Trump condolence calls

There is no doubt that Trump is the least presidential of all U.S. presidents since the beginning of the mass-media age. And he’s obviously not very good at giving people the impression that he feels their pain. Clinton was the best at doing that. Reagan was probably also very good at doing condolence calls. (But had Clinton’s wife won the election, she would have been as bad as Trump. HRC has no empathy for the common man.)

Trump’s problem is compounded by the fact that the media has convinced so many people to feel a passionate and deep hatred for Trump. No doubt, the black woman was looking for any excuse to be pissed off.

The Gold Star stuff is the only thing that ever sticks to Trump. This is not the first time his enemies in the liberal-controlled media have milked Gold Star snafus, with the help of cooperating Trump-hating Gold Star family members, for as much anti-Trump sentiment as they can get out of it.

  1. You’re way off. Watch General Kelly’s press conference, he totally destroyed Frederica Wilson. The Democrats look like they are exploiting a personal tragedy for political gain. Even people who hate Trump are disgusted by their behaviour: “just let the wife grieve in peace without turning this into a media circus”. Obama never even made any of these calls.

The funniest part was when Frederica Wilson said that General Kelly labeling her an “empty barrel” was racist. Holding people up to the same standards is now racist, lol.

    • Really? More like Kelly destroyed his own reputation. He flagrantly lied in public about Wilson (and the video proves it.) Kelly just showed he will abandon his own principles to defend his boss. As a wiseman said “when you wrestle with a pig the pig gets happy and you get dirty”, and Kelly just wrestled with a pig. He should have stayed out of it.

      • What Kelly said Wilson said in Miami did not happen during the part that’s on film making the rounds now. It happened later. Kelly heard it. Others heard it. Kelly’s word is far, far better than that of the black racist Wilson.

  2. Bush and Obama mostly wrote condolence letters. They only made a small number of condolence calls. Bush especially had a much higher rate of casualties. It turns out Trump was not sending condolence letters either. After Trump claimed to have sent condolence letters, the White House staff requested the list of those killed in action since Trump was in office and rushed out condolence letters. I assume the White House has staff that can write a condolence letter for Trump to sign so I assume all those letters are fine.

Trump lacks empathy and so he is not good at something like a condolence call. Apparently Kelly coached Trump what to say, but Trump could not pronounce the soldiers name correctly and his lack of empathy came through in his remarks upsetting the widow.

So far not a big deal, everyone knows Trump doesn’t do empathy. The widow put the call on the speaker phone in the car she was riding in with a Democratic Congress Woman who was a friend of the family. The Democratic Congresswoman complained to the press that Trump has upset the widow.

At this point Trump should have just sent someone out to say they were sorry the condolence call upset the widow and Trump’s remarks had been misunderstood and/or taken out of context. Would have been the end of a one day story. Trump however could not leave it at that. He had to deny what he said. The video of Trump sitting there with his arms crossed saying “I didn’t say what that Congress Woman said. Didn’t say it at all.” makes it painfully obvious.

Then he sends Gen Kelly out to defend Trump. Kelly does a good job of defending the intention of Trump’s remarks, but then decides to attack the Congress Woman for a speech she gave some years ago that Kelly incorrectly remembered. When the video of the Congress Woman’s speech is found, the speech is nothing like what Kelly said. She simply did not say the remarks that Kelly said he found offensive. Kelly has now lost a lot of credibility. His attack on the Congress Woman tells you a lot more about Gen Kelly than it does about the Congress Woman.

Trump just does not know how to do empathy.

    • Trump dedicated a huge chunk of his very first SOTU speech to honoring a gold star mother and that was the most memorable part of the speech.

      Haters gonna hate.

      October 23, 2017 at 11:09 am

    • Condolence letters are automatically sent out. What are you talking about?

Obama changed the policy to include suicides – the right move, I think.

      October 23, 2017 at 12:51 pm

    • Empathy by the western definition is a disease of excess. Whether or not the president feels bad for individual victims is truly irrelevant, if not completely antithetical to what it means to be a leader.

      • Exactly. Can you imagine if we were in a real war of survival, like in the olden days, where 100s of thousands of soldiers die defending the country. And the president was expected to make empathetic phone calls to the family of every soldier. He would not have time to actually plan the continued defense of the nation and resistance would collapse. We have become so soft and accustomed to comfort today, it feels civilizational collapse is on the horizon.

