I’m in favor of this. The NFL makes massive amounts of money, and then they turn around and push BLM crap on its fans. Just say no.

  1. I’m in favor too, and it seems as tho ratings are down as well as ticket sales but does anyone think that it’s possible to destroy the NFL?

Meanwhile, I picked up a discarded Time mag in my building and some stuff in it is interesting. Cover article is about the Dems – “Shrunk. Democrats are in their worst shape since 1929. Can anything save them?” Article is clueless.

Then there are articles about TV. Star Trek is going all female. Good according to Time. I say it’s the last gasp of a dying franchise. What say the commenters here? And Lion?

Then there are three “jingoistic” TV series about spec forces, etc., and in this I am in superficial agreement with the so-called left. What strikes me is how utterly clueless Hollywood is about the alt-right, and its contributions to the culture, which is a total disgust with the Military Industrial Complex. It’s as if we’re back in a very stupid feedback loop of the 1950s, fighting the Russians, and revering the MIL w/o question.

    • I watched Star Trek Beyond (2016) yesterday and it was good. Better than almost all of the original Star Trek movies. The late 90’s and early 2000’s were a low point for Star Trek with the unwatchable Patrick Stewart movies.

Yet Trump surrounded himself with Goldman Sachs bankers, Generals and Democrat swamp dwellers.

Not exactly what the alt-right was looking for.

    • As someone who isn’t a sports fan and doesn’t follow it, it takes a lot to push this up to my level of awareness, but pushed it is. I can’t believe the NFL thinks it’s a good idea to stand with hating the country. That’s really what the stand/kneel issue boils down to. If you are kneeling during the national anthem, you hate America. Case closed.

As far as Star Trek goes, the new show premieres tonight so we’ll see if they’ve screwed it up. If the rumors about making Klingons MAGA supporters is true, this will be a disaster, but since the show is shrouded in secrecy, you never know. I do want to watch at least to the Mirror Universe episode though.

I agree, but will it play in Pittsburgh? The Steelers didn’t go out on the field for the anthem. Fuck ’em I say. But those white working class Yinzer Steelers fans love their boys. I doubt that a boycott will work.

And to expand the racial dynamic, it’s mostly fat, nonathletic White guys worshiping black athletes who have White wives and girlfriends who are cheered on by White female cheerleaders.

      • Dude that is old Chateau Heartiste wisdom from a decade ago. Yeah it is still better to be an NFL fan than, say, a brony,. or a huge anime fan, but not by as much as it was, and it shrinks every year. If you are interested in good-looking women under the age of 45 you are better off being into hiking on Sundays, ,even (much less trekking or “adventure sports) than sitting with your “bros” (unless they are rich bros) and watching the snowflake fat men of the NFL pretend to be tough, while Tom Brady – of all people – eventually wins all the prizes, year after year. Well if you used to be in the NFL it is still cool to sit on that couch every Sunday admiring the NFL fat men. I’m guessing you were’nt, though.

  3. The NFL doesn’t push BLM crap on their fans, or didn’t until today. The owners blackballed Kaepernick during the off-season and had everything under control until Trump decided to blow it all up to get some cheap applause in Alabama. If I was an NFL owner I would be pissed at Trump today too. Trump decided to jump on this issue about a year after it stopped being relevant, one of the weirder and more tone deaf moves he has made. More and more he seems like an out-of-touch senile grandpa yelling about nonsense.

    • How is it tone deaf? Trump isn’t NFL commissioner. Yeah, he is screwing the NFL over big time, but it was a brilliant political maneuver. He is goading the Democrats and their coalition of the fringes to come out against America, and stupidly, they are walking right in to The Donald’s trap. Today NFL team took disrespected the US Flag in a game overseas and then proceeded to stand up for attention at the playing of a foreign nation’s anthem. In Pittsburgh black coach made his entire team stay in the locker room for the playing of the anthem. Bronze star winning veteran refused and marched on to the field by himself to put hand on his heart and respect the anthem. Optics of this are great for Trump. I’ve noticed this picture making the rounds on Twitter a lot today:

      September 24, 2017 at 2:05 pm

    • Baiting Democrats into ranting about how much they hate America is an easy win for Trump. The Democrats are totally alienating Middle America.

If that’s hard to understand, imagine the players were insulting the Iranian or the Azerbaijan national anthem.

