Why isn’t Trump releasing his tax returns?

Three possible reasons:

1. He thinks that what’s in there is politically damaging.
2. He’s afraid that if thousands of people who hate him go over his returns with a fine tooth comb, they’ll find wrongdoing in there that has previously been overlooked by IRS auditors.
3. The same reasons why Obama never released his birth certificate for years.

A reminder about #3:

For years and years, Obama-hating people believed that Obama must be hiding something very damaging. Why else wouldn’t he release his birth certificate? Obama made up a bunch of stupid and not-believable excuses for why he couldn’t release it. But then, it was finally released (proving that the excuses were fake) and there was nothing worth seeing.

Trump could be doing the same head-fake as Obama.

No, the reason he won’t release is because he’s hiding a bribe made in unmarked roubles he took directly from Vladimir Putin that he declared on his 1040. – NY Times Comment Section

  1. It’s likely the second reason. A birth certificate is rather black and white; it simply states where you were born. A tax return can be scrutinized for hours.

    • Hours? LOL. My old boss’s tax returns for one year took up an entire file cabinet drawer. I imagine Trump’s would take up the entire file cabinet.

  2. That’s actually a good point, and who better should have learned that trolling lesson than Trump? Obama trolled about his birth certificate for years because it helped make his opponents look crazy, and I think a lot of the birthers were crazy. It was a dumb issue to fighting after inauguration day.

So Trump may want to make his tax returns a crazed conspiracy on the left.

Then again, maybe he has some stuff there that he wants to keep a lid on, but that’s hard to imagine. Considering how political Obama managed to turn the IRS, I imagine if there was anything really damaging in his tax records it would have been on the front page of the New York Times long before election day.

I doubt Trump learned anything about trolling from Obama, more the other way around. That said, this could be a master troll, but I think Trump really has some stuff in there that would be embarrassing. Not that I care.

Of course, the Lion didn’t want to talk about old novelty songs.

But with war looming on the Korean peninsula the Lion felt he had to make personal sacrifices.

        Why?

Because the Lion is an American patriot. If blogging about old novelty songs is what his country demands of him during periods of great crisis then that is what the Lion will do.

      • The alt right is only showing what we already knew: they are a bunch of lunatics with 0 influence outside of social media.

People voted from Trump for 2 reasons: 1. They hate Democrats 2. They hate immigrants. Nobody cares about trade, Wall Street, Syria, Iran or whatever other issues the Alt Right is obsessed with. In fact, the reason that the Alt Right went precisely no where for the last 20 some years was their fixation with isolationism.

Trump did not make use of the Alt Right, the Alt Right made use of Trump. They took Trump’s victory as a sign that they had some political relevance but their Palestine/Iran platform is just as irrelevant as it was in 1995. You can see similar results in Europe where the right wing parties did nothing until they stopped talking about the Palestinians and Iran and instead remodeled themselves as anti immigrant parties.

Surely your commenters pointed to the recent vintage video from the sheriff Joe investigation showing it is a forgery. Why do you persist in making this assertion? My three explanations for your behavior: 1) ignorance, 2) to virtue signal that you are not on the lunatic fringe, 3) you have some special knowledge that the sheriff Joe vid is unreliable. • Some people claim that Obama’s birth certificate is clearly a photoshop forgery. They sound to me like they know what they’re talking about, but I’m open to the possibility that it’s all baloney.

But there was clearly some extremely weird stuff going on with Obama’s childhood. Shortly after Obama was born, mom Stanley, age 17 or 18, leaves her parents and “husband” back in Hawaii to go be a student in Washington state. Then, a little more than a year later when Barack Sr. leaves Hawaii, she comes back to Hawaii. Barack Jr. said his parents had an “improbable love”, but it looks improbable to me that there was any love involved. Hawaii wasn’t big enough for the both of them??

Young Barack spent a lot of time hanging out with Frank Marshall Davis, a black Communist, pornographer, and self-described “sex rebel”. What kind of people let their teen child (or grandchild, as in this case) hang out with a guy like that?

I think there are interesting and unusual things yet to be discovered about Barack Jr.

You don’t actually think Trump was convinced do you? Just not politically expedient to question the document. You are an anonymous blogger that doesn’t have to worry about getting votes, do really think questioning the birth certificate is a doxable offense?

Or you could just watch the video. You are computer literate. It’s apparent to anyone who takes the time to watch that the certificaye is forged from another woman’s document.

      • I also regarded the birth certificate stuff as kooky until I watched the video demonstrating the analysis. Due to my background I am extremely familiar with digital image manipulation, and I found the case that the birth certificate is a forgery quite compelling. Now whether that is relevant (Obama is still a citizen via his mother) I don’t weigh in on, but the fact that the veracity of the document is not analyzed at all is a crime.

