  2. Eh, they were running the pilot again. I suspect they are trying to draw in viewers who were turned off before, thinking it was going to be Family Guy in Space.

Of course, everyone probably thought that.

    • That’s what it was in the beginning.

  3. I watched the 5th episode of the CBS Star Trek last night (having only previously watched the premiere). Much, much better than the lousy pilot episode now that Lucious Malfoy is captain. The homos don’t bother me that much because they aren’t really over the top. They hint that the white homo might become evil which will be a refreshing change from all the saintly homo character we’ve been force fed lately. Looks like they are setting Dwight from the Office up to be a future Khan-like character. They gave a lot of time to the fish head alien character which is good. Black chick is still the worst element of the show however, and not sure if they are going to be able to get past making her such a main character. It is revealed in this episode that some Klingons are in to miscegenation which is perhaps how they are going to explain the change in appearance in the future.

    • Dwight from the Office is Harry Mudd, so he’s already an established character in Star Trek future history. He’s just be a business man/con man. For Roddenberry, there wasn’t a difference.

      • It looks like they are going to make Mudd a recurring character who’s darker than the Mudd from TOS.

  4. They ran a repeat last night because they didn’t want to compete against the four high profile sports events on other networks.

  5. I too was expecting it to be some bizarre Family Guy in Space, but I’ve found it less preachy, in general, than some of the other Star Treks, and in general an enjoyable distraction. The stereotyped Black Guy is a bit of a cringe, or perhaps more of an inside joke for FG viewers that are aware of critics of the shows portrayal of (frankly all) ethnic groups.

  6. I’ve watched 4 episodes of Orville and am really enjoying it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and so ends up being fun. It’s a nice contrast to Trek series, especially TNG.