  4. There have been enough white players in the NFL to make it somewhat tolerable up to this point. A lot of coaches and owners are also conservative because of how popular football is in red states. I thought that Trump may embolden the conservatives in the league, but it looks like it’s backfiring with everyone adopting BLM orthodoxy.

It’s interesting to contrast to the NBA, which is 80% black, and with the last 20% seemingly to be all white jock sniffers or Europeans. They did Sheryl Sandberg PSAs last year. Two of the most famous coaches, Greg Popovich and Steve Kerr are regularly outspoken against Trump. You don’t really see that in the NFL.

I follow MLB less, but it seems that the few native born blacks and having so many conscientious whites makes it the most conservative of the three leagues.

    • “I don’t know what else black people want”

They want to stop being humiliated by the towering achievements of white people. I can understand this feeling as I have a sister and I am a lot smarter and more successful than her. It really burns her up. My parents always spent more money on her and yelled at both of us when she acted out, apparently in an effort to compensate for our inequality. Affirmative action, you could say. But it didn’t do much good in the end.

Actually, most blacks are not like that. But a big enough minority is consumed by envy and hatred towards white people to set the agenda for black activist movements. And Leftist whites are all to happy to channel that negativity for their own purposes.

  7. Kaepernick started this thing (of refusing to stand for the playing of the national anthem) ostensibly in protest of what he deems are wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States.

This flies in the face of all logic. African Americans and (NAM) minorities in the United States have never had it so good in terms of opportunity, often to the detriment of whites and asian minorities. The trope of “hands up don’t shoot” has been exposed as the fraud it always was, and we can recognize this as just another identity politics “hate America” ploy to divide and destroy. Watch Judge Jeanine

“The national anthem is and always will be a special part of the pre-game ceremony. It is an opportunity to honor our country and reflect on the great liberties we are afforded as its citizens” says the 49ers.

AFAIC once you are at work, once you pull on that uniform and enter the field of play, you are honor-bound to respect your employer’s norms of behaviour and not act in such a way that could call undue attention or disrespect to that same employer.

Not willing to stand for the anthem? Fine, then remain in the locker room until its over. Want to protest in front of the public for some reason? Fine, do it on your own time when you’re not representing your employer in front of millions of people.

Can we expect these (mostly black) athletes, coddled all throughout their HS & College “careers”, most with IQs that do not even approach triple digits, and earning millions to entertain us (well, not me), to avoid being drawn into the identity politics trope? Probably not.

Should we allow these deluded voices to permeate every single aspect of our lives now? I would say that we should not, and will not, and the demise of ESPN is an object lesson that people are not prepared to put up with it.

Trump has now moved the battle against post-modernism, identity politics and political correctness into the sports arena. His opponents are a bunch of snowflakes and cowards, earning exorbitant amounts of money to be essentially the modern equivalent of dancing bears and jesters. They have accepted convenient lies as supposed truths and feel the need to co-opt their employers rights and throw the equivalent of a tantrum in order to such lies. Should we continue to placate them?

Time for the NFL and owners to man up. Looks like they’re doing the opposite. No surprise there.

    September 24, 2017 at 1:49 pm

  8. I thought the #BoycottNFL hashtag was being promoted by SJWs who are protesting that Colin Kaepernick is out of a job because of his courageous stand.

That’s what’s interesting. The NFL is getting hit from two different sides–liberals who think like that, and fans who are sick of the national anthem protests.

  9. Why are players on the field anyways during national anthem? Best strategy would be to keep the players in locker room until national anthem is over.

Moreover, Why do we need national anthem during sports anyways?

    September 24, 2017 at 2:22 pm

    • Oh, please. Would you stand 15-20 times a year for the national anthem (of any place) if you could get a million dollars a year to play your favorite game? There are lots of non-citizens in the MLB, and they stand for the national anthems of Canada and the USA for 160 games a year. I am glad we watch baseball instead.

  10. BLM is based on a racist conspiracy theory that police are running around murdering innocent blacks. Then they cherry-pick incidents to lie and make a stink over. The problem is that once people become infected by some canard they become angry and irrational and won’t listen to reason. This is similar to the conspiracy theory that whites created AIDS to kill blacks or that jews drink blood on passover.

There is a difference though. Those other conspiracy theories are believed by dumb people who don’t know any better. But smart people in the msm do know better. The msm is promoting these canards for ratings and politics, whether the individual people doing it are motivated by racism, feminism, global warming, socialism, homosexuality or whatever. BLM may not have anything to do with most of those. But they’re all radicals with an agenda. They realize politics is a team sport and that, by pushing this canard, they can advance their own agenda as well. They’re scum.

