phenomenon that is Breitbart, which is possibly the most philo-semitic gentile-run news organization in human history. Ideas that were only found in obscure blogs 10 years ago are now quasi-mainstream, so the audiences for fringey blogs are necessarily going to get more fringey than a decade earlier.

And don’t forget, until Trump, the GOP has been as strongly pro-immigration as the Democrats. Reagan was a disaster.

My personal theory is that it is not a coincidence that we opened the flood gates in the early 1960s – right about the time when blacks were getting angry and starting to demand a bigger piece of the pie. No business owner wants to hire blacks, nor did we want blacks to have too much political power, so we imported an army of Hispanics and Asians – better behaved, harder working, and they dilute the numbers so that blacks, despite outbreeding whites, still haven’t broken the 15% barrier as a percentage of the population.

  18. “Why is Trump evil but not Bill Clinton?”

What one calls “evil” is merely a reflection of how they feel. When fundamental beliefs and values are violated people have a visceral reaction which causes them to label whatever caused it “evil”. So when liberals call something evil they’re really just throwing a tantrum over hurt feelings. I sometimes call things “evil” too. But it’s different because I understand it.

Trump’s just spent the last 16 months fighting the entire global/globalist power structure without yielding to the incalculable pressures against him using only his own personal and financial resources on behalf of what he views as the common good. I can’t think of something more removed from Bill Clinton.

      • But he hasn’t used a dime of “his own personal and financial resources”. He used other peoples’ money to finance the campaign, cleverly got a huge amount of free advertising, and he is currently billing the US taxpayer ridiculous amounts of money so that Melania can hang out in New York, he can take trips to Florida, his sons can promote the Trump brand. etc. And put Goldman Sachs guys in his cabinet, and an oil man in the State Department – the most “globalist” industries of all. Trump is a pure huckster. Why intelligent people are desperate enough to let themselves be persuaded by an obvious con is the interesting question, and probably testifies to the damage globalization is doing to people’s psyches.

    • I think Trump’s a con-man myself. I just think he was the lesser of two evils back in November, I think it would be beneficial to the country to have an immigration break of a few decades, and I think he’s most likely to do that by shifting the Overton window, as they say. And the professional-managerial-banker-PC-globalist overclass needed a kick in the crotch. Now when MTV tries to run an anti-white commercial, they get deluged with people saying ‘This is why Trump won’. They’re talking about ditching identity politics or at least dialing it down on the left. This is good, just as the left going down in flames in the sixties with the hippies cut short a lot of their anti-Americanism.

But, yeah. Trump steaks? Trump University? America needs Bernie Sanders with his bad hair showing up with posters of Trump’s tweet saying he won’t attack Medicare. There will always be a left and a right. The question is what left and right we are going to have.

Like Lion, I hate censorship. I would rather kill them (the anti-semites), then censor them. However, I’m less sensitive to mild anti-semites because I grew up among realy vicious ones and also because there are a lot of all sorts of Jewish nogoodnicks that are justifiably hateful. I think that if I weren’t Jewish, I would be an anti-semite, most likely. If I dislike gypsies (and who doesn’t?), why wouldn’t I dislike Jews? It’s like the Jews are on the top, the gypsies are on the bottom and the rest of European people are in the middle. Look, the only solution is for the Jewish people is to move to Israel. Millions of Jews roaming around the world is not a good idea. Jews are too smart, they dominate everything. The more the Jews were oppressed, the more they evolved and adapted to thrive under oppression. They are a different species now. Maybe one day the Jews will evolve to a level where they whipe out all anti-semites? No, bad idea. Anti-semites helped make us into who we are today. In the evutionary sense anti-semitism is very beneficial. Better to be an underdog then a top dog. A Jew can never rest on the laurels. If he does, he perishes. I think that just like a Jew is eternal, so is anti-semitism. All our enemies have bitten the dust, but we, a tiny people, are flourishing. Let’s just remind ourselves who those enemies were: Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Greece, Rome, Crusaders, Spanish Empire, Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany.
