#ReleaseTheMemo coming soon

What’s significant is that every Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee (list here) voted to release the memo. So while it may be a partisan memo, it has unanimous support from Republicans. There must be something worthwhile in there, otherwise the Republicans wouldn’t put themselves on the line for a President they don’t love.

Asian beta-male-rager caught before he killed anyone

A Virginia Tech student was arrested Monday after police said he had an assault rifle and was trying to buy 5,000 rounds of ammunition.

Yunsong Zhao, 19, has been charged with illegal possession of an assault rifle while not being a US citizen, according to an arrest warrant obtained by CNN affiliate WSLS.

Police say Zhao had bought a former police vehicle — which still had police markings — and installed a special bumper to the car. The freshman student had also researched bulletproof vests, the document states.

That’s pretty interesting. He could have been the next Seung-Hui Cho. Maybe we need better vetting of student visas.

#SOTU: Success for Trump

Based on the reaction this morning, it was a success for Trump. People in the MSM who hate Trump seem pissed because they perceive it as good propaganda for Trump. Ironically, merely by being boring and free of new content, it makes Trump seem more presidential.

Democrats booed Trump when (very late into the long speech) he criticized chain migration, even though Trump’s remarks would seem like just common sense to regular Americans who were watching.

I personally criticize the proposed immigration deal for being too soft. It would grant amnesty for a huge number of illegal aliens, allowing chain migration to continue for years and years for existing applications (despite Democratic boos), and there is no E-Verify or any other crackdown on people who cheat the system by hiring illegal aliens.

But despite the softness of the proposed deal, Democrats appear to be so pissed at Trump that there is zero chance they will support it. Hopefully, it falls apart, and Republicans force a better deal through Congress using the so-called “nuclear” option. OK, I’m just dreaming here, but bloggers are dreamers too.

“Americans are dreamers too” has really triggered the liberals! It’s like “all lives matter.”

State of the Union address

See my twitter for live tweets:

* * *

Well that was long. It was Reaganesque but without Reagan’s genial delivery.

A win for Trump because Trump looks presidential giving the speech, a reprieve from the MSM being anti-Trump 24/7.

CNN talking head mentions Ronald Reagan. But I wrote it first!

I’m old enough to remember watching Reagan’s State of the Union Addresses back in the 1980s.

Government work, amazing job security!

A commenter asked about whether government job security is really as great as it’s cracked up to be.

Well how about the latest news about the government worker who issued the false missile alert in Hawaii?

The employee’s work history was detailed by a state investigation made public Tuesday that found he had “been a source of concern … for over 10 years” to his coworkers. On at least two other occasions, that probe found, this employee also “confused real life events and drills.”

. . .

The state report released Tuesday described the employee who sent out the alert as having a poor history dating back more than a decade. Other members of his staff have said they did not feel comfortable with his work, the report said. The employee had been counseled and corrected on the spot, state officials said, but remained in his position.

So there you have it. No matter how bad you are at your government job, you still get to keep it. You only get fired if you screw up so bad that it makes national news, and even then it takes one to two weeks before you actually get fired.

Only being a partner at PWC gives you better job security. Remember the partner at PWC who, last year, gave the wrong envelope to the Academy Awards presenter for Best Picture? He was never fired.

Does anyone in journalism know about cause and effect?

Phone-addicted teens aren’t as happy as those who play sports and hang out IRL, new study suggests

Kids who suck at sports and don’t have any friends are unhappy because they suck and sports and don’t have any friends, but also have more free time to spend using their phones.

Andre McCabe retirement

Technically he’s retiring in March, but he’s leaving now because with unused vacation time he will get paid through March.

Government jobs have great vacation and retirement benefits! He’s only 49, but he gets to retire with a pension. I should have taken a government job when I was 24. I could have been on easy street now.

The CEO with the bad toupée

Many years ago, shortly after I started working for a biotech company in Phoenix, I asked someone, “who’s the old guy with a bad toupée?” That was the CEO. His bad toupée was legendary. A topic of discussion on the Yahoo Finance message boards.

Should male models get equal pay for equal work?

Female models make vastly more money than male models.

Why isn’t anyone demanding equal pay for equal work when it comes to male models?

I have been reluctant to say anything because if something sounds too good to be true, then it’s probably not true. But a bunch or Republican Congressmen are behind it, and the New York Times is taking it seriously. Not seriously in the sense that “wow this stuff is real, Hillary and Obama are crooks,” but rather “those sneaky Republicans could use this as effective propaganda to make the ‘good guys’ look bad.”
