Silicon Valley, Season 4

The second episode of Season 4 of Silicon Valley aired on HBO this Sunday. Great show.

This episode features Dinesh’s hilarious transformation from goofy butt of Gilfoyle’s jokes to coiffed super-egotistical CEO.

So why haven’t I given Silicon Valley the same attention I gave to Girls? It just seemed like there was a lot to comment on in Girls. Silicon Valley is the more enjoyable and funnier comedy series, but there isn’t much I have to say about it.

  1. It’s less your style. SV shows people becoming rich by producing amazing things that make people’s lives better, which you think is impossible. It’s an idealistic show, while Girls is dark and basically about how much feminism sucks, which is a good message.

    • Have you actually watched the show? The majority is about backstabbing assholer.

    • I second JW Bell. So far, the show has depicted the unsuccessful struggle of omega male and value creator Richard Hendricks against alpha corporate value transferers. Hooli, “Action” Jack, VCs…

And in the last episode, Dinesh, another omega male, gets screwed too by the first value transference machine ever created: the legal system.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mike Judge reads this blog.

      • How is girls antifeminist? It’s just Lina Dunham’s machinations on how much modernity sucks but she will never admit it’s predictably because of feminism. Nor will her viewers infer this. The left’s answer to a problem is always that we haven’t gone left enough.

      • Yes, this show is a great example of how people don’t care about value qua value. People simply care about having more than others. Better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven; and all that.

      • I’m a delta male myself – changeability is my stock in trade. I’m as protean as any Marvel Comics superhero when it comes to my masculine identity, and can transmute myself at will from beta to alpha, then to omega, and then back to alpha or beta once again. Can any of you do this?

  2. I fell asleep during Silicon Valley on Sunday — will have to watch it later. Woke up for Billions, though, which was great. The most entertaining show on TV at the moment.

    • The latest episode of Billions was fantastically good.

      May 3, 2017 at 5:59 am

    • I couldn’t get through the first season of Billions — so many cringe-worthy moments, so much painful dialogue.

The only reason I (we) watched as much as I did was because my girlfriend works at a Westport hedge fund (should be pretty easy to guess which one).

      • Which shows do you like?

  3. First two seasons were great, but last season was terrible. First two episodes this year have been ok. Losing Chris Welch as Peter Gregory during the first season was a big blow. It was mitigated a bit in season 2 by having the Russ Hanneman character, but he was absent from season 3 except a cameo. There was no comparable character last year and the show suffered for it. Hanneman returned in the first ep of this season, but I think this may have been just another cameo. Hope the show can find it’s footing again.

    • This season hasn’t been that good.

    • Hanneman is definitely the best character. Any time he’s on the screen it’s just funny.

      May 4, 2017 at 7:41 pm

    • Russ Hanneman has the best line in the history of the series. Upon meeting Jared for the first time, he said, “This guy fucks”. And sure enough, he was right.

      • Love that, and yea great over the top obnoxious character. Overall I don’t think the show is that great though. Too much filler without the laughs to back it up-a fun show to pass time.

Lion, have you seen Broad City? Comedy with two 20s Jewish girls getting by in New York.

  4. Computers and subcons. Boring…

  5. Sorry to be off topic, but HBD is starting to break through into the UK MSM. This BBC radio programme by Toby Young is based upon an article he published in Quadrant, an Australian conservative online publication. Perhaps US readers can’t access the radio programme, if not the Quadrant article is definitely worth reading. The radio programme explains the heritability of IQ, resulting in the perpetuation of a meritocratic elite that is increasingly divorced from the rest of society. Both left and right should be alarmed by the consequences, especially in the forthcoming age of AGI.

  7. So what happened to the Trump Russia stuff? How come nobody is talking about it anymore?

    Otis the Sweaty

    May 4, 2017 at 2:06 pm

    • After Trump bombed Syria, they stopped talking about it.

    • Susan Rice just refused to testify about Russia. Guess Obama’s former National Security Advisor isn’t interested in getting to the bottom of those allegations.

      Dave Pinsen

      May 4, 2017 at 3:26 pm

    • It is still being talked about on NeoGaff and Liberal Circles. Putin is currently hacking the German election and Le Pen is a “puppet” of Putin because she doesn’t want to go to war with Russia.

      May 4, 2017 at 3:33 pm

    • After Trump bombed Syria, they stopped talking about it.

That and Susan Rice’s involvement made it clear that there was potentially more illegal activity done by the Obama admin on this issue than the Trump campaign.

  8. Most delusional celebration thread ever at neogaf:

They apparently think that the Senate writing their own bill is some sort of loss for Trump and the Republicans. Even the Kostards aren’t this delusional.

    • They apparently think that the Senate writing their own bill is some sort of loss for Trump and the Republicans. Even the Kostards aren’t this delusional.

The Senate always does that when the House sends them legislation. McConnell will be slower than Ryan but he will be more likely to get it done because he is a better parliamentary strategist.

      May 4, 2017 at 6:17 pm

    • Ryan screwed up the health bill at first because he then didn’t allow debate on the Committees. McConnell has been in the Senate forever and won’t make that kind of amateur mistake.

  9. Slightly chubby chick shoots a .45-.70. This beast is to ammo what a neighborhood like Williamsburg or Greenpoint is to NYC: never glamorous, but has been around for a very long time (the cartridge dates back nearly 145 years), and after decades of seemingly inexorable decline it has become trendy in recent years. While it has a short effective range it’s capable of dropping elk and moose.

    May 4, 2017 at 5:13 pm

    • She’s more than “slightly” chubby. She is legit fat.