  12. No way — any rational White person should support BLM, just as they should support abortion.

As Steve Sailer has documented, since the rise of BLM, the rate of black-on-black homicide has increased dramatically. How is that in any way a bad thing? Rhetorical. Also, BLM has likely inspired the murder of several pigs. Win-win!

Other than clogging up Portland streets on occasion, I fully support BLM. Though its existence is based on lies, they get excellent results, baby! Ends justify the et cetera.

    September 24, 2017 at 3:06 pm

  13. The NFL owners locked Kaepernick out of the league for his protest.

That got more black players angry at the NFL and some left wing groups have been trying to organize a NFL boycott to protest Kaepernick not being picked up by any team. The kneeling for the national anthem has spread to more players this year. While I question whether Kaepernick is good enough to be a starter in the NFL anymore, he is certainly good enough to be a backup somewhere.

Now Trump is trying to start a right wing boycott of the NFL to protest the fact that the NFL cannot stop some of its players from kneeling during the national anthem.

I bet the NFL owners are now very pissed at Trump.

    September 24, 2017 at 3:13 pm

    • Personally, I’m not a big fan of all this juvenile “USA!” bullshit that’s always been prevalent in the United States. Frankly, I don’t know what the national anthem has to do with football in the first place. That being said, BLM is anti-white, and if it’s going to be part of the general sports scene now, then I say it’s perfectly justified for white Americans to tune out. They should be paying attention to more important things, anyway.

      September 24, 2017 at 4:04 pm

      • “Frankly, I don’t know what the national anthem has to do with football in the first place.”

In baseball, it started when Franklin Roosevelt (D) got America involved in some stupid European war. I assume that’s when it started with every other sport. Heck, the anthem was played at the start of classical music concerts back then, a stupid tradition that’s mostly dead now. Pro sports oughta follow the example of orchestras and ditch the anthem.

Authorities in Tennessee say eight people were injured in a shooting at a church in the Nashville area…Nashville fire officials described it as a “mass casualty situation.” They said eight people, nearly all of them adults over age 60, were being treated for gunshot wounds and the area around the church remained shut down.

Update: LA Times, 09/24/17 – Gunman captured after opening fire at church outside Nashville, killing 1 and wounding 7

A gunman has been captured after opening fire at a church near Nashville, killing 1 and wounding 7, according to police. Six of the injured were shot and one was pistol-whipped, police said. The severity of the injuries was not immediately known. The Metro Nashville Police Department said the gunman was wounded and was taken to a hospital. No details were available about his condition.

  16. Most people who choose to spend their time watching one ever-changing Cushim team in competition with Cushim teams, season after season, aren’t going to be terribly swayed by politics unless it is to the Left.

While I played varsity football and get football, the White people who watch the NFL (or NBA) are mindless. Turn off the packs of interchangeable running blacks, who are running restricted variations on the same exact game that they were 20 years ago X 16 per season, and go and make a baby, read a book, finger paint, meditate while watching the grass grow, etc. All infinitely better and more interesting uses of one’s time than the pointless exercise that is being a professional football spectator.

    September 24, 2017 at 4:12 pm

    • When you played football, did you gain a realization of how superior cushim are physically? Or are you one of these “the winner of the world’s strongest man competition is white” types?

      September 24, 2017 at 4:53 pm

      • No, Blacks irrefutably have a different physiology that allows them to dominate in many sports. Few people who are observant realists would deny that, and many observant politically correct types know that but won’t admit it.

Though, on the football team that I played on, on the year that we were all city in a major metropolis, the team was about 85% White. Our star wide receiver and safety (same guy) was Black. He was very good, due to his speed, hands, and height. The rest of the Black guys were pretty much maybe half of the O and D lineman, who were mostly hard workers but there because they were fat and strong due to being forced to lift weights (as most HS O and D lineman are), and an unremarkable if consistent (half race) fullback who rotated in an out with White guys. And a backup receiver. Everyone else on O and D was White. Our star receiver after the aforementioned Black receiver left was White. I know that they both went on to play college sports but I think that the Black guy went on to play college b-ball, and the white guy went on to become a star receiver for his D-1 school. I’m sure that the Black guy could have done well at football as well, he just chose b-ball. Not sure how he did. My school had a QB in the super-bowl in recent years.

