Snowing again in NYC

Third snow in six days. Very unusual cold weather for early December in NYC. Global warming is hereby disproven!

Also, long-range forecast shows possibility of small snowfall on the night of Christmas Eve, possibly a mythical white Christmas which rarely happens in NYC.

A commenter will write: “Lion, you are STUPID, don’t you know that the weather in a particular place on a single week has nothing to do with the CLIMATE?”

If there was an unusual warm weather event somewhere, you can bet your behind that liberals would be proclaiming that it’s caused by global warming, why can’t I do the same thing?

Another commenter will write: “Lion, you’ve already made this point before, enough is enough.”

The liberal MSM never stops making points about global warming, so why should I stop when they don’t?

  1. Is climate change synonymous with global warming?

The second category seems like sh!t talk among prolier circles.

    • Global warming is real and it is 100% manmade: AGW is a result of men building cities around terrestrial weather stations that were placed in sparsely populated forestland many decades ago. The transient heat of the cities has raised temperatures precipitously around these weather stations. Ermagerd!

We can tackle this problem one of two ways: depopulate cities and raze them to the ground, ooorrrrrrr….. move the weather stations a couple miles outside of city limits.

      • Climate change and global warming are not interchangeable. Climate change has to do with the increase of floods and droughts coming from extreme weather like heavy precipitation and heat waves. Lion’s post doesn’t refute this, because he’s really talking about global warming, and the average skeptic thinks in terms of warming of the planet. They cite extremely cold weather in the winter to disprove this.

Wrong again. Satellite temperature date through 2015 shows little to no warming for the past 20 years. Global warming is a completely made up problem to drive alternate political agendas.

      • “Especially if so much economic activity is devoted to positional goods that don’t help the average person one bit?”

Ideally, there would be a Wise Ruler who bans this sort of economic activity. As a practical matter, that kind of power would become a tool of tribal warfare with different groups (and coalitions of groups) trying to use such legislation to advance their selfish agendas.

And in fact, that’s exactly what one sees with the global warming scam. By some weird coincidence, the solution to global warming is a bunch of policies which favor the Left.

“If the climate is so little understood, then why mess around with it?”

Because the world’s economy depends on it. By the way, I think global warming is a scam but I support numerous policies which would reduce CO2 emissions: (1) stop third-world immigration to the West; (2) increased reliance on nuclear power in the West; (3) total oil embargo on Iran; (4) money for birth control to stop runaway population growth in Africa and South Asia.

But for some strange reason, I have a feeling that warmistas don’t support any of those policies.

      • Andrew E.: That is one of the dumbest arguments out there. Over period in the past where there was warming there were long periods where there was no net increase. That’s more or less inevitable for something that is increasing but still has a lot of noise and randomness associated with it. Although I admit that that is a new, retarded talking point, not an old one.

      • Here is another new talking point demonstrating your ignorance even further. NASA says satellite measurements of the atmosphere are the most accurate measurements of global temperature and the only ones that should be used for such science. And we only have such measurements going back to the 70’s at the earliest. So the truth is we have zero reliable long term data on earth climate temperature. We have a few decades worth and that is all.

Don’t be ridiculous, the proposed Leftist solutions for global warming conveniently put extra burdens on predominantly white countries but not on others.

  8. Brrrrrr! Lots of snow and cold here in the Upper Midwest. Right now, I’d welcome a little global warming.

    But wait – isn’t there an “expert consensus” about this? Sure – in 1974, the CIA published a report warning us all about global cooling and the disasters this would cause;

“The western world’s leading climatologists have confirmed recent reports of a detrimental global climate change. The stability of most nations is based upon a dependable source of food, but this stability will not be possible under the new climatic era. A forecast by the University of Wisconsin projects that the earth’s climate is returning to that of the neo-boreal era (1600- 1850) – an era of drought, famine and political unrest in the western world.

    ….

But their recommendations sounded familiar – more government regulations, more bureaucrats, higher taxes. What a surprise!

    • Ironic that in the 1970s they predicted mass starvation due to global warming and ‘overpopulation.’ Instead we have mass obesity.

Reminds me of the strange academic adoption of rapa nui (easter island) as the archetype of eco-suicide. Overpopulation and cutting down trees on a small island with limited resources led to war, starvation, and cannibalism! But there is no evidence of this whatsoever.

They cut trees to better cultivate the land and by all evidence were living in peace and well-fed health when the europeans showed up- it was disease that decimated them, not ecological abuse.

Whereas when there has been clear forensic evidence of cannibalism in native american tribes thought to be ‘peacefully respecting the earth,’ those same academics deny it.

      • Sounds like retconning to me. They did destroy the ecology of the island. It us now a completely barren island except for a few coconut palms they have planted for the tourists. There was once huge forests including the giant Paschalococos disperta (now extinct) which they used to build their ships.

  11. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Midnight_Sun

“The Midnight Sun” is episode 75 of the American television anthology series The Twilight Zone.
    ……
The Earth’s orbit has been perturbed, causing Earth to slowly fall into the sun.

A prolific artist, Norma, and her landlady, Mrs. Bronson, are the last people in their New York apartment building. All their neighbors have either moved North, where it is cooler, or perished from the extremely high temperatures. At twenty minutes to midnight, it is 110 °F (43 °C) and sunny as high noon. Norma and Mrs. Bronson try to support each other as they watch life as they know it erode around them. The streets are deserted, water usage is limited to an hour a day, and their electricity is gradually being turned off. Food and water are scarce. A radio reporter announces that the police have been moved out of the city, and that citizens must defend themselves against looters, then angrily goes off script, joking that you can “fry eggs on your sidewalk and heat up soup in the oceans”. The reporter is forcibly taken off air.

As the temperature rises to 120 °F (49 °C), the two women grow weaker. Norma burns her hand on a windowsill. Mrs. Bronson becomes psychologically unstable, beseeching Norma to paint a picture of a cool subject, rather than Norma’s usual paintings of the sun and burning cities, screaming, “Don’t paint the sun anymore!”.
    ……
In an attempt to console Mrs. Bronson, Norma shows her an oil painting of a waterfall cascading into a lush pond. Mrs. Bronson deliriously claims that she can feel the coolness and delightfully splashes in the imaginary waters before collapsing to the floor. Norma sits in shock as the thermometer surges past 120 °F (49 °C) and shatters. The paint on Norma’s oil paintings begin to melt before her eyes, and she screams and collapses to the ground.

The scene cuts to the apartment at night with heavy snow outside the windows. The thermometer reads −10 °F (−23 °C). Norma is bedridden with a high fever and is tended to by Mrs. Bronson and a doctor. The Earth moving closer to the sun is revealed to be only a fever dream. In reality, the Earth is moving away from the sun, and the world is freezing to death.

Practically everyone who became famous in Hollywood, guys like Robert Redford, Paul Newman, among many others, appeared on those shows. It was live television. The writing was really excellent.

  13. More snow can be construed as evidence of global warming. One of the consequences of global warming (I have read) is more moisture in the atmosphere. The presence of this moisture causes global weather systems to become more volatile, generating more storms both in summer (hurricanes and tornadoes) and in winter (blizzards). Are you a climate change denier because you believe scientists are liberals and therefore dishonest and delusional or because you truly believe you know more than they do? If the latter is true, show us proof of your PhD in meteorology or atmospheric physics and post a list of your peer-reviewed publications.