        Panther of the Blogocube

        April 16, 2017 at 2:17 pm

      • Obama was not a citizen via his mother. She was too young to confer citizenship. That is why the birth certificate was such a big issue. Personally, I think the reason Obama balked at release was more about who was (or wasn’t) listed under “father” rather where he was born. With Trump it is probably a combination of his tax returns being absurdly complex and therefore open to massive scrutiny no matter how faithfully they were done and perhaps worry that they might suggest he is not as wealthy as he boasts.

Perhaps this would cause him to post in the comments under an alt: PoTB (in the PTKFGS universe that might be the title of this blog).

As far as place of birth not mattering, it certainly would for his claim to be a NATURAL BORN citizen. Cruzebots might disagree but many scholars of constitutional law would tell you that children of citizens born abroad are not “natural born” citizens. This would explain why BHO’s literary agent saw no problem with calling him Kenyan born, and BHO himself would have approved that description prior to him improbably becoming a POTUS candidate.

  5. 1. Tax return would show Trump is not as rich as he claims to be.

    2. Tax return would show who he owes money to. A real estate developer like Trump relies on borrowed money to finance projects. Most major US banks blacklisted Trump after the failure of his Atlantic City casinos. Since then Trump has had difficulty raising money. Lawsuits over the Trump Soho development showed that large sums of money were invested in that project from Kazakhstan and Russia.

    3. Tax returns would show how Trump avoids paying income taxes.

Obama did release his birth certificate during the 2008 campaign. It was the so called “short form” birth certificate. A short form birth certificate contains all the information required to prove US citizenship as set forth by US law and can be used to obtain a passports or for any other purpose that requires proof of citizenship, including running for president. Obama haters like Trump manufactured out of thin air the idea that there must be some dark secret in the full version of the birth certificate when in fact Hawaii just no longer released the long form certificates. Now as president, Obama did ask the Democratic officials in Hawaii for the long form certificate and as a favor they gave him a copy of the long form certificate.

On the other hand, every major party candidate for president has released their Tax returns since Richard Nixon.

    • Tax returns don’t show as much information as people think they do. First of all, tax returns only show income and not wealth. Secondly, Trump owns a bunch of different corporations, LLCs, partnerships, etc, so his PERSONAL return would just show his dividends and capital gains, and pass-through income/losses, without giving the details of what’s happening in those businesses.

  9. We need a post about the Battle of Berkeley.

On NeoGaf and DailyKos they are generally supportive of Antifa. Their line of thinking is that opposing views are illegitimate and it is acceptable to use violence to shut them down.

I have no problem with that line of thinking on a moral level but what is frustrating to me is that they actually think it can work for them.

Leftisim can only exist in an ordered society. When order breaks down, Leftism goes *poof* because there is no place for examining white privilege and heteronormativity in a state of war. But beyond that, we are vastly more organized, better armed, tougher, have the support of the law enforcement and military rank and file and have control over the countries food, water and power supplies. And yet the left still thinks that they can win.

Even after we completely kicked their ass yesterday they still think that their strategy of violence is working.

Now in fairness, there are some voices of reason on NeoGaf and DKos who realize that they lost yesterday but it seems like the loonies are dominating the conversation.

Ultimately this stuff helps us but man is it tiring.

  11. When political violence happens, there are two things that indicate that one side has one the battle:

    1. When one side calls the others cowards for covering their faces/attacking weaker targets/using superior numbers/etc., the side doing the calling out has lost the day. It doesn’t necessarily mean that their claim of the other side being cowards is false, but it does mean that they, the side calling their opponents “coward”, has lost the day.

    2. When one side starts up with the whole “Where are the police/FBI?” spiel, the side asking that question has lost.

Yesterday is the first time maybe since the 60s that we have emerged victorious in one of these confrontations with the Left. It really feels good after the way we have been losing so many these last 2 years.

The biggest question after all this is will Left wing cities continue to order their police to stand down when they know that the result is going to be the Lefties getting their asses kicked? That is a very important question that we don’t yet have the answer to.

  13. Recall that the main Birther contention pre-2011 was that Obama had never released his actual, long form birth certificate to the public. And that for years Obama apologists and Obama’s people themselves said that he had released it, which was a lie. They had released some abbreviated form which wasn’t official and didn’t have all of the relevant information. So when Trump pressed the issue and couldn’t be bullied out of it (thank God for that), Obama was forced to finally release the long form cert (or some version of it anyway). So the Birthers were right about their main factual contention for the previous 3 years. Of course, this was never acknowledged by the Left.

