Steve Bannon

Poor guy is just unable to keep his mouth shut in front of people who aren’t his friends. Which was no one at the White House and no one who is a reporter of any kind. He should have taken the advice of Gordon Gekko. “If you need a friend, get a dog.”

  1. He was flat out stupid to run his mouth in front of journalists, both Wolffe and that other interview he gave last summer before he got sacked.

    • I commented here months ago that the libertarians were gunning for Bannon after his intriguing against with very nasty remarks about them and that he was toast, and down he goes. You would think folks would learn after USSR Communism and Bob Barr, but no: Don’t attract the attention of the L/libertarians.

A guy I know in DC said that fortunately, they had a great ally, Kamikaze Bannon himself. I too see a tipsy factor.

    • Yeah but now we’re forced to put all our faith in Trump, which isn’t a pleasant feeling.

  3. Bannon is a great man and he has done a lot for the movement but he really brought this on on himself. I wish him success in the future and I hope he learns from his mistakes.

Also hope we can get a fresh start in the party without all of Bannon’s “War on McConnell” nonsense. I bought into it at the time but really it never made sense. We should only have been going after Congressmen who were hostile to Trump or overly pro immigration. Guys like Flake had to go, guys like Sasse have to go and McCain would have to go if he wasn’t about to die anyway but we can live with guys like Graham as long as they bend the knee.

    • Agreed.

The cucks who are just weak-kneed aren’t a problem if they go along with our agenda.

The inveterate ones you mentioned as the ones who need the ax.

Candidates like Luther Strange who are “good enough” shouldn’t get heat.

    • Graham is part of the gang of 8. How can you be any more pro immigration than that?

  4. Maybe to keep his mouth shut, Bannon should try doing what Scaramucci accused him of doing. Sorry, but Mooch ruined it for me. Every time I see Bannon I think of him doing “that act.” It’s not a pleasant picture. I mean it’s not like he’s a handsome guido like the Mooch. The power of suggestion!

  5. I agree. Extremely stupid on his part. I cannot believe that someone who worked at Goldman Sachs would be so inept at keeping his trap shut. If you work in a big corporation you quickly realize a few basic truths: trust no one, silence is golden and never complain!

    • Yep. More & more, my favorite president was “Silent” Cal Coolidge.

A church lady once said to Coolidge, “I bet all my friends I can make you say more than two words.” He replied, “You lose.”

  6. I think Bannon’s running of the mouth is due to alcoholism. He has noticeably deteriorated both mentally and physically over the last year. I know a good Irish drunk when I see one…I do wish him well. I actually fear for his health at this point.

    • While that may be the case and I am not doubting your powers of observation, I would suggest that another cause is his precipitous decline in status and waning political influence. Lack of skill and being in a high pressure environment would take a toll on anyone.

      • Two-hour gaps between speech and reply, so it’s like conversing with someone orbiting Jupiter, and (from the point of view of the commenter) every six hours (max) the brief exchange is ended and an entirely different topic introduced from above. So in fact it’s an experiment in social distraction and disruption and probably increases the suicide rate among the lonely. And even if it were possible to keep a comments-conversation going for longer, it would still just be a phony substitute for actual conversation, and it’s also conducted in public like a selfhood-annihilating commie encounter-session (except without fear of electric shocks).

But there’s nothing else to do when eating alone; looking into a screen is the nearest approximation to eating in company, which human beings are programmed to do. So, for example, on the comments-page to the previous post I asked you whether you’d be interested in meeting a Staten Island IA genius-freak friend of mine — but, screech, that conversation closed and a new one begins.

True, face to face conversation is best. But the internet is still helpful and some people do meet a future lover or spouse through the internet. Sorry for not replying to your post. Thanks, but I’m not really interested in meeting anyone now – too much family stuff going on. But I appreciate the offer. I’m flattered that you think I’m good enough for your friend. The men on this blog tend to think most women are shallow gold-diggers.

  9. Screw all this. Kodak’s stock went up 120% because it announced its own cryptocurrency, KodakCoin. What the hell is going on? Are we gonna have McDonaldscoin? Starbuckscoin? Is this going to impact the dollar??
Is there more room for growth in Kodak stock? It went from $3 to $6.80 – but it’s overall down from $15.40 last year this time. Not a highly rated stock. To tell you the truth, I didn’t even know Kodak was still in business. It does my heart good to know that some old US businesses are still around.

  11. “If you need a friend, get a dog”

The US is a just socially disconnected place and it ranks no. 1 in the world when it comes to dog ownership.

France is the only Continental European nation with the most pet dog ownership.

It has less dog owners than Argentina which has less people, and it’s the most “White” of the Latin American countries.

List of Top 10 Countries with Most Pet Dogs

Rank Country Total of Pet Dogs

    1. United States 69,929,000
    2. Brazil 35,800,000
    3. China 27,400,000
    4. Russia 12,520,000
    5. Japan 12,000,000
    6. Philippines 11,600,000
    7. India 10,200,000
    8. Argentina 9,200,000
    9. UK 9,000,000
    10. France 7,570,000
