Girls S06E06 “Full Disclosure”

Several commenters demanded that I write about Sunday’s episode of Girls.

This is primarily an Elijah episode. Hannah and Marnie also appear. Not appearing in this episode at all: Adam, Jessa, Ray, Shoshanna. Shoshanna hasn’t had any role in this season since the WEMUN mixer. Did Lena Dunham grow bored with the character?

Given that Elijah is more likable than any of the female leads, even though he’s gay, it was mostly an enjoyable episode, and I even liked the sassy thick black girl whom Elijah befriends at the White Men Can’t Jump audition.

Dill, Elijah’s ex-boyfriend and TV-news-personality, returns for an appearance. A poorly written appearance. Dill as an emotional wreck is just dumb and not believable and we’ve already had enough of this with Marnie’s ex-husband Desi. And I choose to ignore the whole Dill wanted to buy a “white baby” scandal. Luckily, Elijah told Dill to get lost, so presumably that’s the last we will see of him.

Hannah talks, by phone, with Paul Luis, the surfing instructor who’s the father of her child. Paul Luis wants nothing to do with a baby. Hannah cries afterwards. What the hell did she expect? Of course you have to wonder about the bad advice of other characters on the show urging Hannah to call him.

Allison Williams who plays Marnie looks very anorexic. It’s not pleasant.

  1. A recurring question for me is whether the actresses playing the girls are as unpleasant as the characters they play. That seems to be the case with Lena Dunham, and, considering that the other three are rich girls who got their roles through nepotism or friendship with Lena, rather than working their way up in acting, it’s probably the case with the rest of them too.

And the skinnier Allison Williams gets, the more you wonder why any of the male characters would want to deal with her, on top of her unpleasant personality.

Regarding your summary, Elijah didn’t blow off Dillard ultimately. He invited him to eat pizza with him in his bedroom. And Dillard seeking Elijah out made sense, and was different from Desi’s breakdown. Getting essentially accused of racism would be traumatic for a public figure used to adulation. That made Dillard realize how alone he was, despite the sexual partners who value him for his fame and his money. So he went to Elijah, his one boy toy who actually seemed to care about him.

The audition scenes with Elijah were good, particularly the physical comedy when the basketballs come out. It was also funny that his picked a song from the musical within the cancelled TV show about musicals, Smash.

  2. …sassy thick black girl

No way a middle aged Jewish nerd like you should ever use the word “thick” in this context.

Fatty, tubby, blob, porker, typically chubby, overweight etc

  3. For me the most noticeable part of this episode was Dunham getting totally on board the anti-white bandwagon. Every time somebody mentioned “white baby” they practically spit the words, as if someone white wanting a white baby was the most disgusting thing in the world.

It was fun having a big Elijah episode, and he’s very entertaining. I guess this was his really big sheeew before the series ends. Though I didn’t like how it resolved with him just jumping into the sack with Dill. But at least we didn’t get any man-on-man scenes. The sassy black girl was fun, but also an obvious response to the show being called “racist” by SJW loons.

No Ray/Shosh was again disappointing. I guess they will get their episode soon, but not next week. Clearly, the previews show an “Adam wants to get back with Hannah” episode. Ugh. Absurd. I’m sure he’s going to be all “oh yas, I be happy to raise me anudda man’s bebbe!” because in the psycho world of Lena Dunham, why wouldn’t a man happily raise another man’s baby? I was glad, though, that Paul-Louis was shown as the “who cares about you, pregnant white girl” immigrant rat that he is. Though of course the show would never put it in that context, but it’s perfectly obvious.

Marnie is def looking like heroin chic. Very bad. This is kind of an annoying slow website, but gives you some decent comparison photos. Man, she was HOT earlier in the show. I’d kind of forgotten that.

The stuff about Marnie’s parents giving her all the fake jewelry: more anti-white-ism. You notice that WASPy Marnie is the one targeted for all the bad stuff. And her mother is shown as basically white trash. What next, does Marnie end up living in a double-wide and wearing a MAGA hat?

Only three episodes to go, friends.

    • It is not heroin chic.

Very rich women in much of the USA really do try to get that thin. This is most evident in Manhattan. There must be some men who like it. Maybe they are thinking long term. Caloric restriction slows aging. She may lose her T&A now but will have more energy and look younger at 50. Maybe that is a future plot, she is always working out this season and “ana” can manifest itself in normal diet but extreme exercise.

I also see New Marnie looking skinny women in France, Central Italy, and Catalonia where women are not just thin but tend to have slighter builds than neighboring countries.

  4. From SATC to Girls, the decline in human character and decent values is very noticeable.

1990s – subverting convention but still remaining within the realm of convention
2010s – totally ignoring convention and previous civilizational standards and acting like complete random animals

What show will HBO come up with next that is even worse than this?

    • In SATC, when Charlotte was thinking of adopting a Chinese baby, her rich WASP mother-in-law told her, “I don’t much like Cantonese food.“.

  5. “Allison Williams who plays Marnie looks very anorexic. It’s not pleasant.”

she’s scary looking with her weight loss

  6. In the previous episode Hannah states that she wants her baby to be either a girl (so she can be raised to be a slut like Hannah herself) or the gayest boy, like Elijah. Disgusting. Imagine any sane, normal woman wishing that for her son. Thus, feminism wends its destructive way through our culture.

These women are so repulsive, cats wouldn’t even want to live with them, so they eventually latch onto a pet gay. Instead of “Girls” the show should be titled “Fag-hags”.

  7. Lion, do you watch The Americans still?

My favorite show right now. I noticed the plot can move slowly so I suggest watching 2-3 episodes at a time. It is a rare show where I like every character and plot line. It is a fun time warp to around the time I was born too.

TV shows actually made in the early 80s are mostly awful. I think Maude, the Jeffersons, and Dallas were typical top shows of the era.
