Austrian elections

The regular people of Austria don’t want any more Muslim immigration, and who can blame them?

What’s amazing is that so many regular people have had their minds controlled by the elites, and let them ruin the countries they grew up in by allowing massive immigration from less developed countries.

In the United States, where Trump won the election, partially because of his anti-immigration stance, but only partially so, we are still far short of unanimous agreement among the regular people that we need to put a stop to immigration. And until we have such agreement among the regular people, the danger is very real that in 2021 we get another open-borders administration which undoes everything Trump did.

  3. ‘What’s amazing is that so many regular people have had their minds controlled by the elites, and let them ruin the countries they grew up in by allowing massive immigration from less developed countries.’

This isn’t what happened. The elites never explained to the people what they were doing. They never put this issue on the ballot or called a referendum. You think any European country would agree to have Muslims and negroes become 10% of its population and pay for it with social programs? Never.

This is why I don’t understand all this ‘high trust’ society nonsense. Trust in whom and what?

    • Trust in each other–not politicians so much. But you trust low level government workers. You pay your taxes because you trust that everyone else is paying their taxes and they will be used to benefit us all. You don’t cheat other people and other people don’t cheat you. You donate blood and sign your organ donor card because you trust that no one is going to kill you and steal your organs, and you trust that others will do this too. High social trust was a reality in the West. But the more diversity you get the less social trust their is.

You are correct that it is the elites that brought about the 3rd world immigration and they did it without consulting anyone. If anyone dared criticized them they were labelled a racist. I have no idea what motivated elites in, say, Canada, to do this. What made the, think it was a good idea to import a bunch of people from, say, Somalia? Maybe the elites are insane. The lunatics are running the asylum.

Trump is a real anomaly because he is an elite, a politician and he spoke out against immigration. He said what many many people were thinking but didn’t dare say. We don’t have any politicians in Canada who will say the sort of things Trump said. They are all cucks and there is no one to vote for.

  4. I believe the reason that many Americans are still positive about immigration is because the US, like Canada is a large country and depending on where you are located many people still don’t feel particularly impinged upon by immigrants or refugees, which is a far cry from what most Europeans experience in their tightly packed countries. Additionally, countries like the US, the UK and Canada are also far more tolerant of outsiders than their non-English speaking white brethren in Europe or Quebec for that matter.

Btw does anyone recall how post 911, the liberal media used to speak glowingly about European openness and tolerance, in stark contrast to stick-in-the-mud conservative Americans. Europe became a byword for all that was modern and civilized and Democrats and SJWs in particular still strive to be as hip as Europeans. One has to wonder, how exactly are liberals living in the UWS or Santa Monica dealing with this new sharply anti-immigration Europe that is now in some senses is far more right-wing than anything Trump had ever promised.

    • My sense is also that the idea/lie that immigrants provide more than they detract is more believable in the U.S. than Europe.

      Two reasons:

      1. Our worst minority is the one that has been here for nearly all of our history. Compared to them, our various immigrant groups are almost all vastly preferable. Plus our society was already lower trust and more diverse than Europe. So we have less to lose than Europe does from immigration.

      2. We don’t like to have Mexicans as neighbors, but we do enjoy hiring them to mow our lawns for cheap. So if someone tells you that the value Mexicans provide in the form of lawn mowing and taco creation is worth more than the damage they do in various forms, it’s not immediately obvious that this is false. Your personal experience might well differ. Unless you believe in HBD, you might plausibly view the Mexican experience the same as that of Catholic immigrants in the Ellis Island era.

By contrast, the Arabs, Pakistanis, and other Muslims are just a nightmare. If you have any personal experience with them, it’s almost certainly also a nightmare. If you study the issue more deeply, you will only be further convinced it’s a nightmare. The only real point of debate is whether the nightmare will eventually end as the Muslims assimilate. You don’t even have to believe in HBD to figure it’s not worth the time/risk of the nightmare.

      • This view of Mexicans is extremely narrow and myopic.
Mexicans do far more than you think… they just work hard and keep to themselves:

They are starting businesses faster than other ethnicity:

Number of Latino federal judges is growing:

Number of Latino congressmen is growing:

One in every four baked goods you eat (sliced bread, pastries, etc.) is made by a Mexican company:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bimbo_Bakeries_USA
(Even super-old American brands like Entenmans’ is now owned by Mexicans)

The largest Cement manufacturer in the US is Mexican.

Conservatives need to develop a strategy to bring MExicans into the fold. A combination of a family values platform and, laissez faire economics would be helpful if we got rid of all the racism…

      • My view is that as the Mexican share of the population grows, the U.S. will become more like Mexico. Evidence for this is that Mestizo performance in tests of intellectual achievement, even out to the 3rd-4th generation post-immigration, is consistent with their native IQ being lower than that of whites (but higher than blacks) due to Amerindian admixture.

Conservatives struggle to incorporate Mexicans into the white American core because their genetics ensures that they are intellectually and physically distinct from whites, and more different from whites than different groups of whites (e.g. English and Poles) are from each other.

I don’t see what the fact that Latinos are gaining political participation proves. 100% of Mexico’s politicians and judges are Mexican, so that would seem to support the thesis of Mexicans causing the U.S. to become more like Mexico.

But again, while Mexico is a much worse place than most of the U.S., it is a much nicer place than any country in sub-Saharan Africa and any non-petro Muslim state. This is why Mexican immigration isn’t as irritating as Muslim/SSA African immigration and why opposition to immigration is gaining steam faster in Europe.

Mexicans are also more anti Semitic and are more likely to favor government intervention on almost any level. How do Conservatives integrate that? Blame Israel and more government handouts?

    • Americans have a long history of being told that they’re racists and communists for making perfectly reasonable demands. Europeans have a much healthier political culture and simply don’t have the level of manipulation and brainwashing that the US does.

  5. It seems unlikely that Trump loses in 2020 because an incumbent President has never before lost in a strong economy. If the economy continues to boom, Trump probably wins, no matter how unpopular he is.

On the other hand, there’s a first time for everything.

It’s true that Americans tell pollsters how much they love immigrants, but when they get in the voting booth they vote for anti immigrant politicians. It’s called revealed preference.
