Did Moore really do it?

with 28 comments

Probably.

But it’s justified to be suspicious given the timing of the release to do maximum damage to Republican control of Congress, and so far the woman who accuses him of touching her breasts when she was 14 has not spoken to anyone besides the Washington Post reporter.

Except for that one incident, everything else he is accused of involves legal consensual activities with females old enough to consent under the laws of Alabama. Some people may think it’s icky, but I think that gay sex is icky, yet there are loads of homos serving in Congress. Moore never even had sexual intercourse with any of the girls.

If the women were going to make up fake stories to torpedo his campaign, why not make up a fake story with some real meat to it? Why not say that Moore raped her in the traditional non-consensual meaning of the word? The one story where he allegedly committed a crime sounds so innocent. On a second date, he briefly touched her breast while she was wearing a bra and he had stripped down to his underwear, and then he drove her home when she didn’t want to continue. He never even pulled out his penis, it was under his underwear the whole time.

If the incident had been reported to authorities at the time, they probably wouldn’t have bothered to prosecute it. The Alabama statute was normally used to prosecute those the authorities thought of as bad actors, boyfriends of the girl’s mother, people who worked at schools, people who did a bunch of illegal things and that statute was thrown in as a lesser offense. Or at minimum, cases where the “sexual contact” was more sustained and repeated.

I think it was very unwise for Moore to get in that situation with a 14-year-old girl (if that actually happened). There’s a reason that the term “jailbait” came into being. He should have known better!

But I don’t think it’s “perverted” for a man to be sexually attracted to a 14-year-old (perverted in the sense of abnormal or unnatural), especially if she’s mature-looking for 14.

Homosexuality is perverted.

There is no evidence. Don’t be a Mitch McConnell, Lion.

If anything significant occurred, there were 40 years to bring it up including the many, many years when Moore was a controversial judge.

I’m not a Mitch McConnell. I am absolutely opposed to Moore dropping out and letting a Democrat win. And as another commenter pointed out this weekend, it would reward liberal dirty tricks and encourage more of the sort in the future.

That said, I don’t want anyone to get too attached to the idea that Moore didn’t do it, because you might be very disappointed in the future.

  1. I really don’t care what Moore did. I mean, I haven’t been paying that much attention to the details but it appears he didn’t pressure anyone into doing anything. It’s vanilla compared to all the rest of what we are hearing about nowadays. The only thing I cared about is that it might prevent him from being elected. But that’s apparently not the case. If he’s elected it will be a middle finger to the Weinstein wing of the Democrats, and that is great.

  3. The incident w/ the 14 yo is facially a MORE plausible to fabricate than a gang rape style account.

    • Also would represent Left learning their lesson. Trump getting golden showers from prostitutes in bed Obama had slept in was laughed off by public as being patently absurd. They saw from that accusations needed to be more subtle.

  4. Maybe this has been memory holed already but the first story I read about Moore allegations, one of the girls told her mother an older man was interested her and the mother asked who it was, the girl told her mom it was Roy Moore and the mother told the girl she was the luckiest girl on earth….

    • I wish Moore would just get up and tell everyone to go fuck themselves. Just up and own the frame: “yes I tried to grab her by the pussy and yes I enjoyed it. Watchya gonna do faggots?”

  6. Moore is not accused of touching her breasts. Only touching her bra while she was wearing it.

The fallibility of human memory is such that it is meaningless to talk about whether this allegation is true or not. It is not possible for most people to remember such stories accurately for so long. The woman is only remembering how she previously told the story, even if she is sincere.

    • That would be touching her breasts through her bra. Men don’t grope women’s chests because they’re trying to get a feel of their bras.

Unless they’re huge sluts, there’s a good chance that they would remember what happened. Even if they were huge sluts with hundreds of such encounters, they might remember the incident because he became a prominent judge, and thus the memory became filed into long term memory.

  7. It’s possible that the accuser isn’t being entirely honest but has scruples about what she’s willing to lie about. She went on a couple dates with him when she was underage and is willing to say that he went too far in some ways but has enough self-respect that she won’t go full Sabrina Rubin Erdely. The accuser isn’t a CIA-built android: to be credible, they have to rely on a specific person to make the accusations, so they accept the idioscyncrasies of what she’ll say.

More probable, I agree, is that the accuser is saying what she remembers, which may or may not be precisely what happened decades ago.

Without evidence there is no way to know for certain. The allegation sounds plausible. But without additional information everyone except Moore and the accusers can only guess.

  9. Moore was looking for a wife. His behavior is not like that of a predator. He just wanted a young, probably virgin, wife he knew was not the typical college whore. To do that you have to go that young even back then.

  11. The biggest problem with lowering the age of consent is that it allows actual pedophiles to blend in with people who are not pedophiles.

Fundamental truth of biology: every individual girl and boy physically matures at her or his own speed. There are averages and there are standard deviations.