There can be no doubt given the converged nature of the federal bureaucracy that if there was a smoking gun in Trump’s taxes we’d have seen it leaked long ago. Let’s hope the Left continues to expend tons of energy on this while the deportations continue in the background.

  14. Some lefties believe that Trump’s 2005 taxes (publicized by Rachel Maddow) were leaked by Trump himself, because they make Trump look good, and because that was when Melania applied for citizenship. The implication is that Trump would’ve paid his taxes in full to make sure Melania got citizenship. On the other hand, he’s been audited multiple times since then, so maybe that’s irrelevant.

I want to believe Trump is trolling leftists, but it’s also reasonably likely that he evaded taxes, or possibly had some business ties that leftists would use as evidence of their Russian conspiracy.

    entity123fakestreet

    April 16, 2017 at 2:06 pm

    • It’s obvious that Trump doesn’t release his taxes because he has nothing to gain by doing so. Even the illegally leaked 2005 return, which shows Trump is as wealthy as he claims and that he does pay his taxes, settled nothing for his enemies. So why bother. He knows he can get re-elected without it. And there’s no legal requirement to do so (unlike being able to prove your citizenship status).

  17. Obama’s birth certificate is a worthless forgery. However, the real scandal involves his college records which have been sealed. My guess is that he applied to those schools as a foreign national from Indonesia and that is what he is hiding. Remember also that nobody in his graduating class at Columbia even remembers going to class with Barack Obama. He was probably being MK Ultraed at an undisclosed airbase during that time in preparation for his run as Manchurian candidate of the new world order. Or at least that is what Henry Kissinger told me one night in a D.C. bar when he was really drunk.

  18. Obama never released his college records or written theses. It’s not hard to guess why.

There are some odd quirks in Obama’s long-form birth certificate. His name is given as “Barack Hussein Obama II.” The convention, of course, is to use “Jr” when named after the father and “II” when named after a relative, say, an uncle. His father’s race is listed as “African.” The father’s place of birth is given not as city and country but “Kenya, East Africa” (Kenya is about the size of France). Still, there is no good reason to doubt the birth certificate’s authenticity.

      • You are Paleocon/Libertarian scum.

Nobody is calling for or predicting that the government will deport 10s of millions. What we are advocating for, and what appears to be happening, is that ICE is aggressively targeting the illegals with records, a number in the hundreds of thousands, and in the process scooping up a lot of illegals who do not have records. There are two difference between this and what Obama was doing: 1. Obama was only going after felons and leaving those who were found guilty of minor crimes alone and 2. When non felons got caught up in the sweeps Obama was letting them go.

Trump’s strategy is genius because he is able to say, “I’m only deporting criminals”, when actually he is waging an all out assault on the immigrant community. The end game here is to only deport 1 to 1.5 million people a year from the interior (about double what Bush was doing during his 2nd term) but doing just that, coupled with E-Verify, will cause massive self deportation.

And remember, it isn’t important that we get rid of the 13 million illegals already here, what matters is that we stop more from coming and then we move on to legal immigration.

And remember, it isn’t important that we get rid of the 13 million illegals already here, what matters is that we stop more from coming and then we move on to legal immigration.

It is very important. And obviously you think it’s important since you won’t shut up about what a genius Trump is for engineering their deportation.

And on top of doing that it’s very important to pay people to renounce their citizenship and to institute a eugenics program, preferably one that explicitly uses race and ethnicity as a criteria.

      • Only degenerates and strivers emigrate into America and travel between the Anglo Prole Sphere orbit. There are plenty of H1Bs from India and China, and many of them also live in other Anglo prole domains, who eventually make their final footing in Meriprolestan, because it’s DA sh!t.

And White expatriates from Anglophone Canada, the British Isles and Australia are the saddest pieces of sack, when they come to America, because they work mostly for American companies.

  20. Did Obama publish a single academic article? You can’t get a faculty job at Commuter State without an academic publishing record, let alone a job at the University of Chicago. Everything about him is off.

His mother spent 14 years on her dissertation. He did not bother with such trifles, but the seas parted for him.

    • Obama had bigger long-term interests than being a law professor. If he had devotes time to writing law review articles instead of politics, instead of an ex-President he’d be a respected law professor with a lot of published articles.

      • That’s true. The question is: how did he get the job in the first place? He graduated from Harvard Law in 1991. He was teaching at Chicago in 1992.

  21. I’m betting it’s #3. That’s what I saw it as. It’s a piece of tofu disguised as red meat to distract his political enemies with.
