#ReleaseTheMemo

I have been reluctant to say anything because if something sounds too good to be true, then it’s probably not true. But a bunch or Republican Congressmen are behind it, and the New York Times is taking it seriously. Not seriously in the sense that “wow this stuff is real, Hillary and Obama are crooks,” but rather “those sneaky Republicans could use this as effective propaganda to make the ‘good guys’ look bad.”

  1. Morning Joe went full bore on the idea that releasing the memo was treason and should never see the light of day to protect America’s national security…and it’s a nothingburger that means nothing.

Needless to say, I had some cognitive dissonance with my whiplash this morning.

My gut tells me this is probably closer to a nothingburger than the keys to the kingdom of a corrupt justice department and FBI. But I’m enjoying the show.

  2. I was really disappointed by the “secret society” fight the Republicans picked, so let’s hope they used better sense on this one.

  3. Of course Hillary is a crook. She invaded Libya in order to upgrade her profile for the presidential race. There is nothing she nor Bill wouldn’t do.

  4. The memo is just step one. There are many steps to follow. What the memo will do though is delegitimize Mueller and his investigation. It will give Trump the political cover to force Mueller to wind it down or have someone at Justice do it for him. That alone is worth it even if nothing ultimately happens to Clinton or Obama.

  5. Commentary magazine was way down on the memo but that seems to be because they think that Meuller probe is about Trump firing Comey.

In reality the thesis of the MSM/Democrats is that Trump is a Russian agent because they have compromising information and/or he has business deals. That is the premise to refute. Why was the Hillary campaign pointing all these fingers *before* the election? Because they had Susan Powers unmask officials and then leak the information internally to the campaign.

And BTW we know that Huma had classified information on the home computer but she signed a statement under oath when she left State that she had turned over all such information. Why was that never prosecuted? Oh yeah because Strzok was the guy who investigated that too.

  6. I find it hilarious that the “law and order” Republican party is attacking the FBI and Justice department because they are investigating the Trump campaign.

According to press reports the memo is critical of a FISA warrant obtained for surveillance of Carter Page. Carter Page was a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign although he resigned before the end of the campaign. They seem to claim that the FISA warrant was based purely on the Steele dossier which was a campaign document and therefore not a reliable source.

This argument is pretty thin. In 2013 a group of Russian spies was caught in the US. These Russian spies were secretly recorded before their arrest by the FBI discussing their attempt to compromise and recruit Carter Page as an information source. Carter Page was interviewed by the FBI. He denied knowing these Russians were spies and denied giving him anything more than public information. Carter Page was never arrested or charged in connection with this case, but it is reported that he was the subject of FISA surveillance starting in 2014. This surveillance was reported to have ended before he joined the Trump campaign.

After Carter Page joined the Trump campaign as a foreign policy adviser, Carter Page made trips to Russia. Carter Page claims these trips were for personal business reasons and not related to the campaign.

The FBI/CIA had good reason to suspect Carter Page, completely independently of the Steele dossier.

    • You’re not keeping up with the Deep State narrative. This week the narrative is that the Russians duped the Clintons and FBI into thinking there was a there there, when in truth there was no there there in order to screw with us and foster chaos (which, btw, is what foreign agents are always doing, Russia or otherwise). And the FBI were just doing their jobs by looking into it unaware they were being played. Hah!

    • MikeCA you are so far out of the loop that you really need to stop posting, because you will only be embarrassing yourself.

I have been warning about what’s about to happen for weeks. Better strap in for the wild ride.

    • If the FBI is acting illegally to protect Democrats and prosecute Republicans, why shouldn’t Republicans attack them? Assuming that’s what’s happening.

    • Devin Nunes is a refusing to show the memo to the FBI or the Justice Department. He is even refusing to show the memo to the Republican Senate Intelligence committee chairman. He is refusing to show the memo to anyone with access to the underlying intelligence information it is based on. He will only show it people who have no idea what the actual facts are.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Use your brain for something other than holding your ears apart. Devin Nunes is a political hack.

      • Sorry Obama/Hillary, its too late – you’re busted, along with your entire cabal.

        Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

      • If the memo is as bad as some people suspect, it makes no sense to show it to the DOJ or the FBI until necessary. The risk of document destruction is way too high. The lessons of the IRS under the Obama Administration have been learned. Delay and destroy documents, and there will be no consequences.

      • So the Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the Steele dossier so that they could keep it secret until after Trump won the election and then use it through the FBI to derail the Trump presidency?

If you believe that, I have a bridge in New York city you might be interested in buying. I’m selling it at a really low price.

      • Devin Nunes is a refusing to show the memo to the FBI or the Justice Department.

He doesn’t have to because Congress, as a separate branch of government, technically owns the memo.

And anyway, everyone will be able to read it in a few days to see what it’s contents are. There’s no reason why either the FBI or DoJ can’t wait a bit.

Awfully convenient/coincidental that he picks the very next day after Christopher Wray reads The Memo though, don’t you think?
