Second blog

I’m experimenting with the idea of putting some of my posts into a second blog. Although I think I may have tried this before and failed.

The other blog is for posts that are not related to HBD, politics, Donald Trump, social class stuff, or otherwise are politically incorrect. Thus the reason for doing this should be obvious: the desire to reach a broader audience and have greater influence. However, I think that blogging is dying, so there probably isn’t any audience to reach.

Please feel free to comment on the other blog, but obey the following rules:

(1) No comments that those unfamiliar with HBD would consider to be racist.
(2) No hints that there’s another blog called Lion of the Blogosphere. On the other blog, my name is “Evan.”
(3) Off-topic comments of the type I allow here are not allowed on the other blog.

Here’s the link to the second blog, go there and read my first post: https://evaninny.wordpress.com/

Yes, the name for the blog was inspired by Roissy. But it’s definitely not a “game” blog.

OK, I think I am convinced by commenters that a second blog won’t work.

Jobs and class

For people who forgot that I previously posted this (but here I add some extra categories, hewing closely to Paul Fussell’s class categories):

Poor people: Don’t work at all.

Proles: Work crappy jobs that are injurious to their health like construction or coal mining.

Middle class: Boring meaningless cubicle jobs.

Upper-middle class: Boring and meaningless jobs (but less boring and meaningless than middle-class jobs) with a private office which pay better (in some cases a lot better) than middle-class jobs.

Upper class: CEO, hedge fund manager, etc.

Top out of sight: Work that is meaningful and enriches their lives, making them better people while helping others, and achieving what Abraham Maslow called self-actualization.

Class X: Trying to self-actualize like the TOOS class, but living in poverty and unable to afford to have children.

17-year-old kid becomes pro Overwatch player despite his parents

Liked this article. His parents, not surprisingly, didn’t like the idea of him playing Overwatch all the time, so they tried to cut off his internet.

I’m glad the kid was able to persevere and pursue self-actualization from playing Overwatch. Why should Overwatch be treated differently than training for the Olympics. I bet most parents would be a lot more supportive if their kid forwent college to train for the Olympics, even though 99% of Olympic athletes make no money from it. On the other hand, the Olympics probably look a lot better on a college application being a pro Overwatch player.

I guess the counterargument is that even if the kid makes a living for a few years from being a pro Overwatch player, his reflexes will be shot by the time he’s 30 and then he has no self-actualizing career path.

My current Overwatch skill rank is only 548. I think that puts me in the bottom 1% of players. I am too old to play videogames.

Nude George Washington in the NY Times

Some people say that there’s nothing in the NY Times worth reading, but the article about a nude statue of George Washington demonstrates that there’s a lot of good stuff in there.

Extreme disappointment in Trump’s tax plan

Read this article at the NY Times.

This is not populism, this is standard Republican huge tax cuts for the richest value transferers.

The biggest giveaways to the super rich are:

1. Eliminating the estate tax.

2. 15% “business tax,” which sounds like it opens up huge loopholes because everyone will try to change their “ordinary income” into “business income” and get a huge tax cut. Even if it doesn’t open up any loopholes (unlikely that), I don’t see why the lawyers who are partners in the law firm should pay 15% tax while their working-stiff employees making a lot less money have to pay 25% or 35% tax.

When he was campaigning, Trump said he would eliminate the carried interest loophole, but under the new Trump plan, instead of super-rich hedge fund managers paying 20% capital gains tax, their tax rate is actually LOWERED to 15% “business income” tax.

3. Top tax rate lowered 39.6 to 35%. For those who can’t figure out how to take advantage of the new “business tax” loophole. Remember that you need at least $418,401 of income to be in the 39.6% bracket, so that’s a tax cut for only the very rich.

It’s so unfortunate that we are stuck with this bozo in the White House instead of a true populist like Marine Le Pen.

Looks bad for France

There’s no way that Marine Le Pen can win the runoff election next month. She didn’t even beat Macron in the first round, and now all the forces of French propaganda are telling people they must vote against against Le Pen. Every losing candidate, no matter how much they hate Macron, are loudly saying to vote for him.

So France is going to get a President fully committed to open borders and who praises Angela Merkel’s policy of unlimited immigration of Muslim refugees.

Emmanuel Macron’s wife 25 years older than him

Weird stuff. She was his school teacher when he was 15 years old.

Marine Le Pen

Too close to call if Marie Le Pen will have more votes than Macron, but both will be in run-off election. Need more time to digest.

Erin Moran’s sad end

Erin Moran, aka Richie Cunningham’s little sister Joannie, died from a heroin overdose, at age 56, while living in a trailer park in Indiana.

What a sad end. From famous teen actress to heroin-addict trailer-park trash.

Latest update from CNN: she died from cancer, and no illegal narcotics were found at her trailer.

Bill O’Reilly

I never understood the appeal. He’s an obnoxious interviewer. He doesn’t actually interview anyone, he just lectures his guests and doesn’t let them say anything. Why even bother to have guests? He could just do a monologue.

Some on the right may be inclined to think that there’s nothing to the charges against him. Since he’s on the right and not a liberal, he must be a good guy, and good guys don’t bad stuff. Sorry, that’s not the way the world works. There’s way too much smoke going on here for there not to be any fire. It looks like Bill O’Reilly is just a really obnoxious individual. He knew the way to properly behave in a white-collar work environment, but he used his status as the biggest star at Fox to do whatever the hell he wanted. If some regular schmuck working in a cubicle did that stuff, he would have been fired the first time anyone reported a problem.