        October 23, 2017 at 4:09 pm

    • Mike. I don’t like Trump and did not vote 4 him. But I am withTrump on this one. Media is over playing it.
Are we suddenly going to be that concerned about these proles dying on their job. They knew exactly what they signed up for. Most are probably losers in some sh##t town in Midwest with no prospects and military was only option for them.
Well it’s a risky job and deaths happen. Don’t blame president for not making or making phone calls. It’s not that important in the big picture.

      October 23, 2017 at 1:22 pm

      • It does not matter who they were or what their other prospects were, they signed up to defend their country and the American way of life. They made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.

        I find your attitude offensive.

        October 23, 2017 at 9:26 pm

      • I hope Trump does secretly look down on the military and keeps that loathing in mind when people try to convince him that they should actually be used to solve anything.

        October 24, 2017 at 11:37 am

      • Mike. They did not sign up for some higher purpose like u think. It’s just a job. I am not saying don’t pay them well for it. Just don’t need to over play it and call it some great sacrifice and such.

        October 24, 2017 at 1:44 pm

    • “Trump should have just sent someone out to say they were sorry the condolence call upset the widow and Trump’s remarks had been misunderstood and/or taken out of context. Would have been the end of a one day story”

Nonsense; this would still have been a lead story until the next “scandal” came along. Cowboy Hat was the one who upset and exploited Sgt, Johnson’s wife, and the proper response was to attack Cowboy Hat immediately, personally, and as intensely as possible. Her behavior was reprehensible, and she’s the one who should be apologizing to Mrs. Johnson.

      October 23, 2017 at 6:18 pm

    • “The widow put the call on the speaker phone in the car she was riding in with …”

Meaning this whole thing was a set up. Wilson was going on TV to complain about Trump no matter what Trump said.

  3. Fake news. None of this is sticking to Trump. And most of the normie-cucks who were put off by Trump’s entirely correct criticism of Khazir Khan last year now agree with Trump after witnessing the last 12 months of Trump Derangement and angry Muslims lecturing Americans on the teevee. Trump is coasting right now.

  4. Hillary, if she had to call, would spend 20 seconds hectoring the family members about privilege and sexism and then hang up in a huff and make up quotes of gratitude from them during her next press conference.

    • That might represent her true sentiments, but HRC’s MO is reciting words written for her by others; she would never risk making a condolence call without a script at hand. She hasn’t an empathetic bone in her body, nor an original thought in her head. That’s why people use the word “robotic” when describing her.

      October 23, 2017 at 12:08 pm

      • HRC would have been really bad at condolence calls, but the media would never have reported on it, and the Republicans would never have been devious enough to try to entrap her the way Democrats did with Trump.

      • “She hasn’t an empathetic bone in her body, nor an original thought in her head”

Her biggest problem was that she couldn’t think on her feet. I actually supported her in 2008 over Obama but by 2016 she was 8 years older at an age where that can mean a lot (and in her case it did).

The lack of empathy and spontaneity resulted in her fatal lack of charisma which is why she would always lead to a more charismatic man (or woman but she’s the kind of female pioneer who makes sure there’s not any female competition around).

  5. Wilson was the snake whispering in that poor black woman’s ear, intent on twisting the President’s words into an evil partisan, racist thing. She wasn’t there by accident – it was PLANNED. How despicable. The very lowest of the low. And when she gets called out where does she go? RACIST!!!

The identity politics war is fully engaged. Now even the greatest of our heroes are targets. Before Trump, everyone was resigned to kowtowing to this abomination of a culture, keeping a low profile, afraid to be marked with the “racist” label.

Trump is intent on wreaking havoc in the culture of victimhood and identity politics. It may take a while, but the Dems/MSM are playing into his hands (NFL, Wilson et al), and he will fight to blow the evil, divisive stench of this foul culture back to the hell from which it has crept.

Meanwhile, two clueless ex-presidents mumble on about divisiveness and the MSM try to pin it all on Trump, as though he was the cause of it and not the result. Clown circuses everywhere.

    October 23, 2017 at 11:47 am

    • Probably didn’t need tot. 90%+ of blacks voted for Hillary. The woman was never going to accept Trump’s condolences, and would’ve loved to use some aspect of it to smear him.

    • Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you’re always afraid ….