Is the winner of the world’s strongest man competition White? Whites must have some propensity for strength then. Look, blacks can run fast, jump high, catch balls, dribble balls, pass balls, undoubtedly have a hormonal profile difference from whites, a fat percentage difference when in optimal shape using natural methods (if any), and perhaps even a musculature difference that can be exploited. However, sports rules have also often been adjusted to cater to styles of play that favor the advantages that blacks have, and whites still dominate in certain positions and certain sports. I grant blacks their sports dominance in the many places where they have it. I really do, and could care less. Blacks can forever be the strength dominant arena race if that makes them happy. I would never take that away from them.

        September 24, 2017 at 6:51 pm

      • Also, the best way to realize the physical difference between Blacks and Whites is not to observe male athletes.

One’s reason will be prone to rationalizing away and ignoring the differences that it may think that it sees between the bodies of physically mature Black and White male athletes.

This is because you never know who works out, who doesn’t, who is on juice, etc. And at that level, everyone has been filtered out for competitive ability and so the natural differences will be minimized. I didn’t realize the difference so much when this is who I was observing when I played three varsity sports.

(Btw, what I learned from wrestling is that significant Black muscle mass does not denote strength. I’ve gone up against hugely muscular black individuals with no real strength, as well as huge black guys who were very strong. But I’ve never otherwise experienced an instance of going up against a guy with huge muscles who had no strength, except with a black guy. I’ve only experiences going up against White guys who were as strong as they looked, and much much stronger than they looked (underestimating the strength of some guys led to my most regretful losses).

The best way to come to this irrefutable conclusion that black and white physiology is different is to observe the bodies of young black women. A young non-obese black woman pretty much has the muscular tone, without working out, of a wiry but athletic16 to 18 year old white male with low body fat. Think of a lanky track or cross country athlete. They’re at least as strong as well. I’ve gone toe to toe with young black women (friends) in mock slap fights. I pretty much had to tense up my muscle and move as fast as I would with a young white athlete. Young white women are physically soft in the way that we generally think of women.

That’s a large physical difference between races.

  17. Comment from normally unhinged NeoGaffer in reaction to people who are taking Trump’s side on this: “It does make me incredibly sad that these people are out there in these numbers, and breed like rabbits. The thought of them being all bots just isn’t accurate. We’ll be dealing with this forever.”

  18. Why exactly does NFL’s male, white, working-class base put up with stuff??

    September 24, 2017 at 6:16 pm

  19. So are Red State American patriots going to give up the NFL and start watching soccer instead? Lol we are living in the best timeline folks.

  20. I thought that playing the anthem and hoisting the flag was a cute American tradition. Looks like with increased diversity and racial polarization its end is coming. This kerfuffle is a sign of it. Sad.

Trump, is wasting precious time instead of focusing on governing and affecting the real changes that he was elected to do. I mean, blacks are stupid, they may not even understand what national anthem is. Why start up with them when you haven’t done much of anything you’d promised? Look, a whole team didn’t come out on the field and dissed America. Tell me these people aren’t stupid? Sad.

    September 24, 2017 at 7:13 pm

    • I hate the kneeling mostly because it’s anti-white. I couldn’t care less about the national anthem. I’ve never been able to determine exactly what it has to do with sports. Someone higher in the thread told me it was put into place during wartime.

      September 24, 2017 at 8:29 pm

      • Nobody forces people to fly American flags on their houses or on their lawns, but many do it. Regardless of how it started, Americans feel patriotic about their flag and anthem. I remember that when I was attending an all white public school, the pledge of allegiance was taken seriously. This is pretty unique compared to other countries. My Tajik keeps asking why they are flying the flag everywhere. He just can’t wrap his head around the fact that people do it out of their own free will. I’ve lived here for too long so I’m personally confused now as to what I feel, but I would say it’s better this way then discontinuing this tradition. Out with the new, in with the old. It’s something that strikes you, when you come to America. Not a bad thing at all.

    • There is no hope of “governing” right now. The GOP Leadership and Deep State have effectively vetoed Trump’s election for now. If Trump wants to govern, he needs to fight and win political battles. All starts this week with Alabama primary. If Strange goes down as expected, GOPe suffers a crushing defeat . Trump will paint Strange as a victim of do nothing Congress that has so outraged voters, not even Trump’s endorsement can save these guys. When Heller and Flake suffer a similar fate and Kid Rock wins in Michigan running on a Trump platform, GOP resistance to Trump will break.