The median girl finishes puberty at 16. The median boy finishes puberty at age 18. The age of consent is high because society is trying to prevent late developing teens from actual pedophiles. Ever heard of Courtney Stodden? When she married Doug Hutchison when she was 16, law enforcement (correctly) didn’t do anything about it because she was exceptionally physically mature for her age. If you look back at her old photos, when she was 12 she looked like a typical 16 year old and when she was 16 she looked like a typical 24 year old. HOWEVER…law enforcement SHOULD take action if/when they see an old man taking advantage of 14-17 year old girls who are nowhere near the completion of puberty.

Society needs to set the female age of consent at 18, the male age of consent at 20, and then only enforce the law if/when the girl/boy is phenotypically immature.

  12. It’s not the worst thing in the world for a man to make a pass at a post-pubescent girl and desist if she doesn’t respond.

I say this as the father of teenage daughters. If a 40 year old man asked my daughter on a date and copped a feel but did not go further, I would obviously not be thrilled about it but I don’t think his life should be ruined over it.

  13. It’s irrelevant whether he did it or not. Like President Trump, Moore is a white man of blatantly normal sexuality, not a pedo-sodomist like McConnell and much of the Republicuck leadership, so, like President Trump, the swamp can’t control him via blackmail. That’s why the Republicucks want him to disappear.

God bless him, I hope he wins.

  14. Some woman claims that Moore tried to rape her when she was 16. She did a press conference today with Gloria Allred so I don’t buy it.

Definitely this whole thing has unmasked who our enemies in the Senate are. Everybody who is part of McConnell’s clique needs to go.

  15. Let’s say Moore did it. Has he done anything like that in 30 years? If so, this would suggest a possible pattern of behavior.
If not, then he was looking for a young wife. He found one. If he stopped looking, then this isn’t a pattern of behavior.

  16. I seem to remember a certain Ragin Cajun saying something about dragging $20 bills through trailer parks. Who knows what happened but I’m sure the Cathedral is not above spending 5-20k to manufacture dirt to take out someone they loathe as much as Moore.

  17. I disagree with Lion’s support for Moore. Who is he? He’s a guy who pisses off the Left for the entirely wrong reasons: bible thumping and a generally low-class demeanor which only serves to repel intelligent and nonreligious White people and thus undermine White unity. “We must be for him because the Left is against him” is the kind of logic the neocons use. It’s true that much of the criticism of him is unhinged. He’s no “pedophile” and it’s not like his presence as a free man imperils any of our daughters, as we don’t raise sluts. But he’s still a man of fundamentally bad character, who seeks to impose on the state a religion whose tenants he doesn’t follow. Cuckservatives like Jonah Goldberg at National Review love to talk about “character” as a substitute for making an actual argument, but in this case they have a point. We can’t cede the moral high ground to the Left. If we elect men like him, how can we rage against the Republican politicians who run on vague populism and then vote for amnesty at the behest of their donors? They’d be able to argue “I’m no more of a scumbag than Roy Moore.”

But if that doesn’t convince you, consider the political effects of electing Roy Moore to the Senate. We win 1 seat for three years, what effect will it have on other races? How will swing voters react to our arguments of “he’s a scumbag but he’s our scumbag?” Sometimes Rich McConnel and a stopped clock are right. There needs to be a write-in.

    • @ Hwite

Even if he groped a teen girl, Moore’s character would still be stellar compared to something like 70% of people. He’s a judge in a basically peaceful, lawful society, whereas a lot of people would shoot you for the money in your wallet. You should get a grip.

      • “Even if he groped a teen girl, Moore’s character would still be stellar compared to something like 70% of people”

Eh… I sure hope that the majority of people don’t grope teen girls when they are in their 30s. But I still remain suspicious.

      • @ LotB

My point is most people do worse, or would if they had the opportunity. Why aren’t Third Worlders stealing you blind right now? Not because they don’t want to, but because they lack the opportunity.

Groping a teen girl really isn’t that evil in the scale of things. Sorry to all the white knights out there. Democrats are trying to destroy our civilization, but I’m supposed to think some 30 year old horndog squeezing a girl’s tits is a grave danger to the Republic. Right.

I hope the people of Alabama aren’t as obtuse about this as some of the commenters here are.

    • Moore is a West Point graduate. He’s not some prole dope. And his “religious” crusade wasn’t about imposing Christian Sharia, it was a symbolic fight over a ten commandments monument that wouldn’t have even been controversial during most of our nation’s history. He knew radical atheists were unpopular in Alabama, he knew they loved suing over things like that, and so he seized on a very easy way to make himself extremely popular in the state and it worked to the point where not even this smear campaign is likely to keep him from the Senate. There doesn’t seem to be anything about Moore’s application of the law as a judge that would be problematic. To the contrary, I just read today about a case (that leftists were publicizing) in which Moore was the sole dissent against the majority’s application of an obviously inapplicable statute against a pedophile (a real pedophile, not a pederast). Highly unpopular defendant. Morally repugnant crime. But Moore resisted the urge to reinvent a statute that clearly didn’t apply just to enhance the guy’s sentence.
