The CEO with the bad toupée

Many years ago, shortly after I started working for a biotech company in Phoenix, I asked someone, “who’s the old guy with a bad toupée?” That was the CEO. His bad toupée was legendary. A topic of discussion on the Yahoo Finance message boards.

  1. You’d think that a CEO would either get a hair transplant or just not bother because he’s a CEO.

    • Maybe since he’s the CEO, nobody gives him negative feedback.

  2. This degree of ‘bad hair’ is a body dysmorphic disorder imo. It’s similar to people who tan themselves roasted, like the NJ ‘tanning mom-‘ but think they look good, or at least normal, or women who plaster on huge amounts of makeup (not just a lot, but to point they look clown-like). They’re blind to how abnormal they appear. Kind of like Michael Jackson.

    • Yeah, it’s surprisingly easy to fool yourself about your appearance. I used to be very fat and I had no idea; I thought I was just a little bit overweight.

      • Photographs tell the truth. You think you are “a little overweight” and then see a picture of yourself and are appalled. The camera doesn’t lie.

      • Pictures really do make you look bigger than real life. To look your best in pictures, you have to weight a little less than you think is normal for you.