      September 24, 2017 at 9:17 pm

      • If the Trump endorsed candidate loses out to the actual Trumpist in Alabama doesn’t that mean that Trump has officially completely outlived his usefulness?

  21. Being an NFL fan now is like being a smoker. It used to be an acceptable and enjoyable part of the American landscape. Now it is iredeemingly prole. It is a low sport, only fit for undesirables.

    September 24, 2017 at 9:46 pm

    • Unfortunately, this is not remotely true. Young people from good colleges build media careers by memorizing who the best college p!ayers are and analyzing how and where they should be drafted. I play golf with a Stanford grad who relates to his grandson through fantasy football, which requires sitting through a multi-hour “draft” with other college-educated professionals. The other day on S.F. radio a guy called in to say that his wife has the hots for the guy from NFL Films who analyzes the previous week’s games for the radio show.

      September 24, 2017 at 10:43 pm

      • Fantasy drafts are the best part of fantasy football — fun because they’re an excuse to hang out with your guy friends for 4+ hours.

        September 26, 2017 at 3:14 pm

  22. Sad! Football was the one thing all the races enjoyed, per Freakonomics. Now they don’t even have that.

    September 24, 2017 at 9:53 pm

    • Is that sad? I think increasing white racial consciousness and separateness is a good thing.

      September 24, 2017 at 10:31 pm

      • Magna, what are you talking about? This is sports, man! What race consciousness? I went to Wing Chun and we had people of all races. I loved working out and sparring with black guys. In Ancient Greece there was a truce declared during Olympics. You don’t bring race, politics, religion, in fact anything into sports. Let’s just compete on merit and have fun. Yes, it’s a very bad thing.

        September 24, 2017 at 11:32 pm

      • “In Ancient Greece there was a truce declared during Olympics. You don’t bring race, politics, religion, in fact anything into sports.”

If only you had told that to the modern Olympic movement in 1916, 1940 and 1944.

  23. OT but tonight I witnessed a near-tragedy as I was getting out of my car in front of a restaurant in SF.
A young couple (white father/slender attractive black mother) with a 1 1/2 year old boy came out of the restaurant as two young women, one white one Desi, came down the sidewalk with a huge tiger-striped Great Dane. With no warning the dog leapt at the kid and the father somehow flinched just in time or that kid would have no nose. Amazingly, the mother didn’t even get angry. I guess that’s the new non-judgmentalism for you.

    September 24, 2017 at 11:03 pm

    • Should’ve killed he dog.

      September 25, 2017 at 12:18 am

  24. Lion, I agree with you on this one. Trump is doing us all a favor by forcing the NFL to put their anti-middle America bias out in the open, which is SUCH A CRAZY STANCE TO HAVE because middle America is the prime consumer for the NFL.

Liberals say these players taking a knee are protesting Trump, but when you point out that Trump is calling out the players who are protesting the American flag, and therefore all these people taking knees are in effect protesting the American flag, they have no retort.

Another beyond crazy issue is North Korea. Liberals are reflexively siding with the North Korean dictator over Trump. Apparently ANY position Trump takes liberals will take the opposite one, no matter what it is. How crazy these people are.

I talk a little more about this here:

    September 24, 2017 at 11:07 pm

    • Black privilege is the problem. Had these blacks been treated and expected to be treated like any white athlete that dises the flag, this would’ve never happened.

      September 25, 2017 at 12:20 am

    • “Another beyond crazy issue is North Korea. Liberals are reflexively siding with the North Korean dictator over Trump”

I have seen and heard a lot of left-wing sympathy for North Korea. It just goes to show that liberals aren’t averse to a bit of racial nationalism, if it’s from the right direction. In fact it excites them. White antifa statue topplers are just today’s Hitler Youth book burners. Both are taking unilateral action to purify and cleanse their race.

Kneeling to show disrespect is stupid. If anything it looks like you are showing more respect. Turning your back would be the sensible thing to do. The media in Britain have been very critical of Trump over this because the kneelers are presented as principled protesters taking a stand. But I doubt a footballer who turned his back on the anthem here to show oppostion to the British government over Rotherham would be afforded much respect by the same media.

Conservatives have been proposing boycotts since forever; most recently over the sacking at google. But you always know in your heart of hearrts that they will never gain traction. So if presidential backing actually helps makes this stick, it seems like a significant milestone regardless of Trump’s motives.

      • Unlike those other cases, pro sports is going to shove it into viewers’ faces every game. I am hopeful that they will pay a big price in lost revenue.
