Republican party really the stupid party?

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article178813586.html

Republican candidate for Congress claims repeated contacts with aliens from outer space.

She also said that the aliens had mentioned Isis, though she didn’t clarify if they meant the terrorist organization or the ancient Egyptian goddess.

Love it when aliens speak in homonyms!

  2. I was about to comment on the post below that that when I discovered your blog and Sailer a few years ago, I liked it because it was a form of “non-stupid conservatism.”

The sad reality is most conservatives are stupid. For example, a large percentage of conservatives deny the reality of biological evolution and believe the Bible is literally true. Nothing could possibly be stupider than that.

    • A ton of things are definitely stupider than that. Like not having the interest in abstract ideas to wonder as to the origin of species and the universe.

Religion is generally middlebrow; the very intelligent tend to reject religion consciously (though there are some highly religious high IQ people), the very unintelligent reject religion for the same reasons my dog does.

    • Although most liberals dismiss the Bible as a fairy tale, they also deny the reality of biological evolution (usually unwittingly). Most liberals believe in blank slatism and tend to deny, or at least minimize, the role of biology in human behavior.

    • no. there is one thing stupider. believing that the current theory of evolution is satisfactory and that any who don’t believe in its perfection must therefore believe the earth was created in 6 days 6,000 years ago. that’s stupid.

thomas nagel doesn’t believe. and he’s not stupid.

i recall my one physical anthropology course. there’s this yuge problem…new world primates first appear in the fossil record when africa and south america were separated by 1,000 miles of ocean. the “explanation” of the stupid is that african monkeys floated across the ocean on naturally formed reed mats.
is that any more likely than genesis? no!

the only reasonable explanation is that african monkeys came up through antarctica when antarctica, africa, and south america were one land mass. when antarctica wasn’t that warm. but this would violate the false belief that anthropogenic global warming is an existential crisis. it may be that global warming is real and is human caused. may be. but it doesn’t matter. the earth is still in an ice age.

      • …wasn’t that warm…

not too long ago geologically speaking…

there were forests at 85 degrees south in antarctica.

Except for people who believe that there are no inherent differences between men and women, and all perceived differences are due to socialization. And that men can become women at will and vice versa, and there are women who have penises.

I mean, let’s be honest: no one really knows from daily experience how the world began and where humanity came from. Granted, the current scientific explanations are probably far more accurate than those arriving from a literalist interpretation of the Bible, but scientific explanations are subject to revision and are ultimately human reasonings based on perceived evidence. In contrast, even monkeys can tell male from female and instinctually act on that when it comes to reproduction.

    • A large portion of progressives are also stupid. They don’t believe that gender and race are determined by genetics but are “social constructs”. They don’t believe that human races are the result of humans evolving in different environments isolated from each other. Even if they do, they don’t think evolution works on the brain. These are your progressive creationists.

    • Actually, what’s stupider is not realizing that most of today’s conservatives are just 1980-style liberals who never had any intetest in the bible, and just want to be able to notice obvious patterns without being called names.

    • I have been reading this blog and the comments long enough to expect a number of responses saying that leftists apply their own form of creationist reasoning to race, gender, and other topics.

      I agree, but come on.

The rush to nominate Marco Rubio in the early stages of the primaries demonstrates that at their core, Republicans are “The Stupid Party.”

  10. This is Lion going back to its core: teaching America how to be conservative, without sounding like complete morons. So many of this blog’s readers are adamant supporters of this or that character… to the point where they stop seeing the flaws, problems, and sometimes straight stupidity of their idols (I have the strong Bayesian posterior that the cult of personalities (à la MAGA) is typical of low IQ people).

It is nice to see Lion setting the record straight every once in a while. Moreover, it is nice to see that this blog has not completely sold out to the agents provocateurs that had been making an appearance recently with content-less and extremely racist comments.