The truth is Congresswoman Frederica Wilson has known the Johnson and the late La David Johnson since he was a child. Wilson founded the a nonprofit named the 5000 Role Models of Excellence that focuses on helping black boys become outstanding black men. La David Johnson was an alumnus from that program.

Frederica Wilson had gone in the limo with the widow Myeshia Johnson and David Johnson’s aunt and uncle who had raise David after his mother died when he was 5 years old, They were going to claim his body. Apparently the White House had alerted the press that the president would call the widow and they were met by local reporters that asked about the call.

Of course none of this information ever penetrates your media bubble.

      October 23, 2017 at 1:26 pm

      • Sure, nothing to see here. Perfectly normal behaviour. For some. But not where I come from. Here, we revile a widow being used as a political pawn to smear a President.

What’s it like in your world with your media bubble? You approve of this?

        October 23, 2017 at 3:34 pm

      • Local Miami reporters met the limo when it arrived and asked about the Trump’s call. They had been tipped off by the White House that Trump would be making this call. Trump or someone in the White House was trying to exploit the situation to get good publicity for Trump. It just backfired.

        October 23, 2017 at 9:22 pm

      • Mikeca, your bile never ends. Kelly stated clearly that the White House always calls the family ahead of time to ask if they want to receive the president’s call out of respect for the family’s feelings over the matter. The family always knows beforehand when the president is calling because they’ve already accepted the invitation. This is the part where you feel some shame.

  6. All this just proves one point:

There is no body, cold or warm, big or small, the democrats wont climb onto.

That’s the message the average American gets out of it.
Which hurts Trump as much as the NFL thing, not at all!

    October 23, 2017 at 11:54 am

  7. None of this is hurting Trump. Relax.

This might hurt Clinton & Obama though:

  8. Nothing seems to hurt Trump. Nothing helps him, either. For all the unbelievable amount of pro- and anti- Trump craziness of the last year, his popularity has always been around 40%.
People decided a long time ago whether they support him or not, and nothing changes their minds.
Chances are good that his supporters are more committed to voting than his opponents, so he will eke out another victory in 2020 (if he runs again).

    • The left’s decision to attack not only Trump, but people who voted for him is creating a significant Bradley effect.

      October 23, 2017 at 6:24 pm

  9. “Presidential” is a lousy word choice and you should stop using it. President Trump is the least dignified and least polite president we’ve had in a long time. And he’s exactly what we need because the Rainbow GloboHomoPoz Left has grown so shrill and thuggish.

It’s like “professional” — everyone’s a professional these days, even the guy who unclogs toilets for an apartment complex. There’s just a handful of professions: lawyer, accountant, doctor. People use “professional” when they mean formal.

    October 23, 2017 at 4:59 pm

  10. Being that the nation is pretty starkly divided, and the news outlets have no credibility for any reasonable boundary for objectivity, it should be asked: who is the gold star agitation sticking in the mind’s of, precisely? The choir?

There may be some closet middle America centrists who don’t like Trump much, due to his demeanor, and perhaps begrudgingly voted for him. The almost gone and barely voting WWII generation has a liberal streak due to incessant WWII propaganda over the course of their lives. Not all, but some. After all, how else do you dine out on being a member of the “greatest generation” for one’s entire life, mostly meaning that you take the moral credit for defeating Germany (the nation-rebuilding propaganda being mostly bullshit insofar as their will had anything primary to do with it), without eschewing a political contradiction by rejecting racism? In their old age and will to get along, or perhaps its a will to avoid conflict and will to believe in a nation if idealists, they tend to be the conservative centrists who will sacrifice our borders for a presidential president. I digress.

I’d venture that the gold star agitation, excepting for the liberals that hate Trump anyway, mostly just pisses off white middle America.

They know that they are the ones who sacrifice most of the sons in wars in this nation. They know that liberals: 1. variously hate them and look down on their greater gravitation toward military culture and service 2. avoid military service 3. Ignore their dead. 4. Are honoring minority dead over their own, and for cynical purpose. 4. The more astute members of middle America will clock that liberals are using war dead, from minority groups who has given up relatively very few dead in American wars, to counter their political self-interest and in light of their much greater war casualty numbers.

The liberal use of minority dead is more likely to create racial tension in the service, out of mutual resentment, than have any significant political effect apart from giving television personalities something to use so that they can feebly LARP like conservatives.
