Why you should like Jarvanka if you like Donald

with 41 comments

Do you really think anyone else in the administration besides Jared Kushner and Ivanka cares about the President? I bet everyone else in the White House would be pretty happy if Donald Trump went away and Mike Pence became president.

  1. Stephen Miller, and unlike Javanka he’s politically competent. Hope Hicks and Sarah Huckabee Sanders too.

  2. After watching Trump promise complete surrender on immigration after already surrendering the frame on DACA, I want him impeached and replaced too. We;’d be better off with Jeb Bush because at least we’d be on guard.

DACA was the best leverage Trump had. If he intended to keep his promises or to match his hard rhetoric he would have ended new DACA enrollments on day 1 and then used the threat of deporting them to get wall funding, E-verify and all of the other critical components of fixing our immigration problem that HAVEN’T EVEN BEEN ATTEMPTED.

If he were serious, he would have appointed Kobach instead of amnesty supporters to DHS.

    • This already happened in September, and it was far worse then (“we’ll build the wall later”). Relax and wait to see what happens.

    • I would be worried to if Trump hadn’t already pulled this same gambit before and pulled back each time. It appears to be a strategy with him, although I don’t understand what it’s suppose to accomplish other than tricking the MSM into praising him for “growing in office” for a few hours before pulling back.

      • The MSM was praising him? All I saw were a bunch of anti-Trumpers gloating about how his supporters were about to be betrayed.

    • He’s such an idiot that the moment he revoked DACA (6 months in the future or whatever) he immediately gave up all his leverage by publicly saying that if congress didn’t pass DACA legislatively he’d just bring it back through executive action.

I actually fell for all that bullshut about being a master deal maker.

  3. Lion is completely right about this. Trump is a child with no consistent political ideology. We saw this in the primary debates where he would contradict himself repeatedly. But his strong rhetoric was so gratifying that people invested heavily and now are experiencing cognitive dissonance at hearing him talk like Jeb Bush.

  4. I hoinestly thought the problem of illegal border crossings was getting better. Turns out it is getting worse. Under Trump! WTF!

      • The massive tax cut creates the illusion of great economy, but really Trump just signed whatever Congress gave him, it wasn’t his idea.

      • Magnavox is shameless. Obama has 8 straight years of 1% growth and then Trump takes office and begins slashing regulations on day 1 and we instantly see 3%+ growth. And this is Obama somehow? Fantasyland.

      • Obama inherited Bush’s credit and banking crisis.

Trump inherited the Obama economy. Plus the tax cut which boosts the economy in the short run but which is not a sound policy in the long run.

  5. I don’t particularly like them (except on a visceral ethnocentric level perhaps), but they seem mostly harmless. As far as I can tell the stab-in-the-back myth some in the alt-right would like to build around them is unfounded. They spend their time on side projects like these: https://www.axios.com/scoop-1515584827-8027c3e9-80c3-43ff-8add-a88094580944.html

    Well thats a good point.

Maybe they shoudl create some sort of position for Trump where he gets to do fly-bys at stadiums.

  7. I think most people on the establishment would be glad if Trump was completely under control of Jarvanka, Jarvanka almost succeeded in putting the US in another neo-con war in the Middle East and are probably pushing hard to make him drop the MAGA agenda (what about this conference about DACA deal ?)

    Koba

January 10, 2018 at EST am

  8. I don’t “care” about Trump. I want to see less immigration, less free trade and less foreign wars. I care that we have a president that will carry out that agenda.

If Jarvanka sway Trump on the issues then they are a liability.

Trump must realize he is not Obama. Obama could have done whatever he wanted and the press would have fawned over him. People don’t like Trump; they put up with his BS because they care about the issues.

  9. Right, this is basically just saying that Trump has done a very poor job of staffing his White House with Trumpians. The problem is that Javanka support Trump but they secretly oppose all of his Trumpian policies. It would be better if Javanka were running the business and Junior, Eric, and Tiffany were the political factotums.

  11. I dislike Jared but I don’t hate him.

I HATE Ivanka. She is pure trash. There is literally no difference, politically speaking, between Ivanka and Hillary. She couldn’t even vote for her father in the NY primaries because she is such a Globalist shill that she was registered as a Democrat.

Even aside from politics she is just an arrogant twat. See her in the film Born Rich. She sucks. Futhermore, she is so delusional that she thinks she can be President someday. Yeah right, which party would have her? I doubt the Democrats will be willing to take her back.

  12. If something happened to Trump and Pence became president, it’s lights out. The GOPe will be back in control with an Obama-lite agenda and even if his heart is in the right place, Pence has no independent power base (or the money) to oppose it effectively. Open borders will turn TX and FL blue, and even AL, GA, and the other red states in the south will be at risk. In no time, the USA will be under effective one-party control and the GOP will go the way of the do-do bird.

    • They were both Democrats. I think that Jared honestly believes that his father-in-law has a certain responsibility to give the people who voted for him what they expect based on his campaign promises. I don’t think Ivanka feels as strongly about it.

  16. The impression I got from Corey Lewandowski’s In Trump We Trust is that Trump is a mean boss when he’s angry but a genuine and swell guy with a personal touch unusual for a billionaire. Very few who worked in the Trump Organization had bad things to say about him. Why else would Corey and Bannon and others who have been fired continue to work for Trumps interests?

So probably many in the Trump White House actually do like Trump as a boss.

  17. Maybe Pence would be a better President. Trump gets liberals all riled up, which makes everyone on the right happy, but he also inadvertently keeps liberals politically engaged, which is not so great. President Pence would appoint the same judges, pass the same tax bill, be more effective on health care, and have a more effective consistent conservative foreign policy with half the scrutiny. Trump gives the Democrats a great excuse to be obstructionist, and right now even liberal Republicans are cheering them on. With President Pence the Dems would have to start reaching across the aisle or look foolish. Pence seems to be a very moral man as well. Trump is immoral and incredibly corrupt, and some day the GOP’s association with a con man with ties to organized crime and no respect for the law is going to bite the GOP in the ass.

The only real argument for Trump that I can see is immigration, but a lot of Republicans, like Sessions, are actually more sincerely committed to restricting immigration than Trump is. The anti-immigration backlash started well before Trump, Trump was just the only major American politician willing to jump aboard. At this point there is enough momentum that Pence could keep it rolling. We do need to get to the point where immigration becomes a litmus test for any GOP candidate, like NRA support or anti-abortion, and we are not there yet, but close.
