  1. This is Kelly taking charge which is a good thing. Can’t say I’m surprised Mooch didn’t last.

    • John Kelly reminds me of NYC’s Ray Kelly. Both are Marines.

Ray Kelly is Irish prole NY but has a cold blooded seriousness that is not the same as loud, crude NY.

Trump’s problem has been lack of high quality talent on much of his team.

Jeff Sessions is a high quality talent. He might be on his way to Homeland Security which might be even better than AG.

      Mooch’s crude language is embarrassing.

      • Ray Kelly is Manhattan born n bred Irish with Harvard credentials. He received a LLM from NYU Law and a JD from St Johns.

John Kelly is just prolier (Bostonian Irish with a state school degree and a non-remarkable advanced degree from Georgetown).

Now its a bunch of Generals and an Exxon guy in charge.

And a nice old man from Alabama to be Attorney General who had to recuse himself from the job of Attorney General. Mattis, Kelly and Rex are not the problem. They do what Trump tells them to do. Sessions has to get his personal attorney in the room before he can discuss anything with Trump.

      • Without Twitter Trump can’t direct Sessions what to do, since any direct one-to-one communication would require Sessions’ lawyer to be present and would be subject to Mueller’s witch hunt. Thanks Jeff!

  2. I wish Trump wouldn’t do things that make him look ridiculous. But, the bright side is that maybe this means Bannon is still in good graces.

    • I dont see how any of this is helpful.

What was accomplished in all this chaos? Unless Trump advised Mooch to save his marriage this is all bad.

TruCon fantasy. Pence’s job is to do one thing and, to his great credit, he’s been doing it really well and that is to say: “Yes sir, Mr. President, whatever you say. I’m on it and will report back ASAP, Mr. President.”

      • “You do realize we are barley 7 months into this chaos”

All it takes is someone in the media or just an average joe the rouse the anti-trumpsters into a state of frenzy-James Hodgkinson mood, and hell breaks loose. I expect bullets to be flying into the GOP crowd in the near future, if the Trump admin continues to play musical chairs with its staff members.

I like the chaos. Trump’s getting some things done. If you are only focused on chaos you are being deceived. Or deceiving yourself.

I would rather have Trump chaos than Jeb/Hillary/McCain, uni-party Washington working smoothly with the media propaganda machine working to systematically take-down America from within.

    • Me too. My expectations for Trump’s presidency were very low to begin with, and I mainly gauge his performance by how well I am/expect to be entertained. This might be Trump’s first real mistake. The Mooch seemed like comedy gold.

  5. It’s lucky that Trump isn’t in charge of something serious like a war, he’s all over the place. You couldn’t run a business (or a family) like this, but I don’t suppose his supporters will care about what goes on in Washington.

  6. I feel bad for The Mooch but he brought it on himself and I agree with Andrew E in that Kelly taking charge is a good thing. Hopefully this means the public feud with Sessions ends as well and that overall we get less drama coming out of the WH.

I know that we’ve hoped for that before but this time we have real administration changes to suggest we may be turning over a new leaf.

When I was growing up, the first TV we had at home was a Magnavox. An old black and white console with a record player and AM/FM radio. I loved that old appliance. I really wish I could go back to the days when that was the only thing I knew named “Magnavox.”

  14. Speaking of “is loose” puns, I’ve heard that O. J. Simpson is going to be looking for a new job in a couple months. Why not O.J. for communications director? Heck, why wait? Maybe he could start while still incarcerated. Follow up question, has anyone ever moved from WH communications director to elected office? In other words, any chance of a Trump/Simpson ticket in 2020?

  15. Trump’s narcissism and insanely jealous personality is getting in the way of him being effective. The Mooch was a step in the right direction. Anytime someone starts doing anything good, or gets a little bit of the spotlight, Trump has a fit of narcissistic rage and seeks to crush them. Very bad way to run the government. I predict he gets nothing done, and does not get re-elected. All competent candidates to work for him are doomed to getting sidelined (like Bannon), humiliated (like Sessions) or fired (like The Mooch). So all he will have are loser cronies who can’t outshine him and have no better options. There are no more sessions in the pipeline lining up to get badmouthed. Liberals are right that he is a doofus.

  18. That whole episode was terrible. Anyone who doesn’t have more self-awareness and self-control than that wasn’t going to get any better. Kelly was right to dismiss him. I hope Trump let’s Kelly take over running the administration. Let Trump be the public face and set the agenda because he has the right priorities. But let Kelly work quietly behind the scenes to carry them out.

  21. It could’ve been anti-manlet discrimination. Trump doesn’t seem to respect short guys. Remember the “little Marco” line?

Maybe Trump was ok with him when he saw him on TV, but when he finally met him in person he realized he was too short for him.

    • The Mooch has been in Trump’s orbit for a long time. Trump knew his height.

      Lion of the Blogosphere

August 1, 2017 at EDT pm

      • That’s true, but he probably mostly knew him through the TV. If he did meet him before, he probably didn’t remember him that well since he meets so many people. When he started showing up at the White House and Oval Office after being appointed communications director, that’s probably when Trump really took notice of his height.

  22. Another factor might be the alpha/beta thing. The news of the Mooch’s wife divorcing him became major news last week. Trump follows the news carefully and surely saw that story. The fact that his wife was leaving him like that may have made him look very beta to Trump, which caused him to fire him.
